How to Install Community Rosters in NCAA Football 14

The correct installation method depends on where you play. Xbox 360 supports either in-game Roster Share or an offline USB transfer; PS3 requires a PS3-specific file and procedure; RPCS3 and College Football Revamped use their own modded roster builds. Never copy a file labeled for another platform.

Before downloading, identify three things: your platform, whether you are using an original or modded build, and whether you need an online or offline file. Community roster posts often bundle several formats together, so the first file in a thread is not necessarily the right one. A few minutes spent checking the platform label, season, and compatibility notes can prevent damaged-save errors and lost backups.

Choose the installation route before downloading anything

Community rosters are not interchangeable saves. A standard Xbox 360 roster, a PS3 roster, and an RPCS3 or College Football Revamped roster use different formats and targets. Start by identifying your platform and whether you can see a compatible file through the game’s online sharing service.

Platform or build Primary method What you need Important limitation
Xbox 360 with Roster Share Download inside NCAA Football 14 Working network connection and a visible community file Only files offered through the in-game service can be selected
Xbox 360, offline USB transfer through a Windows PC Xbox-formatted USB flash drive, Windows PC, Horizon or Modio, and an Xbox 360 offline roster The save must be created on your console before the PC tool replaces it
PlayStation 3 PS3-specific USB or PSN procedure The exact PS3 file and instructions supplied by its release thread Xbox 360 Horizon/Modio steps do not apply
RPCS3 or College Football Revamped Build-specific mod installation A roster marked for your exact emulator or mod build Standard console saves may not work with the modded build

Roster posts often include several downloads in one thread. Read the platform label, game or mod version, and any date or season designation before saving a file. Historical gamertags and PSN identities can stop working, so treat names found in older posts as examples rather than current guarantees.

Quick decision tree

  1. If you are on Xbox 360 and a compatible roster appears in Team Management → Roster Share, use the in-game download.
  2. If Xbox Roster Share is empty, unavailable, or does not contain the season you want, use the offline USB-and-Windows route.
  3. If you are on PS3, download only the PS3 release and follow that release’s own USB or PSN instructions.
  4. If you use RPCS3 or College Football Revamped, select the file specifically labeled for that emulator or mod build.

The offline route is more involved, but it is the dependable fallback when online search does not return a file. It also makes platform matching especially important: an Xbox 360 offline file is not a generic roster that can be copied to any console.

Xbox 360: download through Roster Share

This is the simplest route when the community file is visible in NCAA Football 14. It does not require a computer or save editor.

  1. Start NCAA Football 14 and enter Team Management.
  2. Open Roster Share, then choose Download Roster.
  3. Browse or search the available community files and select the one matching your preferred season or creator.
  4. Confirm the download and wait for the game to finish writing the file.
  5. Open Settings → File Management → Load → Rosters.
  6. Select the downloaded roster. Use Depth Chart or another roster-management screen to confirm that the teams and player names loaded before starting a Dynasty.

Roster Share only exposes files that are currently visible through the game’s service. A creator’s old gamertag, a discontinued upload, or a file intended for another release may not appear. If the search is empty, that does not mean your console or game is broken; it may simply mean the desired file is no longer available online.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not substitute a PS3, RPCS3, or modded download in an attempt to make the search work. Those files have different targets. Move to the offline Xbox route instead, using an Xbox 360 file explicitly marked for offline transfer.

Xbox 360: install an offline roster with a USB drive

The dependable offline workflow uses the Xbox 360 to create a legitimate roster save, a Windows save tool to replace its contents, and the console to load the edited file. A random file copied directly to a USB drive usually will not be recognized because Xbox saves carry console-specific content and signing data.

Materials and prerequisites

  • NCAA Football 14 for Xbox 360.
  • A USB flash drive that the Xbox 360 can format and use. No particular brand or capacity is required by the documented procedure; compatibility with your console is what matters.
  • A Windows PC.
  • Horizon or Modio, according to the roster release’s instructions.
  • The downloaded Xbox 360 offline roster file. Do not use a PS3 or RPCS3 file.
  • Enough time to make a backup of the original console-created save before replacing it.

Community Xbox 360 tutorials specifically call for a “FORMATTED USB FLASH DRIVE.” Let the console perform the formatting rather than preparing the drive only in Windows. The flash drive is a transfer medium, not a place to invent a new Xbox save from scratch.

1. Format the USB and create a console save

  1. Insert the USB flash drive into the Xbox 360.
  2. If the console asks to configure or format the device, accept that prompt and complete the setup.
  3. Start NCAA Football 14.
  4. Go to Settings → File Management → Save.
  5. Change the save category from Profile to Roster.
  6. Open the device-selection control and choose the USB drive, not the internal profile storage.
  7. Save a roster with a recognizable name, such as a date or “original backup.”
  8. Exit the game or use the console’s safe-removal process before unplugging the USB.

This save is the container that the Windows tool will edit. Keep an untouched copy; it is your recovery file if the replacement is rejected. The most common preparation mistake is leaving the category on Profile, which creates the wrong type of content for the roster replacement.

  • Package Contents: 1* portable hard drive, 1 *USB 3.0 cable, 1*USB to type C adapter,1 *user manual, shell packaging, three-year manufacturer's warranty and free technical support services

2. Open the save on Windows

  1. Connect the Xbox-formatted USB drive to a Windows PC.
  2. Launch Horizon or Modio and open the Xbox 360 roster save created by NCAA Football 14. The save is located inside the Xbox content structure rather than as an ordinary document in the drive’s root directory.
  3. Copy the original save to a separate folder before making changes. Do not work only on the removable copy.
  4. Import or open the downloaded Xbox 360 offline roster in the tool, following the release’s stated replacement method.

Some community instructions identify Modio 3 for the replacement process, while other releases specify Horizon. Follow the tool named by the file’s creator when the two workflows differ. Do not rename unrelated profile or settings files to make them look like rosters; the editor must open the console-created roster container.

If the tool cannot see the USB, close other programs that may be holding the device, reconnect it, and confirm that the console actually created a roster save. A drive that was formatted but never used to save an NCAA 14 roster will not contain the expected content entry.

3. Replace, rehash, and resign

  1. Replace the roster data in the console-created save with the downloaded offline roster.
  2. Use the tool’s save operation and, when requested, run rehash/resign or its equivalent. This updates the save’s integrity information for the destination device.
  3. Check that the tool reports a completed save. Community instructions describe the desired state as “Saved, Rehashed, and Resigned to device.”
  4. Close the save editor before disconnecting the USB.
  5. Use Windows’ safe-eject function, then reconnect the drive to the Xbox 360.

Rehashing and resigning are not optional decoration when the release instructions call for them. Skipping that operation can leave a file that looks correct on the PC but is rejected by the console. Never interrupt the write operation or remove the drive while the editor is still saving. A partially written container can produce a damaged-file message even when the roster itself is valid.

4. Load the edited roster on the console

  1. Start NCAA Football 14.
  2. Open Settings → File Management → Load → Rosters.
  3. Select the edited file on the USB device.
  4. Wait for the game to finish loading, then open Depth Chart or the roster-management screen.
  5. Check several teams and positions. Confirm the names, ratings or depth-chart changes expected from the release before entering Dynasty.

If the file loads correctly, save a second copy to the Xbox 360’s internal storage or another configured device. That gives you a working fallback without repeating the PC transfer. Keep the original console-created save as well; the edited copy and the untouched container serve different recovery purposes.

PlayStation 3 installation

PS3 releases are distributed separately from Xbox 360 files. Use only a download explicitly labeled for PS3 and follow the release thread’s own USB or PSN directions.

PSN search identities

Older roster releases listed identities such as vikesfan059 in a 2020 release and mjk4life82 in a download walkthrough. These are historical references, not assurances that the accounts still publish files in 2026. Check the newest roster post for the current search identity before relying on PSN.

Because account names and online availability change, an unsuccessful search does not prove that no PS3 roster exists. Look for the latest post in the release thread and confirm the season and game version. If the post offers both an online identity and an offline archive, choose the method your console can actually use.

Offline PS3 files

  1. Obtain the PS3 file from the release associated with your game or mod version.
  2. Read that release’s USB directory and copy instructions in full.
  3. Back up any existing PS3 roster data before replacing it.
  4. Copy the file using the folder structure specified by the release, then safely remove the USB device.
  5. On the PS3, use the system’s saved-data interface to copy the roster to the console storage if the release requires that step.
  6. Launch NCAA Football 14 and load the roster through the game’s file-management menu.

The exact directory can vary between a stock PS3 and a modified setup. There is no single universal folder procedure that safely covers every PS3 configuration, so do not apply Xbox 360 Horizon or Modio instructions to a PS3 save. If the release gives a folder name, file naming rule, or modified-console prerequisite, those directions take precedence over generic USB advice.

RPCS3 and College Football Revamped

RPCS3 and College Football Revamped releases are separate targets from both original-console formats. A roster may be packaged for the emulator, for a particular Revamped build, or for a specific mod revision.

  1. Identify the exact emulator or mod build you run.
  2. Download the roster whose label names that build, rather than a generic “NCAA 14” file.
  3. Read the release’s installation path and overwrite instructions. Emulator files may be placed in a virtual game-data directory instead of on a console USB device.
  4. Back up the current roster or mod folder before replacing anything.
  5. Launch the build, load the roster through its documented menu or file path, and verify several teams before beginning a Dynasty.

Coverage of these projects lists Xbox, PS3, and RPCS3 versions independently. Treat a standard Xbox 360 save, a PS3 save, and an RPCS3 or Revamped roster as different formats unless the release explicitly states otherwise. A file that works with one Revamped revision may not be appropriate for another, so read update notes attached to the download.

How to verify a successful installation

  • The file appears in the game’s roster load list rather than only in the USB or emulator directory.
  • The season, teams, and player names match the release description.
  • Depth charts show the expected changes on more than one team.
  • You can enter roster-management screens without a corruption or damaged-file warning.
  • A Dynasty started after loading uses the updated names and lineups. If you already created a Dynasty, load the roster before starting a new one; an existing Dynasty may retain its original data.

Check more than one conference or position group. A roster can open successfully while still being the wrong season or a partial update. Verification before starting a Dynasty is easier than discovering a mismatch after hours of play.

Troubleshooting damaged or missing rosters

“File is damaged” or the file does not appear

  • Confirm the platform label. An Xbox 360 save will not load as a PS3 or RPCS3 file.
  • Make sure you replaced the console-created roster save, not a profile, settings, or unrelated content file.
  • Reopen the save in Horizon or Modio and complete the tool’s rehash/resign or equivalent save step.
  • Repeat the transfer with a fresh console-created roster if the first container was already corrupted.
  • Check the release instructions for a required game, roster, or mod version.
  • Confirm that the USB was safely ejected after the PC write and that the editor finished saving before removal.

Damaged-file reports are commonly associated with a wrong target, an incomplete save operation, or a container that was not properly rehashed and resigned. Preserve the original backup, create a fresh roster container on the console, and repeat the documented workflow rather than repeatedly editing the same failed copy.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The roster loads, but names or depth charts are wrong

  • Verify that the download matches your game edition and mod build.
  • Load it through Settings → File Management → Load → Rosters before checking team screens.
  • Inspect multiple teams. A partial or outdated file may contain changes for only one conference or season.
  • If the release includes separate “offline,” “online,” “PS3,” “Xbox,” or “RPCS3” files, select the one for your route rather than the first file listed.
  • Check that you loaded the edited roster and not the untouched backup with its original names.

Online search returns no roster

Roster-share availability and creator identities change over time. Try the offline Xbox method, or locate the latest platform-specific release thread. Do not assume an old gamertag or PSN identity remains active. The offline path requires the Xbox-labeled file, a console-formatted USB, and a Windows save tool; it is not a workaround for using a PS3 file.

The USB is not recognized

  • Reconnect it and allow the Xbox 360 to configure the device.
  • Return to Settings → File Management → Save and verify that Roster, rather than Profile, is selected.
  • Create a new test roster on the USB. If that save cannot be loaded, the issue is with the device or console configuration, not the downloaded file.
  • Use safe removal on both the Xbox 360 and Windows to avoid an incomplete write.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Support on Ko-Fi

Protect your saves and keep files current

  • Keep the untouched console-created roster before editing.
  • Keep a second backup of any working edited roster.
  • Use descriptive filenames with the platform, season, and date.
  • Do not overwrite your only working save while testing a new release.
  • Check the latest community post for updated download links, gamertags, PSN identities, and compatibility notes. Historical procedures remain useful, but file identities and availability are time-sensitive.

A basic compatible USB flash drive is the only physical accessory specifically called for in the Xbox offline workflow. No particular brand or capacity is established as mandatory, so choose one the console can configure rather than paying for a feature the procedure does not require. The important preparation is formatting it on the Xbox 360, creating the roster container, and preserving backups.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use an Xbox 360 roster file on PS3?

No. Xbox 360 and PS3 releases are separate formats. Download the PS3-specific file and follow its release instructions.

Do I need Horizon or Modio for Xbox Roster Share?

No. In-game Roster Share does not require a computer or save editor. Horizon or Modio is used for the offline USB workflow.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why must I create a roster on the Xbox before editing it?

The console-created save supplies the Xbox content container and device-specific save information. The PC tool replaces the roster data inside that legitimate save rather than creating an arbitrary file from scratch.

What does “rehash and resign” mean in this workflow?

It is the save-editor operation that updates the edited container’s integrity and device information. The documented completion state is “Saved, Rehashed, and Resigned to device.”

Can I use a random USB file copied directly to the Xbox?

Usually not. The documented Xbox method starts with a USB formatted by the console and a roster saved by NCAA Football 14, then replaces that save on Windows.

Are vikesfan059 and mjk4life82 current PS3 identities?

They are historical identities cited in older release materials. Check the newest roster thread for a current account before searching PSN.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Will an RPCS3 roster work with College Football Revamped?

Only if the release explicitly identifies that emulator or mod build as compatible. Treat RPCS3, Revamped, Xbox 360, and PS3 files as separate targets unless the creator says otherwise.

What should I do before starting Dynasty?

Load the roster through File Management, inspect several teams and depth charts, and confirm that names and lineups match the release. Save a working copy after verification.

The safest decision is straightforward: use Roster Share when a compatible Xbox 360 file is visible; otherwise create an Xbox save on a console-formatted USB and replace it on Windows; follow the release’s own PS3 steps for PS3; and install only build-matched files for RPCS3 or College Football Revamped.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the easiest way to install a community roster on Xbox 360?

Use Team Management → Roster Share → Download Roster when the desired compatible file is visible. Load it through Settings → File Management → Load → Rosters and verify the depth charts.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What do I need for an offline Xbox 360 roster transfer?

You need NCAA Football 14, a USB flash drive formatted by the Xbox 360, a Windows PC, Horizon or Modio as specified by the release, and an Xbox 360 offline roster file.

Why is my edited Xbox roster marked damaged?

Check that you edited the console-created roster save, used the correct Xbox file, completed rehash/resign when required, and safely ejected the USB after the tool finished saving.

Can old PSN names be trusted?

No. Names such as vikesfan059 and mjk4life82 are historical examples. Verify the current identity and download link in the latest release thread.

The Bottom Line

Match the file to the exact platform or mod build. Xbox 360 users can use Roster Share when a compatible upload is visible; otherwise create a roster on an Xbox-formatted USB, replace it with Horizon or Modio on Windows, rehash/resign it, and load it through File Management. PS3 and RPCS3/College Football Revamped files require their own documented procedures. Keep backups and verify several teams before starting Dynasty.
