Use ReSkate only through its own launcher, verify that your game build is supported, keep mod files and forks treated as untrusted software, and preserve your profiles before changing anything. For a Steam copy of skate., the documented way to repair the original installation is Steam’s Verify integrity of game files command. That check can restore official files, but it is not a universal mod uninstaller: separate launcher files, profiles, settings, and every third-party mod may remain.
This guide is specifically for the current PC game and the unofficial ReSkate project. Instructions for ReSkate do not automatically apply to other mods or launchers. Full Circle’s October 9, 2026 policy update supports player creativity while drawing a line at tools that bypass EA systems to unlock paid cosmetics, release gated or unreleased content, or profit from unauthorized assets.

What “safe” modding means for skate.
There is no official, general-purpose mod installer for skate. yet. ReSkate is a separate, unofficial project with its own launcher, supported-build checks, mod controls and data folders. Its documentation and release files can change, so read the current project page before every installation: ReSkate project documentation.

ReSkate has been reported to support offline play, private servers, custom maps and other modifications. PC Gamer reported about 350,000 downloads as of October 7, 2026; that is a download count, not a count of unique users and not evidence that every build or fork is safe.
Before installing: a safety and compatibility checklist
- Confirm the platform. EA distributes the PC game through Steam, the EA app and Epic Games Store. The explicit repair procedure documented here is for Steam; do not copy Steam menu names to the other launchers.
- Check the current ReSkate release notes and supported build. The retrieved README identifies Steam build
25414733as supported, but build numbers are time-sensitive. The launcher performs its own compatibility check, so stop if it reports that your game version is unsupported. - Back up data you care about. ReSkate documents offline profiles at
%LOCALAPPDATA%ReSkateprofilesofflineand game settings and saves at%LOCALAPPDATA%ReSkateGame. Copy these folders to a separate location before deleting files or reinstalling. These are project-specific paths, not a promise about the standard game’s save location. - Use the original project release channel. Prefer the files linked by the ReSkate documentation. Unknown mirrors and forks can contain altered DLLs or scripts.
- Protect your account. Never give your EA or skate. account credentials to a mod author, launcher, Discord contact or troubleshooting helper. EA warns that sharing account information can lead to account theft, loss of content or account deletion; see EA’s skate. account-safety guidance.
- Leave security software enabled. A warning is a reason to investigate the exact file and source, not a reason to disable antivirus or create a blanket exception.
How to install ReSkate mods safely
1. Read the project’s current requirements
Open the ReSkate documentation and read the release notes, supported-build information and mod instructions for the version you intend to use. ReSkate’s launcher checks for a supported game build. A mod made for another build can be skipped, and the README notes that mods that cannot merge cleanly may also be left out.
2. Download and extract the launcher
- Download the latest ReSkate release ZIP from the project’s own release channel.
- Extract
ReSkateLauncher.exeandReSkate.dlleither besideSkate.exeor into an empty folder, following the current README’s choice for that release. - Do not run an executable from an archive preview. Extract the files first so you can inspect the location and keep the launcher’s files together.
The documentation describes both placements; it does not establish that every future release will use identical files or paths. If the current README differs, follow the newer project instructions rather than forcing these names onto a different build.
3. Launch ReSkate and let it check the build
- Run
ReSkateLauncher.exe. - Wait for the launcher to check the installed game build.
- Choose Play only after the launcher identifies a supported build.
If the build check fails, do not bypass it by replacing DLLs from another release. Check that the game has finished updating, compare the reported build with the current project documentation and wait for a compatible ReSkate release if necessary.

4. Install a mod through the launcher
- Open the launcher’s MODS page.
- Use its install control, or drag the mod’s ZIP file or folder into the page, as described in the README.
- Read the mod’s own requirements and compatibility notes before enabling it.
ReSkate warns that mods change game data and that custom scripts can run code. Treat every ZIP, DLL and script as software from an untrusted source until you have checked its origin and contents. Do not install a fork simply because it promises a bypass, paid cosmetic, gated item or unreleased asset.
5. Enable or disable mods in the game
Start the game through ReSkate, open the in-game MODS tab, and enable only the items you intend to test. Disable a newly added mod there before adding another one; changing one variable at a time makes a crash or incompatibility easier to identify. The project documentation does not promise that every combination can merge, so a mod may be omitted when it conflicts with another or targets a different build.

How to judge a mod or fork before you run it
Source and maintenance
- Use the project’s original repository or release page, not an anonymous re-upload.
- Check the release date, supported game build and whether the author explains changes between versions.
- Prefer a release whose files and instructions are visible in the project channel. A popularity number, including the reported 350,000 ReSkate downloads, cannot establish that a particular file is harmless.
Why antivirus may react
PC Gamer reported that Windows antivirus can flag ReSkate. A ReSkate moderator explained that DLL injection, process or memory modification and HTTPS downloads can resemble malware. Those techniques can explain a heuristic alert, but they do not prove that a specific build or fork is safe. Confirm the file’s origin and integrity through the project’s release channel, scan it with your security tools, and stop if the warning identifies a different or unexpected file.
Do not disable antivirus, Windows security protections or firewall controls merely to complete installation. If the original project documents a false-positive investigation, follow that project-specific information; otherwise, remove the suspicious file and seek a verified release instead of creating a permanent exception.
Account and policy boundaries
Keep ReSkate activity separate from any attempt to evade EA systems. Full Circle’s stated boundary covers bypassing systems to unlock paid cosmetics, releasing gated or unreleased content, or profiting from unauthorized assets. A tool’s claim that it can do those things is a warning sign, not a feature to enable.

How to restore the original game after modding
Steam: verify the official files
- Open Steam and select Library.
- Right-click skate. and choose Properties.
- Select Installed Files.
- Choose Verify integrity of game files.
- Allow Steam several minutes to compare the installation and reacquire files it identifies as damaged or missing.
Steam’s support instructions are documented at Verify Integrity of Game Files. Steam notes that some local configuration files may fail verification normally because they are not supposed to be replaced.

Not necessarily. Verification checks the official game installation against Steam’s files. It is not documented as a complete ReSkate cleanup tool and does not promise to remove a separate launcher, an extra DLL, a mod folder, an offline profile or every third-party script. If ReSkate files were placed beside Skate.exe, inspect that location after verification and use the project’s current removal guidance rather than deleting files by guesswork. If the launcher was extracted into an empty folder, keep that folder separate while you diagnose the standard game.
Preserve profiles and settings before cleanup
Before deleting ReSkate folders or reinstalling, copy %LOCALAPPDATA%ReSkateprofilesoffline and %LOCALAPPDATA%ReSkateGame to a safe backup location. ReSkate says these offline profiles, settings and saves are kept apart from the normal game. Do not assume that Steam verification or an uninstall will preserve them automatically.
EA app and Epic restoration
The available official material does not establish a matching repair path for the EA app or Epic Games Store. Check the current support documentation for the launcher that owns your installation before removing files or reinstalling. The EA store page confirms the supported PC distribution options at EA’s skate. download page, but Full Circle’s mod statement is policy guidance, not a technical removal guide.

The launcher says the game build is unsupported
- Close the launcher and let Steam, EA app or Epic finish any pending game update.
- Read the current ReSkate release notes and compare the supported build with the installed build.
- Do not copy a DLL from an older or unofficial fork to bypass the check.
- Wait for a compatible ReSkate release or use the unmodified game until one is available.
A mod does not appear or is left out
ReSkate’s documentation says mods made for different builds or mods that cannot merge cleanly may be omitted. Disable other recently added mods, confirm the mod’s target build, reinstall it from the original release and test it alone. If it still does not load, treat that as a compatibility limitation rather than forcing files into the game directory.

The game crashes after enabling a mod
- Open the in-game MODS tab and disable the last mod you enabled.
- Restart through ReSkate to determine whether the crash is tied to that mod.
- If the crash persists, disable all mods and test the launcher with the supported build.
- Back up the ReSkate data folders before deleting or reinstalling anything.
- For a Steam installation, run Library → right-click skate. → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files.
Verification can repair official files, but it does not establish that separate ReSkate files or profiles have been removed. Keep those components distinct while troubleshooting.
Windows security blocks a file
Record the exact filename and detection, then obtain the file again from the original ReSkate release channel. Do not create a blanket exception or turn off protection. DLL injection and memory modification can produce heuristic warnings, but an assurance from a moderator is not proof that every build or fork is safe.
Your profile or settings seem to be missing
Check the project-specific locations %LOCALAPPDATA%ReSkateprofilesoffline and %LOCALAPPDATA%ReSkateGame. If you made a backup, restore only after closing the launcher and game. Do not overwrite a newer folder until you have copied it somewhere safe.

What a clean restoration can and cannot prove
A successful Steam verification result means Steam has checked the official files it manages; it does not certify a third-party launcher, script, fork or mod. Likewise, launching the standard game successfully does not prove that every ReSkate component has been removed. Keep the distinction between official files, ReSkate files and user data when deciding whether an installation is truly clean.
