The most reliable way to keep a LEGO console display cleaner is to put it under a cover that fits the finished build. If you prefer an open display, occasional gentle dusting is a practical alternative—but no display can be guaranteed to stay perfectly dust-free.
Choose a cover that fits the finished build
A transparent display case or dust cover limits direct exposure to dust while keeping the model visible. Before buying one, measure the completed display—not just the LEGO set’s box or instructions—and compare its width, height, and depth with the case’s usable internal dimensions. Allow enough room to place and remove the model without catching pieces.

Fit is only part of the decision. Check how the model enters and exits, whether the cover sits securely, how much of the display remains visible, and whether you will need frequent access to rearrange or clean it. A larger or custom console build may not fit a small LEGO-branded case.

LEGO’s US listing for the Play and Display Case – Blue 5006157 describes a two-level case with a transparent cover and six gray baseplates. Its listed dimensions are over 7.5 inches high, 15.5 inches wide, and 5.5 inches deep; the models and minifigures shown are not included. LEGO presents it as a way to store and display models while helping keep them free from dust. Those dimensions are a comparison point, not proof that it will fit your console display.

Other manufacturers also list display cases and clear PET dust covers for brick models. For example, Briksmax’s display-case range shows that such options exist, but you still need to check compatibility and usable internal dimensions for your particular build.
If the display stays open, dust it gently
For an uncovered display, occasional careful dusting is an alternative to enclosing the model. LEGO’s published care guidance does not specify a dusting schedule or endorse a particular brush. Some owners report using soft brushes, but that is anecdotal practice rather than a tested or official LEGO recommendation.

- Consider how delicate or complex the build is and whether you can handle it safely.
- If you use a soft brush, work gently and avoid pushing on small or loosely attached pieces.
- Choose an open display when easy access and rearranging matter more to you than reducing direct dust exposure.
Clean LEGO pieces separately from the assembled display
LEGO’s official cleaning guidance is for LEGO pieces: “We recommend that you clean your LEGO pieces by hand using water no hotter than 104°F / 40°C and a soft cloth or sponge.” LEGO says mild detergent may be added, followed by rinsing the pieces with clear water.
That guidance does not mean you should submerge a complex assembled console display. Displays may include electronics or other sensitive materials that need separate handling. LEGO also warns against cleaning pieces in a washing machine or dishwasher, and against drying them in an oven, microwave, or with a hair dryer; high temperatures can change the shape of bricks.
