You do not connect Instacart to SkipTheDishes by creating a normal Skip app login. In Canada, open the Restaurants section in the Instacart app, consent to the requested information sharing, and Instacart creates a linked SkipTheDishes account for that ordering experience. You then choose a restaurant, check out in the Instacart flow, and follow the order in Instacart.
This partnership is available through the Instacart app for iOS and Android. SkipTheDishes handles restaurant fulfillment, restaurant-order charges, refunds, disputes and delivery support. Restaurant charges are in Canadian dollars (CAD), and the linked account created through Instacart is not a normal account that you can open in the SkipTheDishes app.

What “linking Instacart to Skip” actually does
The word “link” can be misleading. Instacart’s restaurant partnership creates a linked SkipTheDishes account behind the scenes after you give active consent. You do not need to register separately with SkipTheDishes, remember a second password, or sign in to the SkipTheDishes app to place the restaurant order.
The linked account exists for restaurant orders started in Instacart. Instacart says an order placed through this experience does not create an account that is accessible through the SkipTheDishes app. Keep using Instacart for the restaurant menu, checkout, order status and help.

What information is shared
When you enter the restaurant section for the first time, Instacart asks for permission to share these details with SkipTheDishes:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your Instacart+ membership status
Consent is active: if you decline, you can leave the restaurant experience without sharing that information. You cannot use the partnership’s restaurant ordering flow without accepting the required sharing request.
Do you need a separate SkipTheDishes account?
No. The account created from your consent is a linked account for this Instacart restaurant experience, not a conventional SkipTheDishes profile. There is no separate username-and-password setup that you must complete before ordering. You also cannot use the arrangement to sign in to SkipTheDishes’ standalone app and manage the order there.

This distinction matters if you are troubleshooting. Installing the SkipTheDishes app, requesting a password reset, or searching the app for an order placed through Instacart will not replace the Instacart restaurant workflow. Start with the Instacart app, where the restaurant menu, checkout, order history and support entry point remain available.
What you need before ordering
- An Instacart account that can sign in to the Instacart mobile app
- The Instacart app on an iPhone, iPad or Android device
- A Canadian location where the restaurant experience is offered
- A usable payment card saved to Instacart, or another payment method you can enter during checkout
- Permission to share the information listed above with SkipTheDishes
Instacart’s Restaurants (Canada) help guidance describes this feature as app-only for iOS and Android. It does not establish that the same restaurants, menus or promotions are available in every Canadian location, so the restaurants displayed in your app are the practical availability check.
Step-by-step: place a SkipTheDishes-powered restaurant order in Instacart
- Open the Instacart app. Sign in to the Instacart account you intend to use for the order. The restaurant partnership is accessed in the mobile app rather than through a separate SkipTheDishes login.
- Tap Restaurants. Select the Restaurants area in the Instacart app. On your first visit, Instacart presents the partnership consent request.
- Review and accept the information-sharing request. Confirm that Instacart may share your name, email address, phone number and Instacart+ status with SkipTheDishes. If you do not agree, choose the option to exit; no linked restaurant experience is created for you through that visit.
- Choose a restaurant. Browse the restaurants shown for your delivery address and open the menu for the one you want. Availability and menu selection can differ by address.
- Add menu items. Select food and other listed menu items, choose any available item options, and add them to the restaurant cart. The first time you add an item, Instacart says your default Instacart payment card is sent to the linked SkipTheDishes account.
- Review the cart and continue to checkout. Check the items, quantities, delivery address, fees, taxes, tip and total. Restaurant charges are in CAD. If the default card cannot be used, checkout can open a Skip webview where you enter payment details directly.
- Review and place the order. Confirm the restaurant order details in checkout, then use the place-order control. SkipTheDishes becomes responsible for fulfilling the restaurant order.
The exact buttons and available restaurants can change as the app is updated. Use the labels currently displayed in your Instacart app rather than looking for a “Connect Skip account” button in account settings.
How payment and responsibility are divided
Who charges you?
SkipTheDishes is the merchant of record for restaurant-order charges, refunds and disputes. Instacart’s help material states: “SkipTheDishes is the merchant of record for all restaurant order charges, refunds, and disputes.” This is different from treating the restaurant purchase as an ordinary Instacart grocery order.

Your default Instacart payment card is passed to the linked SkipTheDishes account when you first add an item to the restaurant cart. If that card fails or cannot be used, the Skip webview during checkout provides a place to enter payment details directly.
What happens if you change the payment method?
A payment-method change made for a restaurant order applies only to that order. It does not replace the payment card used for grocery orders in your Instacart account. If you normally shop for groceries through Instacart, check the restaurant checkout separately before placing the order.
Which currencies and credits apply?
- Canadian restaurant charges are shown in CAD.
- Instacart credits and rewards are not accepted for restaurant orders, according to the current help guidance.
- Restaurant pricing, delivery fees, service fees, taxes and tips are shown in the restaurant checkout total.
Understanding fees before you order
Do not assume that a grocery delivery fee, coupon or account credit carries over to a restaurant cart. Restaurant charges are calculated in the restaurant checkout, and the total can include menu prices, delivery and service fees, taxes and your selected tip. Review each line before placing the order because the restaurant transaction follows a separate fulfillment and merchant arrangement.
The delivery address can affect which restaurants, menus and fees appear. Two Canadian addresses may show different options, and the help pages do not promise a fixed nationwide restaurant list. Treat the live cart as the authoritative quote for your address.

Current Instacart Help Center guidance says eligible Instacart+ members receive a $0 delivery fee on restaurant orders of $15 or more, with the threshold calculated before taxes, fees and tips. The same guidance describes a reduced service fee as an IC+ Perk at checkout.
- The $15 condition is an order threshold, not a guarantee that every restaurant order qualifies.
- Alcohol is excluded from this stated benefit.
- The order must be eligible under the terms displayed for your account and location.
- Fees and promotions can change, so verify the live checkout before placing the order.
The help pages describe the benefit as a current membership condition, not as a universal discount on every restaurant purchase. If the expected $0 delivery fee or reduced service fee does not appear, do not assume it will be applied after payment; inspect the eligibility message and total in checkout.
Track an order after checkout
- Open Account in the Instacart app.
- Tap Orders.
- Open Restaurant orders.
- Select the relevant order to view its current status and details.
An active restaurant order may also appear at the top of the Instacart home screen. The status shown there is for the restaurant order, not a grocery delivery in the same account. Keep the order details available if you need to contact support about a missing item, delay, payment issue or refund.

Get help with a restaurant order
For an active order
- Open Order History in the Instacart app.
- Select the active restaurant order.
- Choose Get Help.
The restaurant help menu may also show Need Help? and a route to SkipTheDishes chat support. Use the restaurant-order help path rather than a grocery-order support category so the request is routed with the correct fulfillment information.

The shared Instacart account can make the two experiences look similar, but they are not the same workflow. Use these distinctions when checking a charge, benefit or support request.

Common problems and what to do
You cannot find Restaurants
Confirm that you are using the Instacart mobile app on iOS or Android and that your delivery address is in Canada. The official help description does not promise a universal restaurant list for every Canadian location. Update the app if an update is available, sign in again, and check whether the Restaurants area appears for the selected address. Do not try to create a separate SkipTheDishes login as a substitute for the in-app partnership.
You declined consent and changed your mind
The partnership requires active consent to share the listed customer information. Return to the Instacart app’s Restaurants area and review the prompt if it is shown again. If the app does not present it again, use Instacart’s in-app help for account-specific guidance; there is no separate Skip app account from this flow that you can activate manually.
Your card was rejected
Recheck the payment method shown at checkout. Instacart says the default card is sent to the linked SkipTheDishes account when an item is first added. If it cannot be used, enter payment details in the Skip webview during checkout. A restaurant-order payment update will not change your grocery-order card.

The expected Instacart+ savings are missing
Check that the restaurant subtotal reaches $15 before taxes, fees and tips, that the order does not include excluded alcohol, and that your membership is active. Then inspect the live checkout for the IC+ Perk and delivery-fee line. The help-page terms and promotions can change, and the benefit is not established for every location or every order.
You are looking for the order in the wrong place
Restaurant orders appear under Account → Orders → Restaurant orders. An active order can also be pinned at the top of the home screen. Looking only in a grocery-order list can make a successfully placed restaurant order seem missing.

Start with the restaurant order’s Get Help path in Instacart. Because SkipTheDishes is the merchant of record, it handles the merchant-side charge, refund and dispute process for that restaurant order.

Instacart’s guidance says it is not accessible through the SkipTheDishes app, so installing that app or attempting a normal Skip login will not expose the restaurant order placed through Instacart.
What to check before you tap Place order
- The restaurant and menu items match what you intended to buy.
- Your address is correct for the restaurant delivery.
- The payment card or payment details shown in the checkout are usable.
- The total is in CAD and includes the fees, taxes and tip you expect.
- If you rely on Instacart+, the subtotal is at least $15 before taxes, fees and tips and does not include excluded alcohol.
- The live checkout shows any delivery-fee or IC+ Perk treatment you expect.
- You know that SkipTheDishes, not a separate grocery-order workflow, fulfills and handles the restaurant transaction.
