On an X4 Pro, you can load an ebook either through the XTEINK app over Wi‑Fi or by copying it in USB Mode. The practical sequence is: identify the exact XTEINK model, use a file that its firmware supports, transfer it by the model’s documented method, and then open it from the reader’s library. The X4 Pro instructions below are model-specific; X4 Classic, X3 and first-generation X4 menus can differ.
A file that transfers successfully can still fail to open if its format is unsupported or it is protected by digital rights management (DRM). Check compatibility before repeating a transfer.

First identify your exact XTEINK model
XTEINK publishes separate guides for the X4 Classic (also called X4 V2), X4 Pro, X3 and the first-generation X4. Their menus and transfer behavior should not be treated as interchangeable. Look at the model name shown on the device, packaging or its settings screen, then use that model’s current guide if the labels on your reader do not match the X4 Pro procedure.

Before you begin: a short preparation checklist
- Write down the model. Confirm whether the device is an X4 Pro, X4 Classic/X4 V2, X3 or first-generation X4.
- Locate the ebook file. Decide whether the usable copy is on a phone or on a computer. This determines which X4 Pro route is most direct.
- Check the extension and protection. An EPUB or TXT file is the safest starting point for an X4 Pro. Make sure the book is not merely a web link, shortcut or incomplete cloud download, and confirm that you are legally allowed to transfer it.
- Keep the model guide available. If your reader’s menu names differ from the labels below, stop and use the guide for that exact model and firmware instead of guessing.
These checks separate setup problems from compatibility problems. They also prevent a common mistake: assuming that a successful copy operation proves that the reader can parse the book.
Prepare a compatible ebook file
Formats listed for the X4 Pro
The detailed X4 Pro specification names EPUB and TXT as document formats. Start with one of those formats when loading an X4 Pro. A file extension by itself does not guarantee that a particular book will open: the file must also be readable by the firmware and not restricted by protection that the device cannot handle.
If you have several editions of a title, choose the ordinary local EPUB or TXT file rather than an online-only placeholder. Keep the original file unchanged until you know the transferred copy works; renaming a file does not convert its contents.
Formats and caveats for the X4 Classic (X4 V2)
The X4 Classic product page’s detailed specification also lists EPUB and TXT. Its FAQ additionally lists TXT, EPUB, MOBI, PDF, XTCH, XTC and XTCZ, but the same FAQ warns that MOBI and PDF may not be fully supported by firmware. XTEINK recommends converting those files through the official app before transferring them.
For image-heavy material such as comics, the X4 Classic FAQ recommends converting to XTCH, XTC or XTCZ through XT-Cloud or the official app. Treat those as model-and-firmware guidance, not as a guarantee that every format in the FAQ will work on every XTEINK reader. The detailed specification and the broader FAQ serve different purposes: one identifies the primary document formats, while the other lists additional formats with explicit limitations.
DRM and store-locked books
Changing a book’s extension or copying it by USB does not remove DRM. A current independent comparison reports that the X3, X4 Classic and X4 Pro do not run Kindle or Kobo apps, so those readers require DRM-free files or files that you are legally allowed to transfer to the device. Do not attempt to bypass copy protection. If a purchased book is locked to an app or account, obtain an authorized, transferable version or use the seller’s supported reading application instead.
DRM is separate from file format. A protected EPUB can remain unreadable even though EPUB is listed for the model, while an unprotected file can still fail if it is damaged or in an unsupported variant.

Load an ebook on an X4 Pro with the XTEINK app
Use this route when the compatible ebook is already on your phone. The reader must be bound to the XTEINK app and connected to Wi‑Fi before the file can be synchronized.
- Bind the reader. Open the XTEINK app and complete its pairing or binding process for the X4 Pro. If the reader is already listed in the app, select that existing device rather than creating a second entry.
- Connect the X4 Pro to Wi‑Fi. The app route depends on the reader being online. Confirm the device shows a Wi‑Fi connection before starting the import.
- Open the device in the app. In the XTEINK app, open Devices and select the X4 Pro.
- Import the file from the phone. Tap Import, browse the phone’s storage and choose the compatible EPUB or TXT file. Select the actual ebook file, not a download page, archive or cloud-share link that the app cannot import.
- Start synchronization on the reader. On the X4 Pro, open the menu in the upper-right corner and select Cloud Sync.
- Open the book. After synchronization completes, locate the imported title in the reader’s library and open it. If it appears but will not open, stop repeating the sync and use the compatibility checks in the troubleshooting section.
The app transfers the file; it does not make an unsupported format compatible. An EPUB or TXT that is damaged, encrypted for another application or otherwise unreadable can still fail after a successful import.
If the phone import seems stuck
Confirm the three required pieces in order: the X4 Pro is bound to the correct app account, the reader has Wi‑Fi access, and the chosen item is a complete local ebook file. Then verify that the reader is in Cloud Sync. If the title later appears in the library but cannot be opened, treat that as a format or protection problem rather than repeating the same import indefinitely.
Load an ebook on an X4 Pro with USB Mode
Use USB when the compatible ebook is on a Windows, macOS or other computer that can copy files to a connected device. This route does not require importing the book through the phone app, but it does require a compatible USB connection.
- Connect the reader. Attach the X4 Pro to the computer with a compatible USB connection.
- Choose USB Mode on the reader. Open the menu in the reader’s upper-right corner and select USB Mode.
- Wait for the reader to appear. The computer should show the X4 Pro as an available device or storage location after USB Mode is enabled.
- Copy the ebook. On the computer, copy the compatible ebook file to the X4 Pro’s visible storage. Use the original file rather than a shortcut or an online-only placeholder.
- Finish the transfer and check the library. Allow the copy to finish, then return to the reader and look for the title in its library. If it is present but does not open, check the format and DRM status before copying it again.
XTEINK’s USB guidance specifically says to check compatibility if a file fails to show up or open. A completed copy and a readable book are separate outcomes.
What to verify after a USB copy
First check whether the computer displayed the reader after USB Mode was selected. If it did not, the connection or mode selection needs attention. If the reader appeared and accepted the file but the title is absent, check that you copied the actual ebook and that its format is supported. If the title is present but will not open, move directly to the format, file-integrity and DRM checks instead of assuming the copy was lost.
Which X4 Pro route should you use?
| Question | XTEINK app | USB Mode |
|---|---|---|
| Where is the ebook? | On a phone | On a computer |
| Reader setup | Bind the X4 Pro to the app and connect the reader to Wi‑Fi | Connect the reader to the computer and select USB Mode |
| Reader menu | Upper-right menu → Cloud Sync | Upper-right menu → USB Mode |
| File requirement | Compatible ebook file; X4 Pro’s detailed specification lists EPUB and TXT | Compatible ebook file; X4 Pro’s detailed specification lists EPUB and TXT |
| What the route cannot do | It cannot make an unsupported or DRM-locked book readable | It cannot make an unsupported or DRM-locked book readable |
Choose the route that matches where the file already lives. Moving a book to a computer solely to use USB adds a step, while using the app for a file that is already on a computer requires an additional phone transfer. Both routes still depend on a compatible, legally transferable file.

Neither route is inherently a format-conversion service. The app route adds binding, Wi‑Fi and Cloud Sync; USB adds the physical connection and USB Mode. The deciding question is usually file location, not a promise that one method supports more formats.
What changes on the X4 Classic?
The X4 Classic is also identified as X4 V2. Its detailed specification lists EPUB and TXT, so those are the safest starting formats. The broader FAQ list should be read with its firmware warning:
| Format or group | X4 Classic guidance |
|---|---|
| EPUB, TXT | Listed in the detailed document specification |
| MOBI, PDF | Listed in the FAQ, but XTEINK warns they may not be fully supported by firmware; convert through the official app before transfer |
| XTCH, XTC, XTCZ | Recommended by the FAQ for image-heavy content such as comics after conversion through XT-Cloud or the official app |
Do not assume that the X4 Pro’s upper-right menu labels, Cloud Sync flow or USB behavior are identical on the X4 Classic. If your X4 Classic presents different options, follow the current X4 Classic guide and its conversion instructions for that firmware.
For a conventional novel, try EPUB or TXT first. For a MOBI or PDF that does not open, use the official conversion path before trying another transfer. For comics or other image-heavy books, the XTCH, XTC or XTCZ options are the formats XTEINK specifically associates with conversion for that kind of content.
X3 and first-generation X4: use the model-specific guide
XTEINK’s guide index separates the X3 and the first-generation X4 from both X4 V2 and X4 Pro. The available X4 Pro steps therefore should not be presented as universal instructions for those readers. Identify the model first, open its current official guide and match the menu names shown on the device.

Troubleshoot a book that does not appear or open
The file never appears on the reader
- Confirm the model and route. X4 Pro app transfers require the reader to be bound, online and placed in Cloud Sync. USB transfers require USB Mode after the physical connection.
- Check the file type. For X4 Pro, begin with EPUB or TXT. For X4 Classic, remember that the detailed specification and the broader FAQ do not mean every listed format is equally reliable.
- Verify that the copy is a real local file. The app must be able to select the ebook from the phone, and the computer must be able to copy the actual file to the reader. A link, shortcut or incomplete download is not an ebook file the reader can index.
- Use the current model guide. If the labels in the app or reader differ from the documented path, stop and follow the guide for that exact model and firmware instead of guessing at a menu.
The file appears but will not open
- Check compatibility before transferring again. X4 Pro’s detailed specification names EPUB and TXT. X4 Classic’s FAQ warns about incomplete MOBI and PDF support and recommends conversion.
- Check DRM. A store-locked book may remain unreadable even when the file copied correctly. Use a DRM-free or lawfully transferable edition; do not bypass protection.
- Separate indexing from reading. If the title is listed, the physical transfer may have succeeded. The remaining issue is more likely the format, file integrity or protection than the USB cable or Wi‑Fi session.
- Convert when XTEINK recommends it. On X4 Classic, convert MOBI or PDF through the official app, and convert image-heavy content to XTCH, XTC or XTCZ when appropriate.
The app or menu does not match these steps
Firmware and app labels can change. XTEINK maintains separate guides for X4 Classic, X4 Pro, X3 and first-generation X4, so use the guide that names your exact device. The X4 Pro procedure in this article is verified for that model, not a promise that every XTEINK reader has the same interface.

A converted file still fails
Conversion is recommended for the X4 Classic’s potentially unsupported MOBI and PDF files, but conversion does not guarantee that a protected or damaged source will become readable. Confirm that the resulting file is local, that its new format is one XTEINK recommends for the device, and that it is not still locked to a store or reading app.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do you need a microSD card or card reader?
The X4 Pro FAQ documents app and USB-mode transfer, so neither route requires a separate microSD card reader. The device includes a 16 GB microSD card and supports expansion up to 256 GB. A replacement or larger card is relevant only if the included card needs replacing or your library requires more space; it is not necessary merely to use the documented app or USB workflows.
Recommended Free Tools
If you choose a removable-card workflow instead, obtain the exact instructions for your model and firmware first. The presence of a card does not establish that every XTEINK model exposes the same folders or card-transfer menu. A card reader is therefore an optional physical aid, not a required purchase for the documented X4 Pro methods.
A reliable decision checklist
- Read the model name and distinguish X4 Pro, X4 Classic/X4 V2, X3 or first-generation X4.
- Open the guide for that exact model if any menu label differs.
- Use an ebook format the model’s specification supports. For X4 Pro, start with EPUB or TXT.
- For X4 Classic, convert MOBI or PDF when needed and use XTCH, XTC or XTCZ for image-heavy material as XTEINK recommends.
- Confirm that the book is DRM-free or legally transferable to the reader.
- On an X4 Pro, choose the app for a phone-based file or USB Mode for a computer-based file.
- If the title is missing, verify the route and format. If it is present but unreadable, investigate format, file integrity or DRM rather than repeating the transfer.
These checks prevent the most common mistake: treating successful file copying as proof that the reader supports the book. Transfer method and ebook compatibility are separate parts of loading an ebook.
What is established about compatibility and support
XTEINK’s current product and support pages were checked on October 13, 2026. They provide the clearest format and procedure details for the X4 Pro and X4 Classic, while maintaining separate guides for the other models. Because firmware and app functions can change, verify the current guide when setting up a reader after an update or when your menu differs from the labels above.

Why does a book appear but refuse to open?
A successful copy is not proof of compatibility. Check the exact model’s supported formats, file integrity and DRM. On X4 Classic, XTEINK warns that MOBI and PDF may need conversion through the official app.
Is a microSD card reader required to load books on an X4 Pro?
No. XTEINK documents the app and USB Mode as transfer paths. The X4 Pro includes a 16 GB microSD card and supports expansion up to 256 GB; a card reader is optional.
Can I use the X4 Pro instructions on an X3 or first-generation X4?
Not automatically. XTEINK provides separate guides for X4 Classic, X4 Pro, X3 and first-generation X4, and their menus or transfer behavior can differ.

How should I load comics on an X4 Classic?
The X4 Classic FAQ recommends converting image-heavy material to XTCH, XTC or XTCZ through XT-Cloud or the official app.
What should I do if my menu labels do not match?
Identify the exact model and follow its current official guide. Firmware and app labels can change, and the X4 Pro Cloud Sync and USB Mode steps are not universal.
The Bottom Line
For an X4 Pro, use the XTEINK app and Cloud Sync for a compatible ebook on your phone, or connect a computer and select USB Mode. Start with EPUB or TXT, and remember that DRM or unsupported formats can prevent a book from opening even after a successful transfer. X4 Classic, X3 and first-generation X4 owners should follow the guide for their exact model.
