How to limit MONOPOLY GO notifications, battery use and mobile data

MONOPOLY GO notifications are controlled by your phone, not by a separate in-game switch. On iPhone, turn off the game’s cellular-data permission for reliable Wi-Fi-only use. On Android, use Data Saver and the game’s background-data permission, and set a warning or hard limit where your phone supports it. To reduce battery impact, combine quieter notifications, fewer background connections, Wi-Fi when practical and shorter periods with the display on.

There is no authoritative MONOPOLY GO battery benchmark. Your result depends on the phone model, brightness, network conditions, heat, play time and whether the game remains open, so measure your own phone rather than relying on a promised percentage reduction.

What each phone setting can and cannot control

Scopely describes push alerts as a device-level choice: “If you no longer want to receive them, you can turn them off at the device level.” That means the operating system’s notification controls are the dependable place to silence MONOPOLY GO. The game may still create alerts internally, but the phone can block delivery, sound or display.

Data and battery controls are separate. A notification permission decides whether an alert is shown. A cellular-data permission decides whether the app can use your carrier connection. Data Saver or Low Data Mode mainly limits background work. Battery-saver modes may delay refreshes or notifications but do not necessarily prevent every network request while you are actively playing.

Menu names differ by iOS release, Android release and manufacturer software. If a label is slightly different, look for the same function under Notifications, Cellular or Mobile data, Network and internet, Data usage, or Battery.

Stop or reduce MONOPOLY GO notifications

iPhone: silence everything

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Notifications.
  3. Select MONOPOLY GO.
  4. Turn off Allow Notifications.

This prevents banners, sounds, Lock Screen alerts and notification-badge updates for the game. It does not uninstall the app or stop you receiving information when you open it. Re-enable the switch whenever you want alerts again.

iPhone: keep alerts but make them less intrusive

Leave Allow Notifications on, then clear only the locations you do not want. You can remove the Lock Screen, Notification Centre or banner presentation, turn off sounds, and disable badges while retaining a less disruptive form of alert. The available switches and their arrangement can vary between iOS versions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use this option when you want event reminders but do not want a sound or a persistent icon. If an alert still appears, return to the MONOPOLY GO notification page and check every selected alert location rather than only the sound setting.

Android: turn off all alerts

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Open Notifications, then App notifications (the wording varies).
  3. Choose MONOPOLY GO.
  4. Turn the app’s notifications off.

Some Android phones show a single master switch; others show separate categories. Turning off the master switch blocks all categories. If you still see a category list, check that no category remains enabled for pop-ups, sound or the Lock Screen.

Android: block only promotional or event categories

When categories are exposed, leave useful account or activity alerts enabled and disable promotional, event or reminder categories. Android can learn from your choices and may move infrequent categories into a quieter area. Category names are supplied by the app and can change after an update, so review them if a new type of alert appears.

Confirm that the change worked

Wait for a known event or another expected alert after changing the setting. If nothing arrives, that confirms the selected behavior; if an alert appears, check both the app’s category switches and any system-wide notification modes such as Focus or Do Not Disturb. A system-wide mode can hide an alert temporarily, while the app-level setting determines whether MONOPOLY GO is allowed to post it at all.

Block MONOPOLY GO cellular data on an iPhone

Use the app’s cellular switch for Wi-Fi-only access

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Cellular (called Mobile Data in some regions).
  3. Scroll to the app list and find MONOPOLY GO.
  4. Turn its cellular-data switch off.

Apple says an app with cellular data disabled uses Wi-Fi only. The game can still connect when the iPhone is on a Wi-Fi network, but it cannot use the carrier connection through that app permission. If Wi-Fi drops, online features will wait until Wi-Fi returns or you change the switch.

This is an app-specific control: other apps can continue using cellular data. It is therefore more precise than switching mobile data off for the whole phone.

Use Low Data Mode for additional background savings

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Cellular or Mobile Data.
  3. Open Cellular Data Options.
  4. Turn on Low Data Mode.

Apple describes Low Data Mode as pausing automatic updates and background tasks when the iPhone is not connected to Wi-Fi. It is useful when you still need cellular access for some apps but want fewer background transfers. It is not a replacement for the MONOPOLY GO cellular switch: the game may still use cellular data while you actively play unless you turn that app switch off.

Check how much data the game used

On the Settings → Cellular screen, the figure beneath MONOPOLY GO is the usage counted during the current statistics period. Record it before a normal play session and again afterward. To begin a fresh measurement period, scroll to the bottom and use Reset Statistics; reset only when you are ready to measure from zero because the reset affects the phone’s displayed totals for all apps.

Restrict MONOPOLY GO mobile data on Android

Turn on Data Saver

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Network & internet (the wording varies by manufacturer).
  3. Tap Data Saver.
  4. Turn Data Saver on.

Android’s Data Saver restricts background mobile-data activity. The game may therefore stop checking in while it is closed, while foreground use can continue when you open and play it. This is a data-saving compromise rather than a guaranteed Wi-Fi-only lock.

Remove an unrestricted-data exception

Data Saver includes an Unrestricted data access list on supported phones. Open that list and check whether MONOPOLY GO has been granted an exception. Remove it unless immediate background activity is more important than conserving mobile data. An unrestricted exception allows the app to bypass Data Saver’s background restriction.

After removing the exception, expect some game functions to wait until Wi-Fi is available or until you open the app. That delay is the intended consequence of limiting background access, not necessarily a fault.

Set a warning or hard limit on a Pixel

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Network & internet, then SIMs.
  3. Choose App data usage to view per-app totals.
  4. Use Data warning & limit to set an alert amount or a hard cutoff.

On Pixel phones, the warning can notify you at a chosen total, while the limit can automatically turn mobile data off when the specified amount is reached. The limit applies to the phone’s mobile-data connection, so it can interrupt every app, not only MONOPOLY GO. Check the billing-cycle dates so the warning matches your carrier period.

Know the Android limitation

Android manufacturers do not present one universal per-app foreground-data switch. Data Saver primarily governs background activity, and the exact per-app controls vary. If your phone provides a MONOPOLY GO mobile-data toggle, disable it in the app’s data-usage page for a closer equivalent to the iPhone setting. If it does not, switching mobile data off from the system controls while you play is the reliable way to ensure that no app uses the carrier connection; Wi-Fi remains available.

Make MONOPOLY GO use Wi-Fi only

iPhone: the precise method

Turn off MONOPOLY GO under Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Data) as described above. Leave Wi-Fi enabled. The app can then connect when the phone is on Wi-Fi and cannot use cellular data through its own permission.

Android: choose between background restriction and a true cutoff

Data Saver plus removal from Unrestricted data access is appropriate when you mainly want to stop background transfers. It does not necessarily prevent data used while the game is open. For a strict Wi-Fi-only session, use your phone’s per-app mobile-data switch if one is available; otherwise turn mobile data off system-wide before opening the game. Remember to turn it back on when you need cellular connectivity for other apps.

Wi-Fi-only operation can delay alerts and background updates when you leave the Wi-Fi network. If you depend on a time-sensitive event reminder, allow notifications but understand that delivery still requires whatever network access the phone and app have at that moment.

Reduce MONOPOLY GO battery impact

What is and is not known

No authoritative source establishes a MONOPOLY GO-specific battery percentage, hourly drain rate or universal ranking of settings. A result from one phone cannot be treated as a promise for another. Battery use changes with screen brightness, frame rate, processor and battery age, radio signal quality, Wi-Fi or cellular technology, heat, play duration and whether the game remains active.

In ordinary use, a bright display and sustained game session can matter more than an occasional push alert. Poor radio conditions can also make the phone work harder to maintain a connection. These are reasons to measure your own pattern rather than assign a fixed saving to one switch.

Reduce wake-ups while the game is closed

  • Turn off MONOPOLY GO notifications, or at least disable sounds, banners and Lock Screen presentation.
  • On iPhone, turn on Low Data Mode when you are away from Wi-Fi; on Android, turn on Data Saver and remove unnecessary unrestricted-data access.
  • Prefer Wi-Fi when practical, especially where the cellular signal is weak.
  • Use the phone’s battery-saver mode when you accept delayed background refreshes and less immediate notification delivery.

Combining notification and background-data restrictions addresses two reasons a closed app may wake the phone. It does not change the power used by a session in which the game is open and rendering continuously.

Reduce power during play

  • Lower screen brightness to a comfortable level and use a shorter screen timeout when you stop playing.
  • Avoid leaving the game open with the display on when you are not interacting with it.
  • Prefer a stable Wi-Fi connection when cellular reception is poor.
  • Stop playing temporarily if the phone becomes unusually hot; heat can increase power use and may trigger performance throttling.

Apple notes that using 4G/LTE can reduce battery performance in some circumstances. The effect depends on signal and network conditions, so it is not a universal reason to disable LTE. If you need to compare radios, repeat the same activity in a location with similar signal strength.

Understand the trade-off from battery and background restrictions

Battery-saver and background restrictions can delay event reminders, postpone background refreshes or require you to open MONOPOLY GO before current information appears. Choose them when battery life matters more than immediate updates. If timely alerts matter, keep notifications enabled and limit only sounds, banners or background data.

Measure your own data and battery use

A repeatable data test

  1. Choose a defined period, such as 30 minutes of normal play, and note whether the session is on Wi-Fi or cellular.
  2. On iPhone, record the MONOPOLY GO total under Settings → Cellular. On a Pixel, record the value under Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → App data usage. On other Android phones, use the equivalent app-data page.
  3. Play normally for the chosen period without changing brightness, network location or game behavior.
  4. Record the total again and calculate the difference.
  5. Repeat once on Wi-Fi and once on cellular if you need a personal comparison.

Label each result with the phone, network, duration and whether the game was in the foreground. A cellular result from a single session is a personal observation, not a universal MONOPOLY GO consumption rate.

A practical battery check

  1. Start with a normal charge level and note the time.
  2. Use MONOPOLY GO as you normally do for a defined session, recording brightness, network type and whether the screen stayed on.
  3. Check the phone’s battery screen after the session and again after a normal day.
  4. Repeat on another day with similar conditions after applying one change, such as quieter notifications or lower brightness.

Changing one major variable at a time makes the result easier to interpret. Battery screens report the phone’s own estimate and can include foreground and background use; they do not prove that a particular setting saves a fixed percentage.

Troubleshoot common outcomes

Alerts still appear after you turned them off

  • Reopen the MONOPOLY GO notification page and confirm the master permission is off.
  • On Android, inspect individual notification categories; a category may remain enabled even when another category is muted.
  • Check whether the item is an in-game message shown while the app is open rather than an operating-system push notification.
  • Restart the phone if the setting changed but an old banner or badge remains visible.

The game still uses mobile data

  • On iPhone, verify the MONOPOLY GO switch under Cellular or Mobile Data is off, not merely Low Data Mode.
  • On Android, check whether MONOPOLY GO is listed under Unrestricted data access.
  • Remember that Data Saver restricts background activity and may not block foreground data.
  • Check the measurement period: an old total can make it appear that a recent change had no effect.

Updates or reminders arrive late

  • Confirm that the phone is connected to Wi-Fi if you disabled cellular access.
  • Review Data Saver, Low Data Mode and battery-saver settings; each can defer background work.
  • Open MONOPOLY GO manually to allow current information to load.
  • If immediate reminders are essential, restore the relevant notification and background-data permission, then limit only sounds or visual presentation.

The phone is hot or battery use is unexpectedly high

  • Check whether the display has remained on at high brightness.
  • Move to a location with stronger Wi-Fi or cellular reception.
  • Close the game when you are finished rather than leaving it active on screen.
  • Compare the phone’s battery screen after a normal day and look for other apps or services consuming power.

Choose the right balance for your goal

Goal Recommended controls What to expect
Complete quiet Disable MONOPOLY GO notifications on the device No banners, sounds or badges from the app; check the game manually
Quiet but still informed Keep notifications enabled; remove sounds, banners or selected categories Only the alert types and locations you leave enabled appear
iPhone Wi-Fi only Turn off MONOPOLY GO under Settings → Cellular or Mobile Data The app uses Wi-Fi; cellular access for the app is blocked
Less background data on Android Enable Data Saver and remove MONOPOLY GO from Unrestricted data access Background activity can wait until Wi-Fi or until you open the app
Protect a monthly data allowance Use Pixel Data warning & limit, or the equivalent carrier-cycle controls A warning can alert you; a hard limit can turn off mobile data for the phone
Lower power while playing Use Wi-Fi when practical, reduce brightness and avoid leaving the display on Potentially less radio and screen work, with results varying by phone and conditions

Start with the narrowest control that solves the problem. Device-level notification changes are reversible and affect alerts, while app-specific data switches affect connectivity. Broader Data Saver, battery-saver or system mobile-data limits protect the phone more aggressively but can delay activity for other apps or for MONOPOLY GO itself.
