You can run that encoder on a computer or use a cloud service. Plan for separate stream sessions rather than assuming one live event can run forever: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, but its guidance does not promise an endless event or automatic session rollover.
What you need before you start
- A verified YouTube channel with livestreaming enabled and no livestreaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- Product videos you have the right to broadcast, including permission for music, footage, demonstrations, logos and voiceover where applicable.
- An encoder that can send a video feed to YouTube Live. This can be software or professional-grade hardware; YouTube does not require a hardware encoder.
- A plan for how the prerecorded video will loop, how the stream will be monitored, and how you will handle session endings or interruptions.
YouTube’s guidance says to set up an encoder at least two hours ahead of a livestream and start encoders at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event. For a 24/7 channel, use those lead times when preparing a session or planned restart, rather than treating the stream as an unattended, one-time setup. YouTube live streaming tips

Set up a prerecorded video stream
1. Confirm channel eligibility
Verify that the channel can livestream and has no restrictions in the previous 90 days. Live content must also comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. 2. Create or schedule a stream in YouTube Studio
Open YouTube Studio and use Live Control Room to create or schedule a stream. In the encoder setup, YouTube provides a Live server URL and a stream key. Enter both in your encoder’s connection settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your stream.

3. Configure the encoder and loop
Choose software encoding for a computer-based workflow, or a hardware encoder if your production needs justify dedicated equipment. YouTube names Wirecast as a software encoder example and recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production-value events; it does not require either a particular product or a hardware device.
Configure the selected encoder to use the YouTube server URL and stream key, then set the prerecorded source to repeat or play a playlist according to that encoder’s current instructions. YouTube’s encoder guidance establishes how to connect, not a universal playlist or looping setup, so verify the loop locally before going live. Confirm that playback returns to the beginning or advances to the next item as intended, with no unintended black screen, silence or gap.

4. Check stream quality and preview
Use YouTube’s current encoder settings and bitrate guidance for your selected resolution and frame rate; there is no single bitrate that fits every output. YouTube recommends RTMPS, testing before a stream, checking the preview and monitoring stream health. Follow its current tables instead of copying an arbitrary bitrate. Before starting the event, check that the preview shows the intended video and that audio is present and at a suitable level. Monitor stream health once live. YouTube’s guidance does not supply a turnkey unattended failover system, so a long-running setup needs an operator or monitored system able to respond to encoder, connectivity or rights interruptions.
5. Start the event and plan the next session
Start the encoder, confirm that YouTube receives the feed, and start the stream in Live Control Room when the preview is ready. For continuous channel availability, plan how you will end and replace sessions without assuming the platform will roll one event into another automatically.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That is an archive rule for streams below that duration, not a promise that a single event can run indefinitely or that longer streams will be archived. Choose between a computer and hardware encoder
Both software and hardware encoders can send a prerecorded feed to YouTube, but YouTube’s cited guidance does not establish which is best for a 24/7 product-video channel. Make the choice based on the complete setup, not on the assumption that hardware is mandatory.

Whichever route you choose, confirm that it supports the loop you need, can use YouTube’s current settings, and gives you a practical way to monitor the feed and recover from a failure.

Protect the stream from copyright and monetization problems
Clear rights for every part of the video
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can cause the live video to be replaced by a placeholder and, if the content remains, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. This can affect a product video even if the main footage is yours: check music, demonstrations, logos, voiceover and any other included material.
A license alone may not prevent a live interruption. YouTube says a licensed creator may need the rights holder to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube’s livestream guidance also requires providers to have the necessary rights for live content, including music rights. Copyright issues with live streams and YouTube Terms of Service.

Permission does not guarantee monetization
YouTube treats reused-content review separately from copyright enforcement. Permission to use footage does not by itself make minimally changed third-party content eligible for monetization. YouTube also requires commercial-use rights for audiovisual elements; a royalty-free or Creative Commons license must permit commercial use if you plan to monetize the content.
