To log in to your Wi-Fi router, connect your phone or computer to that router, open a browser, and enter its local management address in the address bar. Then sign in with the router’s administrator credentials—not your Wi-Fi password or ISP account. The address and login details vary by router model and internet provider.
Connect to the router you want to manage
Join the router’s Wi-Fi network, or connect a computer to one of its LAN ports with an Ethernet cable. You need to be on the router’s network to reach its local settings page. Ethernet is useful if Wi-Fi is unstable or if you plan to change wireless settings that could disconnect your session. TP-Link likewise says you must be connected by Wi-Fi or Ethernet to access its login page: TP-Link router login instructions.

Find and open the router login address
- Check the router’s label, manual, provider instructions, or official support page for the exact model. The correct address may be an IP address or a manufacturer hostname.
- Open a web browser and type that address directly into the address bar. Do not enter it into a search engine.
- If the page does not open, verify that you are connected to the intended router and try the documented alternate address or hostname. The router’s address may have been changed, and on some networks another device may serve as the gateway.
These are examples from support pages, not universal addresses:
- TP-Link:
tplinkwifi.netor192.168.0.1(TP-Link instructions). - Verizon gateway:
mynetworksettings.comorhttps://192.168.1.1(Verizon admin-page instructions). - Linksys:
https://192.168.1.1ormyrouter.local(Linksys web-interface instructions). - D-Link DIR-878:
192.168.0.1ordlinkrouter.local(D-Link DIR-878 instructions).
Sign in with administrator credentials
Enter the administrator username and password set during setup, or the credentials printed on the router label if that model uses label credentials. Defaults differ, and the owner or provider may have changed them. Some routers instead prompt you to create an administrator password the first time you sign in; follow that model’s setup flow rather than trying a generic default.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
The administrator password controls router settings. It is separate from the Wi-Fi password used to connect devices and from credentials for your internet provider. If you are unsure which password is being requested, check the label and setup records or the model-specific support instructions.
If the login page will not load
- Confirm the device is connected to the router you intend to manage, rather than a different Wi-Fi network or mobile connection.
- Recheck the address against the router label, provider instructions, or support page for the exact model.
- Try the manufacturer’s documented hostname or IP alternative.
- If Wi-Fi is weak or unstable, connect by Ethernet and try again.
If the router rejects your password
Do not assume a universal username-and-password combination. Check the label and setup records, and make sure you are not entering the Wi-Fi password or ISP credentials in the administrator login fields. First-time setup may require creating an admin password rather than using a default.

- Dual-band Wi-Fi with 5 GHz speeds up to 867 Mbps and 2.4 GHz speeds up to 300 Mbps, delivering 1200 Mbps of total bandwidth¹. Dual-band routers do not support 6 GHz. Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- Covers up to 1,000 sq. ft. with four external antennas for stable wireless connections and optimal coverage.
- Supports IGMP Proxy/Snooping, Bridge and Tag VLAN to optimize IPTV streaming
- Access Point Mode - Supports AP Mode to transform your wired connection into wireless network, an ideal wireless router for home
- Advanced Security with WPA3 - The latest Wi-Fi security protocol, WPA3, brings new capabilities to improve cybersecurity in personal networks
If the administrator password was changed and forgotten, consult the exact model’s recovery instructions before resetting. In the cases described by their support pages, TP-Link and ASUS require a factory reset to recover access; Linksys also directs users to a physical reset when no password works. A reset restores factory settings, so you will need to set up the router again. See TP-Link password-reset instructions, ASUS login troubleshooting, and Linksys access instructions for their guidance. Reset steps vary by model, so follow the instructions for your specific device.

Protect the router administrator password
Change a default or shared admin password, keep it distinct from the Wi-Fi password, and store it somewhere secure. ASUS recommends a password longer than 10 characters with a mix of uppercase letters, numbers, and special characters; that is ASUS’s recommendation, not a universal router requirement (ASUS router settings-page guidance). NETGEAR and HUAWEI also provide model-specific guidance for changing an administrator password: NETGEAR instructions and HUAWEI UK instructions.
