You can go live from an eligible Android phone or iPhone without a PC if you are broadcasting a camera feed or your phone screen. But a phone-originated stream will not keep running after you close the phone. For a prerecorded video or playlist that must stay live after you put your phone away, use a persistent cloud streaming service or another encoder that remains running.
The distinction matters: YouTube’s mobile app is for broadcasting from your phone; a cloud service can play uploaded video continuously without a computer at home. For Indian creators, YouTube mobile eligibility applies just as it does elsewhere, and UPI is available for StreamNeo payments.

Go live from an Android phone or iPhone
YouTube’s current mobile help requirements include at least 50 subscribers, channel verification, no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days, live streaming enabled, and Android 8.0 or later or iOS 8 or later. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. YouTube also says streamers must be at least 16 years old. Check the mobile live requirements before planning an event, because eligibility rules can change.
Channels with 50–999 subscribers may have limited mobile live audiences, and YouTube says their live archives are private by default. Review the audience and archive settings before starting if viewers need to find the broadcast afterward.

- Prepare the channel. Sign in to the YouTube channel you intend to use, verify it, enable live streaming and confirm there are no active live-stream restrictions. If this is your first time going live, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Open the mobile live flow. In the YouTube app, tap Create, then Live. Follow the prompts to configure the stream.
- Set the stream details. Enter a clear title, choose the right privacy setting, and check any audience or scheduling prompts shown in the app.
- Check the shot and sound. Position the phone, confirm the microphone is picking up the intended audio, and check framing and lighting. A tripod can help keep a fixed shot steady, but it is optional and does not make the stream independent of the phone.
- Start the broadcast. Tap Go live. Keep the app, phone and network available for the duration of the broadcast; closing the phone ends this kind of source rather than turning it into an always-on stream.

Use an encoder when mobile live is unavailable or too limited
YouTube also supports encoder-based live streams, including workflows for gameplay, overlays, microphones, cameras and events. An encoder can be a phone app or another compatible source; using an encoder does not by itself make the stream persistent. If it runs on the phone, the stream still depends on that phone remaining active and connected. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
- Set up the YouTube live stream. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and select the encoder workflow available for the stream.
- Connect the encoder. Enter the YouTube stream URL and stream key in the encoder’s corresponding fields. Keep the key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to your channel. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before relying on it again.
- Configure and preview. Apply the encoder’s supported settings, start sending the signal, and check YouTube’s preview before making the stream public.
- Monitor the broadcast. Watch the stream on YouTube’s preview or channel/watch page and verify both picture and audio. YouTube recommends setting up an encoder in advance and validating the stream before an event: YouTube live encoder settings.
If your goal is to stream prerecorded material after the phone is closed, an encoder that runs only on that phone is the wrong continuity solution. Choose a source that remains available, such as a cloud service or a separately managed encoder host, and check its service limits before depending on it.

For a prerecorded stream that must keep running
A phone broadcast is not a 24/7 player. A tripod, charger or power bank may help a phone stay in use longer, but the stream still relies on the phone, app and connection remaining active. To keep a prerecorded video or playlist running after closing the phone, use a cloud-based stream or another persistent encoder source.

GoLiveIndia says its paid plans run streams on its servers after the device is closed. Its plan page lists a free tier limited to 30 minutes per stream at up to 360p, and an Ultra Live tier describing 24×7 looping, unlimited stated duration and up to 1080p. The retrieved plan information does not show a numeric price for Ultra Live. These are vendor-published descriptions, not independent tests; confirm the current plan terms directly at GoLiveIndia’s plans page.

Before paying for any provider, check maximum run time, supported resolution, file-size and storage caps, supported platform, reconnect behavior, privacy and cancellation terms. Make sure the service fits the kind of stream you need: a cloud loop of prerecorded video is different from a real-time camera broadcast.

Run a private or unlisted test
Before a public event or long-running loop, test privately or unlisted. Confirm that YouTube receives the signal, the video and audio are correct, and the stream appears as expected on the channel or watch page. YouTube recommends advance encoder setup, preview checks and monitoring: YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.

Use material you have the rights to stream
Looping prerecorded content does not exempt it from YouTube’s rules. YouTube’s live terms say the provider represents and warrants that it has the necessary rights for exploitation of live content on Google services worldwide, including applicable music licensing rights. Use video, audio and music only when you have the rights needed for your use. Review YouTube’s Terms of Service and applicable content rules before running a long stream.
Plan for the archive separately
YouTube says a live stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a complete recording, make a separate recording or plan shorter sessions rather than relying on the automatic archive: YouTube Help on archiving live streams.
Troubleshoot common problems
- The YouTube app does not offer Live. Check subscriber count, channel verification, recent live restrictions, whether live streaming is enabled, supported OS version and the first-time activation wait. YouTube’s current mobile requirements are listed at its mobile live help page.
- The broadcast stops when you close the phone. That is expected for a phone-originated stream. Keep the phone-based encoder running, or move prerecorded playback to a persistent cloud or encoder source.
- The encoder will not connect. Confirm the stream URL and key are entered in the correct fields, the key is current, and the encoder is sending to the intended YouTube stream. If the key was shared or exposed, reset it rather than continuing to use it.
- The preview has picture but no sound, or the wrong sound. Check the selected microphone or audio input, app permissions, mute state and encoder audio source, then test again before going public.
- The cloud loop stops or does not reconnect. Check that the uploaded file and playlist meet the service’s current limits, the plan supports the intended run, and the YouTube stream key remains valid. Review the provider’s reconnect and recovery terms; vendor claims are not a guarantee of uninterrupted service.
- The archive is missing or incomplete. If the live stream exceeded 12 hours, YouTube says it may not be captured. For a complete copy, keep a separate recording or divide the broadcast into shorter sessions.
Estimate setup time and operating cost
For a phone camera or screen stream, the practical costs are the phone and connectivity you already use, plus any optional mount or other accessories. No India-specific mobile data cost or connection-speed figure is established here, so check your own carrier plan and test the location and network you intend to use.
