Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →A convincing zombie match cut depends on two things: what the video model generates and where the editor places the cut. A prompt can describe when an action should happen, and some workflows can constrain a clip’s first and last frames, but neither fact by itself proves that a finished transition is frame-perfect. To compare four models fairly, preserve their original outputs, document their settings, and inspect the proposed cut one frame at a time.
What a fair four-model comparison needs
A comparison should begin with the actual four outputs and the conditions that produced them. The available documentation describes generation and editing workflows, but does not identify the four systems, prompts, settings, or results in the title’s experiment. It therefore cannot support a model ranking or a claimed frame offset.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Exact model and version, plus whether it was accessed through an app or API.
- Full prompt, including any event order or timing language.
- Whether a starting image, ending image, or both were supplied, and how those images were used.
- Aspect ratio, resolution, frame rate, duration, and any other changed generation setting.
- The untouched generated file and, separately, any edited copy.
- If the cut was adjusted in an editor, the edit point’s timecode or frame count and the number of frames trimmed.
Show the clips at normal speed before presenting slowed or frame-stepped views. If the native outputs have different durations, frame rates, or resolutions, disclose those differences before interpreting a side-by-side comparison. Label an untouched output separately from a version whose timing was changed in post-production.

Can first and last frames control an AI video transition?
Some model versions offer image-based endpoint control. Google’s Veo 3.1 API documentation says the model can create videos using interpolation or by specifying the first and last frames; it describes the last frame as being used with the initial image as a generation constraint. That is a documented capability, not a promise that an action lands exactly on an edit point. The documentation lists output at 24 fps and duration options of 4, 6, or 8 seconds, with availability depending on model variant and configuration. Google’s Veo API documentation also describes configuration constraints for resolution and certain generation features.
Version matters: do not generalize Veo 3.1 endpoint controls to every Veo release. The documented Veo 3.0 model reference lists first/last-frame generation as unsupported for that model ID. Google Cloud’s model reference distinguishes the documented model versions.

In an image-to-video workflow, the starting image can anchor composition, subject, lighting, and style. Runway’s official guide recommends describing event order in natural language or with rough timestamps, and checking that the described sequence fits the selected clip duration. These instructions help communicate intent; they do not guarantee a transformation at a particular frame. Runway’s image-to-video guide also suggests adding “Continuous, seamless shot” if unwanted cuts keep appearing.
How to make and inspect a zombie match cut
1. Define the visual match
Choose what must align across the cut: for example, the zombie’s position in the frame, face direction, camera distance, lighting, or direction of movement. A transformation can change the subject while preserving these visual anchors. State the intended event order plainly in the prompt, but treat prompt timing as an instruction to the generator—not as an edit decision already made.

2. Generate and preserve the native clips
Keep each original file unchanged. If a workflow uses an input image as the first frame, save that image and note it in the run record. If you supply an ending image, record that too. Keep settings with the output so a later timing adjustment cannot be mistaken for behavior from the model.
For a longer sequence, Runway’s guide recommends extracting the last frame of one clip to use as the next image input. It says adjacent generated clips can then be combined in an editor, where a shared endpoint frame may be removed to adjust timing. That is a stitching technique; document any removed frame rather than describing the resulting cut as unedited model output.

3. Locate the action and proposed cut
At normal speed, identify where the transformation or other key action appears to happen. Then open the sequence in an editing tool that can step through individual frames. Adobe Premiere’s Trim mode shows outgoing and incoming frames while refining an edit, and provides one-frame trim controls. Adobe’s instructions are at Premiere Pro trimming clips.
Record the proposed cut point before changing it. Step backward and forward around that point and inspect whether the outgoing and incoming images make a coherent match. If you adjust the edit, save a separate edited version and record the number of frames or timecode changed.

4. Separate generation timing from editor timing
Timecode identifies hours, minutes, seconds, and frames, so a frame-level edit should be reported with its timecode or frame count rather than an imprecise description such as “a little earlier.” See Adobe’s timecode guidance.
Do not confuse a frame-rate interpretation change with trimming. Adobe notes that changing a clip’s interpreted frame rate changes its playback duration: its example says a 10-second clip recorded at 24 fps, interpreted at 48 fps, plays in 5 seconds. This is Adobe’s illustrative example, not a model test result. The distinction is explained in Adobe’s frame-rate interpretation documentation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to evaluate across the four clips
| Comparison question | What to inspect or record |
|---|---|
| Endpoint control | Was a first image, last image, both, or only text used? Record the method and exact model version. |
| Subject and composition continuity | Does the zombie’s position, framing, lighting, and movement direction carry through the transition? |
| Event timing | Does the transformation happen before, on, or after the intended cut? Use the native clip and frame-stepped view to establish this. |
| Edit-point quality | Do the outgoing and incoming frames create a readable visual match when inspected one frame at a time? |
| Post-production effort | Record actual prompting, regeneration, stitching, and trimming counts or elapsed time only if they were measured. |
| Output constraints | Compare native frame rate, resolution, aspect ratio, and duration; explain any normalization used for the final side-by-side. |
This framework lets readers distinguish an endpoint the generator produced from a cut made more effective by an editor. Without the original files and run notes, no result can establish which of four models placed a zombie match cut best or how many frames any clip needed to be trimmed.
