Reforj is not yet a confirmed, generally available retail PC release. SteamDB currently records App ID 3202730 as a Windows prerelease from 4J Studios, with the release date listed as “To be announced.” You can install it only if your account already has access to the current official build, such as a storefront listing or other authorized test access.
Once the build is available to you, installation follows the launcher’s normal Library workflow. Multiplayer uses a Join Game screen: the host loads a world, enables Online, chooses Friends Only or Public, and optionally sets a password. The joining player selects the listed world and enters the password when asked.

Reforj PC availability: check this before downloading
Do not search for an unofficial “Reforj PC download.” The current public record does not establish an open download, a permanent free trial, a playtest invitation process, or a current storefront listing that every PC player can use. SteamDB identifies Reforj as a Windows prerelease, developed and published by 4J Studios, and shows its release date as to be announced.
That means the first installation step is account access, not downloading an installer. Use the official account and launcher that actually offers the build to you. If no authorized listing appears, there is no verified installation path to follow yet; avoid executable files, torrents, “cracks,” and third-party launchers claiming to unlock it.

What is established and what is not

Because the build is changing, menus, defaults, player limits, and online behavior can differ from screenshots or older guides. Check the version shown by your launcher and update before attempting multiplayer.
What you need to install Reforj
- A Windows PC and an account that is authorized to access the current Reforj build.
- The official launcher that lists Reforj for that account.
- Enough free storage for the launcher to download and unpack the build. The amount is not stated, so follow the launcher’s displayed requirement rather than relying on an old estimate.
- A working internet connection for downloading the game and using online worlds.
- The same current game build as the people you intend to play with.
A keyboard and mouse are not the only possible input method. SteamDB records full controller support, so a compatible USB game controller is an optional accessory, not a prerequisite for installation or joining a world.
How to install Reforj through a launcher
The exact buttons depend on where your account has access. The following is the documented Epic Games Launcher sequence; if your copy appears in another launcher, use that platform’s equivalent Library installation controls.

- Install and open the Epic Games Launcher using the account that has Reforj access.
- Open Library.
- Find Reforj in the list. If it is not present, verify that you are signed into the account that was granted access; do not substitute an unofficial download.
- Select the game and choose an installation directory when the launcher asks where to place it.
- Click Install and wait for the download and verification process to complete. Keep the launcher open unless it explicitly allows the download to continue in the background.
- When the button changes to Launch, start Reforj from the Library.
If Reforj is offered by Steam or another launcher
Use that launcher’s official Library page, select Reforj, choose Install, pick the destination if prompted, and wait for the launcher to finish patching. Do not assume that a generic Steam feature, a store page seen by another player, or an old test invitation grants access to your account.

Storefront availability can vary while the game is prerelease. If the title cannot be found in your authenticated Library, the problem may be access status rather than a broken installer. The available information does not identify a public access code, a universal price, or a guaranteed listing on any particular launcher.
First launch: update before opening multiplayer
- Start Reforj from the same launcher used for installation.
- Allow any first-run update, verification, or content download to finish.
- Reach the main menu and note the installed build or title-update information if the game displays it.
- Close and relaunch the game if the launcher reports that a patch was installed while the game was open.
- Have every participant update before the host creates the session. Different builds can show different player limits or fail during the join process.
This update check matters particularly for online play. A February 19, 2026 hotfix changed the default online behavior, and a February 26, 2026 hotfix addressed online stability and a loading-screen problem affecting players trying to join. Older videos may therefore show settings that no longer match a current installation.
How to host a multiplayer world
The host controls whether the world is available online and who can enter it. The indexed multiplayer documentation describes the following flow.

- From the main menu, create a new world or load an existing one.
- Open the world or game settings and enable Online.
- Choose the visibility mode. Select Friends Only for a private session with invited friends. Select Public only when you intentionally want an open session.
- If the world should be restricted further, set an access password and share it only with the intended players.
- Remain in the world so it is listed on the other players’ Join Game screen.
- If the platform exposes an Xbox invite action, use it to invite friends through the displayed invite system.
On February 19, 2026, a hotfix made Online disabled by default, enabled Friends Only by default when Online is turned on, and added a warning about the risks of open online worlds and user-generated content. Therefore, do not assume that loading an old save automatically makes it private or public in the same way it did in an earlier build: inspect the current settings before starting.

Friends Only versus Public

A password protects entry to the world, but it does not turn a public listing into a private offline save. Choose the visibility mode first, then use the password as an additional control.
How to join a friend’s Reforj world
- Launch the same current Reforj build as the host.
- At the main menu, select Join Game.
- Review the listed worlds. The screen is documented to show each world’s availability, current player count, and whether it is password protected.
- Select the host’s world.
- Enter the access password if the world requires one.
- Wait for the loading sequence to complete. If the host sent an invite through the platform’s Xbox invite system, you can also use that invitation when it is presented.
If the host’s world is missing, ask the host to confirm that the world is loaded, Online is enabled, and the chosen visibility mode permits your account to see it. A world at its current player limit may also stop appearing as joinable.
How many people can play in one Reforj world?
The answer is version-sensitive. The patch archive says Title Update 7 added eight-player support, while an older Reforj page snippet describes a four-player limit. Those figures should not be treated as a universal limit for every build.
Use the player count shown on the Join Game screen and the limit stated in the patch notes for your installed version. If the in-game value and an old guide disagree, trust the current build. A host should also leave room for the number of players actually invited rather than assuming that an older four-player cap still applies.

Privacy and safety settings that changed in 2026
The February 19, 2026 hotfix is important for anyone following an older multiplayer tutorial:
- Online is off by default. You must explicitly enable it for a world to be available online.
- Friends Only is the default online visibility. Check the setting rather than assuming Public is selected.
- An open-world warning was added. Read it before choosing Public, particularly when user-generated content is involved.
For a normal private session, the safest sequence is to enable Online, leave visibility at Friends Only, set a password if the build offers one, and invite only the people you intend to play with. Use Public only after deciding that an open session is appropriate.

Reforj is not in my Library
- Confirm that the launcher is signed into the account that was granted access.
- Check the launcher’s Library rather than relying on a web search or a shortcut from another player.
- Do not install files from an unverified mirror. The current information does not establish a universal public download.
- If the account still has no listing, access may not yet be available to it; the release is recorded as prerelease with no announced date.
The game installed, but I cannot see an online option
Open the current world or game settings and look for Online. The February 19, 2026 hotfix turned that option off by default, so a newly created or loaded world may remain offline until you enable it.

The host’s world does not appear in Join Game
- Ask the host to remain in the loaded world rather than only sitting at the main menu.
- Have the host confirm that Online is enabled.
- Confirm the visibility setting: Friends Only must include the joining player through the platform’s friend or invite system, while Public must be intentionally selected for open discovery.
- Check whether the world has reached the player limit shown by the current build.
- Make sure everyone has installed the same current update.
- Restart the game after applying a patch, then open Join Game again.
The password is rejected
- Ask the host to verify the exact password and whether the world is still password protected.
- Enter the password exactly as supplied; do not assume that a password from a previous session remains unchanged.
- If the host changed visibility or password settings while the world was open, have the host save the setting, leave or reload the world if prompted, and then invite you again.
The join attempt hangs on a loading screen
Install the latest available update first. A February 26, 2026 hotfix specifically addressed online stability and a loading-screen bug affecting players attempting to join. After updating, restart both the launcher and the game, then retry with the host and joining player on the same build.

The player count differs from an online guide
Do not force the old number into the current session. Title Update 7 is reported to support eight players, whereas an older page described four. Read the limit shown in your installed build and its matching patch notes.
Is Reforj peer-to-peer, cross-platform, or compatible with Remote Play?
In a 2024 Steam discussion, 4JNathan wrote: “We currently plan to support peer-to-peer multiplayer in Reforj. We don’t have anything more to announce just yet, but we’re constantly listening to community feedback!” This is a community statement about a plan at that time, not a guarantee about every later build or a promise of a dedicated-server system.
The available information does not verify cross-platform play, a dedicated-server browser, Steam Remote Play compatibility, or a current Epic Reforj listing. Steam Remote Play’s general documentation explains how supported Steam games can stream from a host PC and invite friends, but that general feature description does not prove that Reforj supports it. Treat those capabilities as unconfirmed unless the installed build or an official current announcement explicitly provides them.

Reforj is recorded as having full controller support on SteamDB. A USB game controller can therefore be a useful alternative for players who prefer gamepad input, but it is optional. You do not need to purchase a controller to install the game, host a world, or join through Join Game. Connect the controller before launching if you want the game to detect it during startup, then check the current control settings for the bindings exposed by your build.
