You can also allow repeat callers and schedule Do not disturb for recurring focus periods. The exact labels and options vary by phone model, software version, and carrier.
Choose who can call during Do not disturb
- Open Settings and search for Do not disturb. On some Galaxy phones, you can also open Quick Settings and touch and hold the Do not disturb icon to open its settings.
- Find Allowed during Do not disturb and open Calls and messages.
- Choose the caller group you want to allow, such as Favorite contacts or Contacts, if those choices appear on your phone. Samsung says calls from favorite contacts can get through when Favorite contact only is selected.
- If you choose Favorites, check that each person is saved in Contacts and marked as a favorite.
Samsung describes Do not disturb as a way to mute alerts while allowing chosen exceptions. Its support guide says: “When you want to turn on Do not disturb mode to concentrate but are expecting an important call, you can allow exceptions and customize what alerts you receive.” Samsung Support
Decide whether to allow messages and repeat callers
Calls and messages may have separate controls. Select the message exceptions you want, if available; allowing calls does not necessarily mean messages from the same people will also come through. A Samsung Community moderator describes separate call and message settings on some software, including allowing calls while setting messages to None. Treat that as a possible variation, not a universal Galaxy setting: Samsung Community.
You can also enable Repeat callers as an additional exception where your phone offers it. Samsung’s US support guide does not specify the interval that qualifies as a repeat call, so check your device’s setting rather than assuming a particular time window.

Schedule recurring focus time
If you want quiet hours to start automatically, look in Do not disturb settings for Add schedule or Turn on as scheduled. Set the days and times that match your routine. The available label and scheduling controls can differ by device.
Check the other interruptions before relying on the setup
Do not disturb settings can also control selected app notifications, alarms and sounds, and whether notifications are hidden. Review each separately and choose what you need—for example, you may want calls from Favorites to ring while still allowing an alarm. Notification behavior and available options are not identical on every Galaxy phone.

If the menus do not match
Use the Settings search for Do not disturb rather than relying on a fixed menu path. Samsung cautions that screens and settings vary by carrier, software version, and model. Its Hong Kong guide, updated February 4, 2026, also notes that device screens and steps can vary: Samsung Hong Kong Support.
