To keep a YouTube Live real estate tour running after a file ends, keep your encoder sending video and audio. In OBS, turn on Loop for a single Media Source, or use a VLC Video source with Loop Playlist for multiple clips. YouTube ends a stream when the encoder stops sending content, so confirm the repeat works in the Live Control Room before relying on it.

Set up a looping OBS stream
1. Create the YouTube event and connect OBS

In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or select the event.

Copy the event’s stream URL and stream key into OBS stream settings. YouTube describes the stream key as the credential that tells the encoder where to send the feed; keep it private. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide.

2. Loop one real estate tour file

In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene and select the tour video.

Open the source properties and enable Loop. OBS documents this option as replaying the file when playback completes; its documented default is Off. See OBS Media Sources.

Check that the source is visible in the active scene and that its video and audio play as expected.

3. Loop a playlist of clips

Add a VLC Video source and populate its playlist with the tour clips in the order you want them to play.

Enable Loop Playlist so playback starts again when the list reaches its end.

Install VLC if the source is unavailable. OBS specifies 64-bit VLC for 64-bit OBS.

OBS documents visibility behavior for VLC Video sources. Its default stops playback when the source is not visible and restarts it when visible, so verify that the chosen behavior suits your scene and transitions.

Start OBS output and inspect the incoming preview in YouTube’s Live Control Room before starting or confirming the event.

Let a file reach its end during a test. Confirm the next loop or playlist item begins, and that the YouTube preview continues receiving usable video and audio.

Check access from the channel or watch page and a mobile device. YouTube recommends testing the stream, monitoring audio and video, and checking the local archive. Its live-streaming tips explain those checks.

Keep OBS and encoder output active for the planned broadcast. YouTube’s instruction is explicit: “To end the stream, stop sending content from your encoder.”

Use stream settings that suit the connection
Choose resolution and bitrate for the available upload connection and the motion and audio in the tour. YouTube recommends testing with the intended content and watching stream health; the right bitrate depends on the stream configuration and connection, so do not assume one setting fits every property tour. The platform recommends a two-second keyframe frequency and says not to exceed four seconds. It also recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingestion. See YouTube’s encoder settings guidance.

Prevent rights and archive surprises

Confirm you have permission to rebroadcast the property footage, music, voiceover, and any other material in the file. Streaming setup guidance does not determine whether a particular recording may be reused.

YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement is not a guarantee against an encoder crash, network outage, or an early stream ending, and it does not establish the same archive behavior for broadcasts longer than 12 hours. Check current platform rules before planning a longer event. See YouTube’s encoder guide.

After the planned broadcast, end the event in Live Control Room and stop the encoder as appropriate.

Troubleshoot a stream that ends or goes blank
