To keep songs in the intended order on a continuous YouTube livestream, arrange them in the encoder that sends the broadcast—not just in a YouTube playlist. In OBS, use a VLC Video source for several files, set the list order, leave Shuffle Playlist off, and enable Loop Playlist if the sequence should repeat. Test the entire sequence and audio before sharing the stream.
First, identify which playlist you need to reorder
A YouTube playlist and an encoder’s broadcast playlist are separate things. YouTube playlist controls change the order viewers encounter videos in that YouTube playlist; they do not rearrange the media your encoder is sending as a live feed.

- Reordering videos for YouTube playlist playback: Open the playlist and drag videos into the desired order. On a watch page, the playlist panel can also be reordered temporarily. YouTube Studio documents playlist ordering controls as well. YouTube Help: Create and manage playlists.
- Reordering worship media in a live broadcast: Arrange the files in the encoder’s media source or playlist, then check the encoder preview. The live feed follows the encoder’s output, not the ordering of a separate YouTube playlist.
Choose the OBS source that fits your worship program

- Prepare the files. Put the video files in the order the service should play. Confirm each file has the intended audio and visuals, and that filenames are clear enough to identify in the source list.
- Add the appropriate source. In OBS, add a VLC Video source for multiple media files and add the files to its playlist. If the program is one finished video, add a Media Source instead. If VLC Video is unavailable, install VLC and reopen OBS.
- Set the sequence behavior. In the VLC Video source properties, arrange the playlist in the required order, keep Shuffle Playlist off, and turn Loop Playlist on only if the sequence should restart after the last file. For a single-file Media Source, use its loop control if needed.
- Check the full path before going public. Start the source and watch the OBS preview through transitions between files. Verify that the first item is correct, later items follow in order, the audio is audible, and looping behaves as intended. Make a private or otherwise appropriate test before sharing a public stream.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live safely
YouTube’s encoder workflow uses a stream URL and stream key. In YouTube Studio, open the live stream setup and use the connection details YouTube provides in OBS’s streaming settings. Follow the current YouTube and OBS interface labels, since they may change. YouTube describes the stream key as the credential used by the encoder to send its feed; treat it like a password and do not show it on screen, post it, or share it with people who do not need access. Check copyright and permissions before a continuous stream
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder; if the matched content remains, the broadcast may be interrupted or terminated. YouTube also says that, even when a streamer has licensed third-party content, the rights owner may need to add the channel to a Content ID allowlist. A license by itself therefore does not establish that a livestream will avoid detection or interruption. See YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams.
Before streaming, verify the rights for each composition, arrangement or translation, specific recording, visual, destination, territory, archive, and term with the relevant rights holder or licensing provider. Do not assume a general church performance license covers a commercial recording or every video use.

Understand DVR and long-stream playback
DVR controls whether viewers can rewind a live stream; it does not change the order of the encoder’s files. YouTube notes that rewind is limited for very long live streams. Decide whether viewer rewind matters for your service and check YouTube’s current guidance on DVR on live streams.
