To restore Morkvarg to human form, investigate the garden, read his journal, confront Einar in Larvik without attacking him first, and obtain the cursed wolf fang. Return to Freya’s Garden, defeat Morkvarg, then give him the fang. Feeding him his own werewolf meat is a different resolution: it ends the curse by killing him as a werewolf, without restoring his human form.
Choose the outcome you want
| Route | What happens | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Cursed fang | Morkvarg becomes human and mortal. You can then kill him or let him go. | Investigate the garden, learn the truth from Einar, and obtain the fang. |
| His own werewolf flesh | The curse ends with Morkvarg’s death as a werewolf; he does not become human. | Take the werewolf meat from Morkvarg’s body and feed it to him. |
If you want to see the human transformation—or want the option to hear about his treasure—follow the fang route.

How to lift the curse with the fang
1. Find Morkvarg and hear his offer
In Freya’s Garden, fight Morkvarg. When he is defeated, speak with him. He explains that ordinary food turns to ash and that killing him does not permanently solve the problem: the curse brings him back. He offers information about hidden treasure if Geralt lifts the curse.

2. Search the garden and read the journal
Use Witcher Senses to find the key Morkvarg mentions, then unlock the chapter house. Search below his lair by following the route into a flooded cave. Use Witcher Senses there to find Morkvarg’s journal and read it. The journal links Einar to Morkvarg’s crew and gives Geralt evidence to challenge Einar’s account.

3. Confront Einar in Larvik and get the fang
Go to Larvik and speak with Einar. He initially claims that the dying Archpriestess Ulve cursed Morkvarg. Confront him with what you learned from the journal and continue the conversation rather than immediately attacking him and his crew. Einar admits his connection to Morkvarg’s crew and explains that he used his father Toradar’s runed wolf fang. He can provide the cursed fang and the information Geralt needs to use it.
Attacking Einar straight away can leave Geralt with the fang but without the explanation needed to complete this route. If your goal is to restore Morkvarg, make the journal-led conversation before choosing violence.

4. Return to the garden and use the fang
Go back to Freya’s Garden and defeat Morkvarg again. Choose the dialogue option to give him the fang. He returns to human form and becomes mortal.
5. Decide what to do with human Morkvarg
After the transformation, you can kill him or let him leave. If you let him go, he tells Geralt that his treasure is with a moneylender in the Bits district of Novigrad. The treasure-related items listed by the quest guide include the relic silver sword Deithwen and a page on werewolf decoction. This is an optional consequence, not a requirement for lifting the curse.

Alternative: feed Morkvarg his own flesh
If you do not need the human transformation, take the werewolf meat from Morkvarg’s body and feed it to him. This lifts the curse by killing him while he is still a werewolf. It is a separate resolution from obtaining and using the fang.

Defeating Morkvarg in the garden is not, by itself, a lasting cure. The curse revives him after a short in-game interval or when Geralt leaves the garden. Continue the quest investigation and resolve the curse through the fang or his own flesh instead of repeating an ordinary kill.

The quest is listed with a suggested level of 15 by a game guide; that listing is guidance, not a guarantee that every player will find the quest equally difficult. Quest objectives include finding Morkvarg, investigating Einar’s lie, and using his flesh or finding another way to lift the curse.
