What is confirmed about GTA 6 radio
Rockstar’s October 8, 2026 announcement confirms two listening situations: you can hear radio and on-demand podcasts while riding in vehicles and while travelling on foot. On-foot playback uses newly introduced headphones or earbuds connected to Jason and Lucia’s in-game smartphones.
Rockstar’s wording is unusually specific about the feature but not about its interface. The announcement says: “Plus, for the first time ever, Grand Theft Auto VI introduces a series of on-demand podcasts for Jason and Lucia to experience beyond Leonida’s terrestrial radio, with both radio and podcasts available to listen to in vehicles and on foot through newly introduced headphones and earbuds connected to their smartphones.” Read the full announcement on Rockstar’s official Newswire page.

- This product contains a download code inside the box — no disc is included. Customer shipments will begin arriving November 12 for pre-load; game is playable starting November 19. Code can only be used by users holding an account for PlayStation registered to the US or Canada.
- Pre-order to receive the Vintage Vice City Pack.
- Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.
That establishes the feature’s purpose and equipment. It does not establish a final controller shortcut, phone menu, radio-wheel design, podcast menu, character-specific restriction, or mission-state rule.
Can you listen to GTA 6 radio while walking?
Yes. Rockstar explicitly says radio and podcasts are available on foot, not only in cars, motorcycles, or other vehicles. Jason and Lucia’s smartphones provide the connection for headphones or earbuds, allowing audio to continue while the character is moving through the world.
The practical concept is therefore different from older Grand Theft Auto radio systems that were primarily tied to a vehicle’s stereo. In GTA 6, a player should be able to experience music or spoken audio during ordinary walking and other on-foot exploration, subject to the final game’s controls and any rules Rockstar documents at launch.
How on-foot listening is expected to work
The following is the confirmed feature flow, not an invented button guide. Rockstar has not released the exact interaction sequence in the sources available before launch.
- Play as Jason or Lucia on foot. The announcement describes the headphones and earbuds as connected to their smartphones.
- Use the character’s in-game smartphone audio feature. Rockstar confirms the phone connection, but has not shown the final menu name or screen layout.
- Choose radio or an on-demand podcast when the released interface makes that option available. The announcement confirms both formats, without stating whether they share one menu or use separate controls.
- Continue moving while listening. The feature is specifically described as available on foot, so it is intended to work outside a vehicle as well as inside one.
- Follow the final platform instructions. Exact buttons, touchpad use, controller shortcuts, pause behavior, and audio-mixing options still need to be checked in the released game documentation.
Do not treat a leaked control scheme, a video from an unfinished build, or a recreated menu as authoritative. The reliable sequence will be the one Rockstar documents for the final PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.

- STUNNING VISUALS — Enhanced levels of fidelity and performance with new graphics modes featuring up to 4K resolution, up to 60 frames per second, HDR options, ray tracing, improved texture quality, and more
- FASTER LOADING — Quicker access to the action as the world of Los Santos and Blaine County load in faster than ever before.
- ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS AND HAPTIC FEEDBACK — Feel every moment through the DualSense controller, from directional damage to weather effects, rough road surfaces to explosions, and more.
- TEMPEST 3D AUDIO — Hear the sounds of the world with pinpoint precision: the throttle of a stolen supercar, the rattle of neighbouring gunfire, the roar of a helicopter overhead, and more.
- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the European version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions.
Listening in vehicles versus listening on foot
| Context | What Rockstar confirms | What remains undocumented |
|---|---|---|
| Inside a vehicle | Radio and on-demand podcasts can be heard in vehicles. | The station-change controls, vehicle-specific behavior, and whether every vehicle exposes identical options. |
| Walking or otherwise on foot | Radio and on-demand podcasts can be heard through headphones or earbuds connected to Jason and Lucia’s smartphones. | The exact phone menu, button sequence, interruption rules, and whether all on-foot activities permit playback. |
This distinction matters when searching for instructions. A vehicle-radio tutorial from an earlier game cannot automatically be applied to GTA 6’s smartphone and headphone system.
The six GTA 6 radio stations Rockstar has previewed
Rockstar’s official music page currently presents six named station previews. These are best understood as confirmed previews rather than a definitive final roster. The page supplies each station’s broad musical identity and hosts, but it does not publish a complete final list of every station or every song.

| The Chamber | Metal | DJ Kerry and DJ Tom |
| Flash FM | Pop | Robyn and Alex |
| Dirty South Classics | Regional rap and hip-hop classics | Trick and Trina |
Rockstar describes these as hand-picked previews. Its official music page also says GTA 6 has the “biggest and widest-ranging selection of in-game radio and podcasts yet,” spanning stations dedicated to genres from Classic Rock to Talk Radio. That is Rockstar’s promotional comparison, not an independently measured station count or genre survey. See the current station pages at Rockstar’s GTA VI music site, where station details and album information may change before launch.
Choosing a preview station by genre
Cocoteo: modern Latin
Cocoteo is the preview to start with if you want contemporary Latin music rather than a general-purpose pop station. El Martillo and La Gata are listed as its hosts. Rockstar has not supplied a complete track list in the reviewed material, so the “modern Latin” description is the supported way to identify its sound before release.
Back Country: renegade country
Back Country is labelled renegade country and is hosted by MW and Delta Dawne. The name and description point toward a deliberately rougher or less conventional country identity, but Rockstar has not published enough track information to define a narrower subgenre. Treat the supplied genre label as the reliable preview.

Afro Bank FM: African music, amapiano and 3-step
Afro Bank FM focuses on African music and specifically mentions amapiano and 3-step. Burna and Palmsy are the listed hosts. Those terms make this the clearest preview for listeners seeking contemporary African dance-oriented styles, while the broader “African music” label indicates the station is not limited to one sound.
The Chamber: metal
The Chamber is GTA 6’s metal preview, hosted by DJ Kerry and DJ Tom. Rockstar does not identify subgenres, eras, or artists in the current station description, so it is safer to use “metal” rather than promise a particular type of guitar music.
Flash FM: pop
Flash FM is the straightforward pop option in the current preview set, with Robyn and Alex as hosts. The description does not establish whether its playlist is contemporary, nostalgic, or mixed, and no complete playlist should be inferred from the station name alone.
Dirty South Classics: regional rap and hip-hop classics
Dirty South Classics is described as regional rap and hip-hop classics and is hosted by Trick and Trina. It is the most specific preview for listeners looking for Southern regional rap and established hip-hop tracks. Rockstar has not released the complete artist or song list in the reviewed announcement.
Are these all the radio stations in GTA 6?
No. They are the six stations Rockstar has publicly previewed on its current music page, not proof that the final game contains exactly six. Rockstar’s own description refers to a broad selection spanning more genres, including Classic Rock and Talk Radio, while the six named previews cover only the categories listed above.

Until Rockstar publishes a final roster, avoid treating unannounced station names from leaks, alleged screenshots, fan databases, or social-media posts as confirmed. A station can be absent from the preview page and still appear in the released game, and a preview detail can be revised before launch.
Can you listen to podcasts in GTA 6?
Yes. On-demand podcasts are confirmed alongside terrestrial radio. Rockstar says Jason and Lucia can experience these podcasts beyond Leonida’s terrestrial radio, and that both podcasts and radio are available in vehicles and on foot.
The term “on-demand” indicates a different listening model from a continuously scheduled station: the player will be able to access podcast content rather than relying only on whatever a station is broadcasting at that moment. Rockstar has not yet documented the podcast catalogue, episode-selection screen, playback order, skip controls, or whether episodes persist across sessions.
Do not assume that a podcast episode is interchangeable with a radio track. They are separate formats in Rockstar’s announcement, even though both use the same broad listening contexts.

GTA VI: The Album is not the in-game radio catalogue
Rockstar is also promoting Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, which its official music page describes as containing 34 original tracks and coming November 19. The page links vinyl and CD preorders and offers singles. That is a separate commercial soundtrack release associated with GTA 6.

- Join the revolution as Dani Rojas and liberate your nation from Anton Castillo's oppression.
- Dive into a blockbuster experience and immerse yourself in the journey of a guerrilla revolutionary.
- Explore the largest open world in Far Cry history, including the first ever sprawling urban city.
- Discover new animal companions like Chorizo, the adorable wiener dog, to take down enemies.

The 34-track figure applies to the album. It is not the number of songs broadcast by the in-game stations, and it does not prove that the album reproduces station playlists or includes every radio track. Buying a physical album is therefore not a requirement for using GTA 6’s radio or smartphone listening feature.
Rockstar’s confirmed on-foot equipment is in-game headphones or earbuds connected to the characters’ smartphones. The announcement does not name a hardware model, require a particular real-world headset, or say that players must purchase an accessory.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Platforms and what you need to access the feature
Rockstar Customer Support lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for Grand Theft Auto VI and says the Standard Edition includes the game. Consult the current platform and edition details at Rockstar’s official support page.
- You need a supported copy of GTA 6 on one of the listed platforms.
- For on-foot listening, the game’s own smartphone, headphones, or earbuds system is the relevant feature; Rockstar has not specified a real-world product requirement.
- The Standard Edition is described by Rockstar Support as including the game itself. The support page does not establish that a special edition is required for radio or podcasts.
- Rockstar has not stated whether audio controls differ between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
What the official material does not yet tell us
A complete how-to guide must separate confirmed capability from unanswered interface questions. The following details remain to be verified against final documentation or the released game:
- The exact buttons or controller combinations for opening the radio or smartphone controls.
- The menu labels and whether stations and podcasts appear in one list or separate lists.
- Whether switching characters changes available stations, podcast progress, or headphone behavior.
- Whether a mission, cutscene, combat encounter, swimming section, or other gameplay state pauses or disables audio.
- Whether vehicle radios and smartphone playback share volume, subtitle, or audio-mix settings.
- The complete final station lineup and every station’s complete track list.
- Any additional in-game availability rules or equipment requirements for headphones and earbuds.
These are not minor omissions if you are looking for button-by-button help. They determine whether a control guide is accurate, so they should be added only after Rockstar publishes them or the released versions provide them.
How to verify the final controls at launch
- Check Rockstar’s final game documentation. Look for an updated support article, manual, accessibility guide, or official launch explanation that names the platform-specific controls.
- Open the in-game controls menu. Use the exact label Rockstar provides rather than assuming an earlier Grand Theft Auto shortcut carries over.
- Test in both contexts. Confirm the station and podcast controls once in a vehicle and again on foot, because the smartphone headphone system may use a different input path.
- Check both characters if the game permits it. Rockstar’s announcement names Jason and Lucia, but does not say whether their interfaces or available audio differ.
- Record interruptions. Note what happens during missions, cutscenes, combat, swimming, entering a vehicle, and switching characters before relying on a community guide.
- Use the final station list. Replace preview-only lists with Rockstar’s released roster and playlist information when those become available.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Confusing the album with radio. Thirty-four original album tracks do not equal the number of in-game broadcast songs.
- Assuming six previews mean six stations. The current page is a preview and Rockstar describes a wider-ranging selection.
- Inventing controls from older games. GTA 6 adds a smartphone-connected headphone and earbud feature, so previous vehicle-radio shortcuts may not apply.
- Promising a real-world headset purchase. Rockstar confirms an in-game listening device but names no consumer model or mandatory accessory.
- Presenting leaks as official. Unannounced station names and playlists remain unconfirmed until Rockstar publishes them.
- Assuming every activity supports uninterrupted audio. Rockstar confirms the listening contexts, not every mission or gameplay-state rule.
Bottom line for players planning ahead
GTA 6’s radio is not limited to driving. Rockstar confirms that radio and on-demand podcasts can play in vehicles and on foot, with Jason and Lucia using headphones or earbuds connected to their smartphones for on-foot listening. Six stations are currently previewed—Cocoteo, Back Country, Afro Bank FM, The Chamber, Flash FM, and Dirty South Classics—but they should not be treated as the complete final lineup.
The responsible pre-release answer stops there on controls: Rockstar has not documented the final buttons or menus in the available official material. Once the game or updated documentation is available, verify the platform-specific sequence, the complete station and podcast catalogues, and any restrictions before updating a how-to guide.
