DREADMOOR Early Access is not available on Steam yet. The store page lists a planned Q4 2026 release for the full game. The build you can install and play now is the separate DREADMOOR Demo for Windows PC.
Install the demo from its Steam page, leave enough room for the store’s stated 60GB requirement, and start a new game. If an old save causes errors, delete the game’s Saved folder and relaunch. The instructions below separate what is playable today from features and terms that applied only to the September 2026 open playtest.

What is available right now?
As of October 16, 2026, the full DREADMOOR product is not released on Steam. Its official listing gives Q4 2026 as the planned release window and does not offer the finished game for purchase or download. Do not mistake that listing for an active Early Access build.
A separate product named DREADMOOR Demo is currently installable. It is a single-player Steam demo with Steam Cloud and Steam Achievements. That demo is the documented playable option while the full release is pending.

DREADMOOR is described as a dark, first-person fishing adventure in a flooded world. Its announced loop combines fishing, boat upgrades, survival crafting, exploration of submerged locations, and combat against creatures on land and water. Those descriptions explain the intended game, but the demo should be treated as a preview rather than proof that every planned Early Access feature is present.
The September 2026 open playtest was a dated event, not a permanent replacement for the demo. If Steam later shows a separate playtest branch, access will be controlled by the main DREADMOOR page’s Request Access option. Install that entry only after Steam grants access.
Install the DREADMOOR Demo through Steam
- Open the official DREADMOOR Demo page. Make sure the product name says DREADMOOR Demo, not only the unreleased full-game listing.
- Select Install Demo. Steam will open the installation dialog.
- Choose a Steam library and storage drive. Select a drive with sufficient free space, then confirm the install.
- Wait for Steam to finish downloading. Keep Steam open until the download and installation tasks complete. The store listing calls for 60GB of available storage; the page does not publish a separate demo download-size figure, so retain that amount of free space rather than assuming the demo is tiny.
- Open Library. Select DREADMOOR Demo in your games list.
- Click Play. Allow the game to finish any first-launch setup, then choose the option to start a new game.
The demo page identifies the build as single-player. Steam Cloud and Achievements are listed for the demo, but cloud synchronization does not make an old or incompatible playtest save safe to reuse after a build change.
Start with a clean game
The official playtest instruction is direct: “Launch DREADMOOR and start a new game.” Use that approach for a first run of the current demo, especially if you previously participated in the open playtest.

If the game opens normally
- Launch DREADMOOR from Steam Library.
- Choose New Game rather than loading an older slot.
- Let the opening sequence complete before quitting, so the new save is created by the current build.
If an old save causes an error
Use the published reset procedure. This removes the local save directory, so copy out anything you need before deleting it:
- In Steam, open Library.
- Right-click DREADMOOR.
- Choose Manage, then Browse local files.
- Open the
Dreadmoorfolder. - Find the folder named
Savedand delete that folder completely. - Relaunch DREADMOOR from Steam.
- Start a new game.
Playtest progress was not intended to carry into future versions. Treat old playtest saves as disposable unless a later build explicitly announces compatibility. If Steam Cloud restores a problematic save, close the game and review Steam’s cloud-conflict prompt before allowing the old files to replace the clean save.
Check whether your PC meets the published requirements
The current detailed guidance is for the Steam PC/Windows build. Compare your computer against every row below rather than judging by one component alone.

The minimum and recommended figures come from the DREADMOOR demo announcement. Meeting minimum specifications means the computer is within the published baseline; it is not a promise of a particular frame rate or graphics preset. Recommended hardware is the more sensible target for a smoother first setup, especially in a game that renders open water, submerged areas, and creature combat.

How to compare your hardware
- In Windows, open Settings → System → About to identify the processor and installed RAM.
- Open Settings → System → Display → Advanced display for display information, and use your graphics driver panel or Windows Device Manager to identify the GPU model.
- In Steam, check the destination drive’s free capacity before starting the install. Keep the full 60GB available-space figure in mind because no separate demo-size number is published.
A desktop or laptop with 16GB of RAM and an RTX 4060 is aligned with the recommended memory and graphics targets. That combination still needs one of the recommended processors and 60GB of free storage to match the complete guidance.
Storage, download, and first-launch preparation
Reserve space before clicking Install Demo
Steam’s listing specifies 60GB of available storage for DREADMOOR. The figure is an available-space requirement, not a statement that the demo download itself consumes exactly 60GB. Because the demo page does not provide a separate download size, avoid filling the drive to the last few gigabytes during installation.
Use the drive that will host the game
At the install dialog, select the Steam library on the intended drive. If the library is nearly full, use Steam → Settings → Storage to review libraries and remove or move unrelated games before starting the download. Do not interrupt the process by shutting down Steam while it is unpacking files.
Expect a Windows PC build
The official announcements describe the demo as a Steam PC/Windows build. They do not establish a separate console or macOS version. Use the Windows requirements above when deciding whether your system is suitable.

What you can expect from the demo
The official store description presents DREADMOOR as a first-person fishing adventure set after flooding has reshaped the world. Announced activities include:
- Fishing as a central activity.
- Upgrading a boat for travel and survival.
- Crafting survival gear.
- Exploring submerged areas.
- Fighting creatures on land and on the water.
The demo is single-player and lists Steam Cloud and Steam Achievements. A playtest announcement listed 12 supported languages; that figure describes the announced demo/playtest feature set and may not represent every language in a future Early Access or full-release build.
Demo, playtest, and Early Access: do not mix the terms

The cited material does not provide final Early Access specifications, save-compatibility rules, content scope, or performance requirements. Do not assume that a playtest save, demo save, or current hardware recommendation will carry over unchanged when a future Early Access branch appears.

Can you stream or record DREADMOOR?
The September 2026 open-playtest notice said there was no NDA and explicitly allowed participants to stream, record, share screenshots, and discuss their experience. That permission belongs to that announced event. It is not a blanket promise for every future build.

Before broadcasting the demo or a later Early Access version, read the terms shown on the relevant Steam page, launcher, or event notice. If the future build presents different conditions, follow those current terms instead of relying on the old playtest announcement.
Steam Deck status
The cited Steam community material says DREADMOOR had not received an official Steam Deck Verified rating. Therefore, describe the game as unverified on Steam Deck and do not promise that it will boot, perform well, or support every control without adjustment. Check the store page again when the demo or Early Access build changes, because Valve’s compatibility badge can be updated independently of the game’s planned release window.
Troubleshooting after installation
Steam does not show Install Demo
Confirm that you opened the separate DREADMOOR Demo listing. The full-game page is a planned Q4 2026 release and may show a request or wishlist control rather than an installation button. If a future playtest is advertised, use Request Access on the main page and wait for access before looking for its install entry.
The download stops or Steam reports insufficient space
- Verify that the selected library is on the drive with at least the store-stated 60GB available.
- Pause and resume the download from Steam’s Downloads view.
- Close other applications that are consuming the same drive or network connection.
- If the drive remains too full, move another Steam game or select a different library, then restart the installation.
The game crashes or refuses to start after a previous build
Start with a clean save by deleting the Saved folder through Library → right-click DREADMOOR → Manage → Browse local files → Dreadmoor, then relaunch and choose New Game. This is the published recovery path for old-save errors.
Performance is poor
- Compare your CPU, GPU, and RAM with the minimum and recommended rows rather than checking only the graphics card.
- Close background programs and confirm that Windows is using the intended dedicated GPU on a laptop.
- Install current graphics drivers through the normal support channel for your GPU manufacturer.
- If your system is near the minimum, lower in-game graphics options before assuming the installation is corrupted.
The published requirements do not include guaranteed frame rates, resolution targets, or preset names, so avoid treating any particular performance result as an official benchmark.
Cloud saves keep bringing back the wrong data
Steam Cloud can synchronize files between systems. If a damaged or incompatible save returns after you remove it, exit the game, resolve the Steam Cloud conflict in favor of the clean local files, and then launch again. Keep in mind that playtest progress was not intended to transfer into later versions.
What to do when Early Access appears
- Read the current full-game Steam listing and confirm that the release is actually available, rather than only showing the Q4 2026 plan.
- Check the Early Access system requirements separately. The current demo guidance may change.
- Review the save-compatibility notice before copying demo or playtest files.
- Read the streaming and recording terms for that build.
- Install the Early Access entry to the library and drive with enough free capacity for its current requirement.
- Start a new game unless the developers explicitly state that existing saves are supported.
This checklist matters because the available evidence does not yet establish the final Early Access content scope, requirements, or migration policy.

Quick checklist for a first launch
- Open the separate DREADMOOR Demo Steam page.
- Confirm that your Windows PC meets at least the i5-8400/Ryzen 5 2600, GTX 1060 6GB/RX 580 8GB, and 8GB RAM baseline.
- Prefer the i5-12400F/Ryzen 5 5600, RTX 4060/RX 7600, and 16GB RAM recommendation when possible.
- Reserve the store-stated 60GB of available storage.
- Select Install Demo, choose a Steam library, and wait for completion.
- Launch from Steam Library and choose New Game.
- If an old save triggers an error, delete the
Dreadmoor/Savedfolder and start again. - Treat streaming permission as build-specific and check the terms for any future Early Access release.
- Remember that Steam Deck compatibility is currently unverified.
