To show the Hindi song currently playing, add a metadata-driven “now playing” overlay to the video composition your encoder sends to YouTube. The overlay must read the track title and artist from the playback source—or from a text file that source updates—because YouTube’s event title and description are persistent stream details, not a per-song label. In OBS, possible workflows include a compatible source-aware plugin or VLC metadata exported to a text file; confirm compatibility and test the setup before leaving it unattended.
Choose how the overlay will get track information
Every automatic label depends on a chain: the player must expose correct metadata, a plugin or monitor must read it, and the overlay must display it in the outgoing video. If any link fails, viewers may see stale, incomplete, or malformed text.

OBS with a source-aware plugin
The Tuna OBS resource describes displaying track information from supported sources, including VLC, MPD, and Spotify. The playback source must be one the plugin supports, and it must provide current track information. Check the listing for compatibility with your installed OBS version and operating system before relying on it. The listing documents an available workflow; it does not establish compatibility with every setup or guarantee continuous operation: Tuna for OBS.

A community OBS resource describes a monitor that reads ID3 metadata from an OBS VLC video source and can save current song information to a text file. Add that file to OBS as a text source so the scene can show its contents. Verify that the monitor works with your VLC/OBS arrangement, that the audio files have correct tags, and that the file changes at each track transition: VLC video source metadata monitor.

Browser or other player integration
If playback comes from a browser or a dedicated music player, select an overlay that explicitly supports that player and can access its current track data. A title visible in a player window is not proof that another application can read it; some web players do not expose track and artist metadata to an overlay.
Hosted playout
A hosted playout vendor documents a now-playing element that updates with playlist changes using file metadata. This can suit an operator who wants hosted playback rather than a locally running player and encoder, but the documented capability alone does not establish service reliability, pricing, or partner terms: VideoWhisper help.

Set up a readable Hindi label in OBS
- Prepare the music metadata. Check the title and artist tags for each file. Decide on a consistent format such as “Title — Artist.” Plan a fallback for missing fields, such as displaying the title alone rather than leaving a broken separator or blank label.
- Connect the metadata source. For a source-aware plugin, configure it to read the player or source actually providing playback. For the VLC monitor workflow, configure the monitor to read the OBS VLC video source and write its current metadata to the chosen text file.
- Add the on-screen text. In the OBS scene used for the YouTube stream, add the plugin’s display element or a text source that reads the updated file. Place it over an area that does not obscure important artwork or other content.
- Choose a font with Devanagari glyphs. Preview Hindi titles in the same font and rendering environment used for the stream. A font that lacks the necessary characters can show boxes or incorrect glyphs even when the metadata itself is valid.
- Check long titles at output size. Set the canvas and output resolution you intend to stream, then inspect the label at that size. Make sure longer Hindi titles fit or scroll at a legible pace, and that the artist name remains distinguishable from the title.
- Preview transitions and missing tags. Watch the label across several actual track changes. Confirm it updates promptly, does not retain the previous song, and handles absent title or artist data according to your fallback.
Plugin settings and exact OBS menu labels can change between versions, so use the instructions for the installed plugin build rather than assuming a control name or path from another release. The key outcome is that the visible text changes with the playback metadata—not merely when you edit the YouTube event.
Test the full stream before leaving it unattended
Test representative audio and video before relying on the overlay in a continuous broadcast. YouTube recommends testing, checking the Live Control Room preview, verifying the watch page on mobile, and monitoring stream quality. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.

- Confirm that the metadata reader and label update at track transitions.
- Check Devanagari characters, punctuation, long titles, and missing artist/title fields in the encoder preview and on the watch page.
- During a controlled test, restart the playback application and encoder separately. Check whether the metadata connection returns and the text resumes updating.
- Inspect the public or unlisted watch page on a phone as well as in OBS. The encoded result, not only the editor preview, is what viewers see.
- For an unattended stream, monitor the entire chain: playlist, metadata reader, OBS scene, encoder, network, and YouTube playback. An overlay does not make the stream reliable by itself.
Keep event metadata separate from the now-playing text
YouTube Studio lets you manage stream metadata, and an encoder uses a stream key to send the broadcast. Keep the event title and description useful as persistent information about the channel or stream; use the encoder overlay for the label that changes track by track. YouTube’s guidance does not establish that editing an event title automatically synchronizes an on-screen song label. See YouTube’s stream settings help.
Respect music rights and YouTube’s live checks
Showing a song title does not grant permission to broadcast the recording. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the provider to have the rights needed for live content, including relevant music rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other royalty participants: YouTube Terms of Service.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and interrupt or terminate the broadcast if the issue continues. YouTube also says that licensed third-party content may still be interrupted unless the rights holder has added the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Confirm permission for the intended territories and use, and arrange any necessary allowlisting with the relevant rights holder: YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.

StreamNeo plays uploaded videos; it does not go live from a camera.
