1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo keep a YouTube Live product demo running after its video finishes, loop the video in your encoder. In OBS Studio, add the file as a Media Source, enable Loop, and keep OBS sending the stream to YouTube. For multiple demo clips, use an OBS VLC Video source and enable Loop Playlist.
Choose what should happen when the demo ends
| What you want viewers to see | What to use | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Repeat one complete demo | OBS Media Source with Loop enabled | Restarts the file after playback completes. |
| Rotate through several demo clips | OBS VLC Video source with Loop Playlist enabled | Repeats the playlist. VLC must be installed for this source type. |
| Send viewers to another program after the event | YouTube Live Redirect, where available for your setup | Directs viewers to a Premiere or another live stream after the current stream ends; it does not replay the demo or keep the same stream going. |
Looping the source is the option for keeping the same encoder-based broadcast active while the demo repeats. Redirect is an end-of-event handoff, not a loop.
Set up a looping product demo in OBS
- Create or schedule the YouTube live stream. In YouTube Studio, set up an encoder-based live stream and copy its stream URL and stream key. The key is the credential that tells YouTube where to accept the feed, so treat it like a password. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions explain the connection workflow.
- Add the demo file to an OBS scene. In OBS Studio, create or select the scene for the broadcast, add a Media Source, and select the local video file.
- Enable the loop. Open the Media Source properties and turn on Loop. OBS documents that this restarts the file after playback completes. For a sequence of clips, add an OBS VLC Video source, configure the playlist, and enable Loop Playlist; install VLC for this source type. See OBS’s Media Sources documentation.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. Enter the stream URL and key in the encoder’s stream settings, following YouTube’s setup flow. Avoid sharing the key, and check the stream settings before reusing an older setup: YouTube says reused settings also copy auto-start and auto-stop selections. These settings control starting or stopping from the encoder; they do not make a media source loop. See YouTube’s live stream settings guidance.
- Preview before going live. Check the scene, sound, framing, and the point where the file restarts. In YouTube Live Control Room, check the preview before starting; test watch-page access and monitor audio and video during the event, as advised in YouTube’s live streaming tips.
- Start the encoder feed and confirm the broadcast is live. Leave OBS running and sending the looping scene for as long as you want the broadcast to continue. YouTube’s encoder instructions say to end an encoder stream by stopping content from the encoder; then end the stream as appropriate in Live Control Room.
Check the loop and stream before the event
Looping restarts the file, but official documentation does not guarantee a perfectly seamless picture or sound transition at every loop point. Preview the repeat in the actual scene and adjust the file or production layout if the join is distracting. For a playlist, check the transitions between clips as well as the transition from the final clip back to the first.
- Confirm the correct Media Source has Loop enabled; OBS lists this setting as off by default.
- Verify that OBS is still streaming when the file reaches its end. A repeated source cannot keep a broadcast alive if the encoder has stopped sending.
- Check the YouTube preview and watch page, and monitor audio and video while live.
- If you reuse a YouTube stream setup, check auto-start and auto-stop rather than assuming those selections match your current run-of-show.
Plan separately for the archive and rewind
Keeping a live stream active and preserving its replay are separate concerns. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. For streams longer than 12 hours, DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable, so do not promise viewers a complete rewind or archive for a longer broadcast. See YouTube’s DVR guidance alongside its encoder stream instructions.

If the demo is finished and you want to send viewers to a different program, YouTube Live Redirect can hand them to a Premiere or another live stream after the current stream ends. YouTube advises setting up the Premiere first and telling viewers to wait about two seconds for their screens to reload. Redirect does not extend the current stream or replay its video. Details are in YouTube’s Live Redirect guidance.
Troubleshooting: the stream ends or the loop does not work
- The broadcast ends when the file finishes: Check that Loop is enabled on the Media Source actually used in the live scene, and confirm OBS is still sending the encoder feed. OBS documents that Media Source looping is off by default.
- The playlist does not repeat: Confirm you are using a VLC Video source, that VLC is installed, and that Loop Playlist is enabled.
- The transition is noticeable: Preview the end-to-start join in the actual scene. The documentation does not guarantee a seamless transition, so adjust the clip or production layout if necessary.
- The stream stops unexpectedly: Check whether the encoder is still sending content and review the YouTube stream’s auto-stop and auto-start settings, especially if you reused an earlier setup.
- Viewers cannot rewind or find a full replay: Check the stream length and set expectations accordingly. YouTube’s automatic archive information applies to streams under 12 hours; DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable beyond that.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want the demo to keep looping without leaving OBS or a computer running at home, StreamNeo runs an uploaded video or playlist from the cloud to YouTube. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It is a YouTube-only service for uploaded videos, not a camera feed.
