YouTube TV’s travel guidance says MLB viewers should use the service in their home area at least once every 30 days to avoid game-related viewing restrictions. Check the current channel lineup and local availability before relying on it for a specific game.

Can you stream a baseball game on your YouTube channel?
Only if you have the necessary rights and approvals for the footage and audio. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content, including another live broadcast. It may replace a stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. Even a licensed third-party stream can be interrupted if the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility for required rights and applicable approvals on the content provider.
In practice, filming a television, stadium screen, or another broadcaster’s feed and sending it to YouTube is not made permissible by owning a camera, having a stream key, or adding commentary. If you are organizing or recording a game, establish permission for the video, audio, music, participants, and any other protected material before going live. If you do not have those rights, use an official viewing option rather than rebroadcasting the game.

How to stream a game you are authorized to broadcast

Do not assume a generic stream-key workflow overrides YouTube’s copyright checks or a rights holder’s allowlisting requirements.

- Set up the live stream in YouTube. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and use the stream key and server details shown for that stream in your encoder. Treat the key like a password; do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the stream.
- Configure your authorized video source. Connect your camera or production encoder and select an output format supported by your equipment and workflow. Check framing, sound, and connection stability before the event.
- Start and verify the stream. Start sending the feed from the encoder, then confirm in YouTube Studio that the preview and status look correct before you direct viewers to it. Keep monitoring the feed while it is live.
- End the broadcast cleanly. Stop the encoder output and end the live stream in YouTube Studio when the event is over.
This is an authorization-first outline, not a promise that any particular professional game can be rebroadcast. YouTube’s rights checks may affect a stream even after setup is complete.

Why a game may be unavailable in your area
- It is not currently being streamed on MLB’s YouTube channel. The channel’s availability can change by season; an old season’s game count does not establish the current schedule.
- YouTube TV does not carry the relevant channel in your area. Coverage depends on local or regional channel availability as well as the game.
