If you’re watching lofi, the fix depends on what ended: loop the video or playlist if playback is still available; if the channel’s live broadcast ended, only the channel operator can restart it. A viewer’s Loop control repeats available content—it cannot revive a stopped live stream.
First, identify what stopped
- One track ended, but the video or playlist is still available: Turn on repeat for that video or playlist in YouTube.
- The lofi mix ended: Repeat the video if you want that mix to start again, or repeat the playlist if you want its tracks to cycle.
- The live broadcast ended: You can check the channel to see whether its operator has restarted the broadcast, or play another available lofi video or playlist. You cannot restart someone else’s broadcast from your player.
Loop an available YouTube video or playlist
YouTube Help says that a video or playlist can be played on repeat. Choose the control for the kind of playback you want; repeating a playlist and repeating just its current video are different behaviors. See YouTube Help: Loop videos or playlists on YouTube for the current instructions.
On a computer
- Repeat one video: On the watch screen, right-click inside the video player and select Loop.
- Repeat a playlist: Open the playlist box beside the video and select Loop.
On a phone or tablet
- Repeat one video: Open the video’s Settings, choose Additional settings, then turn on Loop video.
- Repeat a playlist: Play the playlist and tap Loop in the playlist controls. YouTube Help says tapping Loop again adds a “1” and repeats the current video within the playlist.
On a TV or game console
While the video is playing, open the player controls and select Repeat. Select it until the control indicates whether the current video or playlist will repeat, as desired. Menu placement and labels can vary by device.
If the live broadcast itself has ended
Loop controls act on available video playback; they do not keep the channel’s live output running after its operator stops the broadcast. As a viewer, return to the channel to check for a restarted broadcast, or choose another available lofi video or playlist and enable repeat.

If you own the channel, continuous live playback is a source-and-broadcast task. Broadly, you can operate a local encoder or use a cloud service that plays uploaded video. The local approach depends on the computer or server and its connection staying available. A cloud approach moves playback off your home computer, but a provider’s description of its features is not independent proof that a stream will never fail.
For channel owners: keep prerecorded lofi playing live
Before choosing a method, check that it supports your intended source (one file or a playlist), sends to YouTube, handles the end of each item as you expect, and explains how edits to an active broadcast work. Also compare documented recovery behavior, current limits and terms; do not treat a feature description as a reliability guarantee.

Run the source yourself
A local encoder or a server-based setup can play prerecorded material into a YouTube broadcast. The channel operator is responsible for keeping the source, encoder and connection running. OBS media-source looping and an ffmpeg loop on a VPS are examples of approaches described by a provider, not independently verified reliability recommendations. The exact setup depends on the encoder and source you choose.
