Before unlinking anything, check which Xbox account is attached and read the cooldown shown in account management; Blizzard says support cannot bypass link cooldowns.
Link your Battle.net account to Xbox
- Sign in to the Battle.net account you want to use and open Account Management → Connections.
- Find Xbox Network. If no Xbox account is listed, select +Connect.
- When prompted, sign in to and authorize the intended Microsoft/Xbox account. Check the account identity carefully before approving.
- Return to Connections and confirm that the listed Xbox account is the one you meant to link.
Check the link for Game Pass
For Blizzard’s Game Pass setup, the linked Xbox identity must be the account that has the subscription. In Battle.net, confirm the displayed Xbox account, then check Games and Subscriptions for an active Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription. Microsoft’s Services & subscriptions page can also help confirm the subscription belongs to the intended Microsoft account.

The wrong Xbox account is listed
First identify the account currently attached in Battle.net Connections. Blizzard’s Game Pass guidance describes a recovery path when more than 90 days have elapsed since linking: disconnect the listed account, then connect the correct one. If that threshold has not elapsed, the guidance says a different or new Battle.net account may be needed to link the intended Xbox account. These are not universal cooldown rules: read the warning shown for your account before disconnecting anything. Blizzard says support cannot bypass account-link cooldowns.

The Xbox account is already linked to another Battle.net account
Check the Connections page on both identities and determine which existing link needs to change. Blizzard allows one Xbox account per Battle.net account and does not allow one Xbox account to be linked to multiple Battle.net accounts. The Battle.net account must also be fully registered rather than a trial account. If unlinking is required, follow the account-specific cooldown shown in Battle.net; do not assume you can immediately move the connection.
“Provider did not accept user authorization” or another linking error
Make sure the authorization flow is using the intended Xbox/Microsoft identity, then consult Blizzard’s article for “Provider did not accept user authorization” or its guidance for errors linking Xbox to Battle.net. The available instructions identify these as distinct linking errors but do not establish a specific fix for this message, so avoid treating general browser or cache steps as Blizzard’s confirmed solution.

The account is linked, but Game Pass still appears unavailable
Recheck the Xbox identity shown under Battle.net Connections, then verify that this same Microsoft account has an active Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription. A subscription on a different Microsoft account does not verify the entitlement for the linked identity.
You see a console disconnection from a game server
A game connectivity error is different from an account-link or authorization problem. For example, Blizzard’s Overwatch 2 LC-202 troubleshooting covers firewall, router and port configuration, resetting network devices, improving wireless connectivity, and using the console’s built-in network test. Use those steps only when the LC-202 game-server error applies; they do not correct a wrong linked account or provider authorization rejection. Blizzard also warns that disconnecting and reconnecting a linked console account can start a cooldown.
