Which installation route should you use?
Eney has two separate distribution routes. The Mac version is distributed exclusively through Setapp, while the iPhone version is downloaded from Apple’s App Store. Installing one does not replace the other: each device has its own operating-system requirement, setup screens and permissions.

If you mainly want file, app, document or desktop workflows, begin on the Mac. If you want questions, drafting, summaries or other assistant actions while away from your desk, install the iPhone companion as well.

Check the chip
Eney’s current product page identifies support for M-series Macs. The beta handbook describes the requirement as Apple Silicon only. An Intel Mac therefore does not match the published beta hardware requirement.

Check the macOS version
There is a version discrepancy in the official material. The current product page displays macOS 15+, while the beta handbook says macOS 14 or later. These statements may reflect different release stages or distribution gates. Before troubleshooting, open the current Eney or Setapp installer and use the version requirement it presents for your account and release. If the installer rejects the Mac, do not assume that the older handbook requirement still applies.
Have a Setapp account ready
The Mac beta is Setapp-gated. The handbook instructs users to install Setapp and sign in before using Eney. The handbook also describes a 7-day Setapp trial during the beta. Trial and membership conditions are subject to change, so the entitlement shown in Setapp is the one that controls access at installation time.
Install Eney on a Mac through Setapp
- Install Setapp. Obtain the current Setapp application for your Mac and complete its installation.
- Sign in. Open Setapp and sign in to the account that has the applicable membership or trial entitlement.
- Search for the beta listing. Use Setapp’s search field and enter Eney Beta, matching the wording in the beta handbook.
- Install Eney. Select the Eney beta result and choose Install.
- Launch it. When installation finishes, choose Open. You can also open Eney later from Launchpad or the Applications folder.
The Mac route is not a conventional standalone download from Eney’s product page. If you cannot find an installer on the web, that is expected: the official product statement says Eney for Mac is distributed exclusively through Setapp.

Complete Eney’s first launch on Mac
Allow time for local model downloads
The first launch may take longer than later launches because Eney may download local models. Keep the Mac connected to the internet and avoid force-quitting the app while that initial preparation is running. The duration is not specified in the official handbook, so a slow or variable download should not be interpreted as a published installation benchmark.
Enable Full Disk Access
- When Eney asks for access, open System Settings.
- Choose Privacy & Security.
- Open Full Disk Access.
- Find Eney in the list and turn its permission on. Authenticate with macOS if requested.
Full Disk Access is the permission Eney needs for workflows that involve protected files or broader file operations. If Eney was installed but does not appear in the list, close and reopen the relevant settings pane, then launch Eney again so macOS can register the request.

Enable Accessibility
- Remain in System Settings > Privacy & Security.
- Open Accessibility.
- Locate Eney and enable its permission.
- Return to Eney and retry the action that required the permission.
Accessibility permission allows an app to interact with parts of the Mac interface on your behalf. Eney may need it for actions involving other apps, windows or controls. Grant it only after confirming that the request is for Eney, and turn it off later if you stop using those workflows.
Choose integrations deliberately
Eney’s product information says it can work with data that you explicitly allow, including calendar, notes and email. macOS privacy controls are therefore part of setup, not an optional afterthought. Enable only the services you intend to use, test the workflow, and revisit the corresponding privacy setting if your work changes. An assistant cannot use an integration that you have not authorized, and enabling every available service is unnecessary if you only want local questions or drafting.

After the model download and permissions prompts finish, test one simple action before configuring a larger workflow. Open Eney, submit a basic question, and then try the specific category of action you plan to use, such as working with a permitted note, calendar item or file. A successful response confirms that the app launches; a successful action in the intended service confirms that the relevant integration and macOS permission are also working.
- If Eney can answer but cannot act on a file or app, check Full Disk Access and Accessibility separately rather than repeatedly reinstalling.
- If a calendar, notes or email task fails, review whether that service was explicitly allowed and whether the account containing the data is available on the Mac.
- If the first launch appears idle, check the internet connection and allow the local-model download to complete.
Update or remove Eney on Mac
Install an offered update
When Eney displays an update prompt, choose Update Now, then select Install and Relaunch. Eney will close and reopen with the updated version.
Check manually
To check without waiting for a prompt, right-click Eney and choose Check for Updates. Follow the update dialog if one is available.

Remove the app
Quit Eney, open the Applications folder, and drag Eney to the Trash. Removing the app does not change the fact that your Setapp account controls access to the Mac beta. If you later reinstall it, you should expect to review the first-run permissions again.
Install Eney on an iPhone
Confirm the correct App Store listing
Search the App Store for Eney – AI Assistant and verify that the developer is MacPaw Way Ltd. This check helps distinguish the intended companion app from similarly named results.
Download and open it
- Open the App Store on the iPhone.
- Search for Eney – AI Assistant.
- Confirm the developer name is MacPaw Way Ltd.
- Tap Get and authenticate with Apple when prompted.
- Open Eney after the download finishes.
Meet the iOS requirement
The listing accessed in 2026 requires iOS 26.0 or later. If the App Store does not offer the installation or reports that the app is incompatible, open Settings > General > Software Update and check whether the iPhone can update to the required version. The App Store listing, rather than an older guide, is the authoritative compatibility gate for the current release.
Complete the current in-app prompts
The listing describes Eney as a companion for active Setapp users. Sign-in, entitlement verification and any optional access prompts can change as the app is updated, so follow the screens shown by the installed version. The exact wording or order of those prompts is not fixed by the listing.
What you can do after setup
The iPhone listing describes assistant functions including answering questions, drafting and sending email, scheduling events, searching the web, translating, summarizing and proofreading text. Those actions depend on the accounts, permissions and services you make available in the app.

The Mac product information positions Eney as a proactive assistant with ready-to-use workflows, connectors, meeting notes, email and notes actions, file and document operations, Mac cleanup, and image or video tasks. These are the product’s described capabilities, not a promise that every connector is active immediately after installation. A connector may require its own sign-in or explicit permission, and a protected Mac resource still depends on the macOS permissions described above.

Installing both gives you two access points to the same product family, but the setup obligations remain device-specific. A completed Mac installation does not satisfy the iPhone’s iOS requirement, and an installed iPhone companion does not grant macOS Accessibility or Full Disk Access.

Eney does not appear in Setapp
- Confirm that Setapp itself is installed.
- Check that you are signed in to the intended Setapp account.
- Search for Eney Beta, not only Eney.
- Verify that the account has the active beta access shown by Setapp.
- Quit and reopen Setapp, then search again.
If the listing is still unavailable, access terms may have changed or the account may not meet the current beta gate. The handbook’s 7-day trial description is not a permanent entitlement.
The Mac installer rejects the computer
Check both the chip and macOS version. The published hardware language is M-series or Apple Silicon. For software, compare the Mac with the requirement currently displayed by the Eney product page or Setapp installer: the current product page says macOS 15+, while the beta handbook contains the older macOS 14+ statement. Use the active distribution gate for the release you are trying to install.
Eney opens but cannot control apps or files
- Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access and confirm Eney is enabled.
- Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility and confirm Eney is enabled there too.
- Quit and relaunch Eney after changing either permission.
- Retry a small action before attempting a larger multi-step workflow.
These are separate permissions. Turning on one does not automatically turn on the other.

The iPhone app cannot be installed
Open the App Store listing and verify both the title, Eney – AI Assistant, and developer, MacPaw Way Ltd. Then check that the iPhone runs iOS 26.0 or later. If the device cannot meet that requirement, the current listing will not install on it.
Eney is installed but not responding
The beta handbook recommends checking the internet connection, restarting the app and ensuring that the latest version is installed. On Mac, also consider whether a local-model download is still in progress. On either device, retry after the app has fully reopened instead of repeatedly submitting the same request.
An integration works on one device but not the other
Review the permission and account state on the device where the action fails. Calendar, notes, email, file access and other connectors are not automatically authorized everywhere. Mac privacy settings govern Mac resources; the iPhone app follows its own iOS and in-app prompts.
Privacy and access checklist
Use this checklist after installation and whenever you add a new workflow:
- Confirm that the app identity is correct: Eney from Setapp on Mac, or Eney – AI Assistant by MacPaw Way Ltd on iPhone.
- Enable Mac Accessibility only if you want Eney to interact with apps or interface controls.
- Enable Mac Full Disk Access only if the required file or document workflows justify it.
- Allow calendar, notes, email or other integrations individually, based on the task you want to perform.
- Revisit macOS Privacy & Security settings if your data sources or workflow changes.
- Remember that the iPhone listing describes active Setapp membership as part of the companion-app context.
A practical setup sequence
For someone using both devices, the least confusing order is:
- Check that the Mac is Apple Silicon/M-series and note the current macOS gate shown by the installer.
- Install Setapp, sign in, search for Eney Beta, and install Eney.
- Complete the local-model download and enable Accessibility and Full Disk Access when prompted.
- Authorize only the Mac integrations needed for the first workflow, then test that workflow.
- On the iPhone, update to iOS 26.0 or later if necessary.
- Install Eney – AI Assistant from the App Store, verify MacPaw Way Ltd as the developer, and follow the current entitlement prompts.
- Test a simple mobile request, then add additional services only when you need them.
This sequence separates installation, operating-system compatibility, system permissions and service authorization. If something fails, you can identify which stage is responsible instead of reinstalling both apps.
