You install a Battle.net game through Battle.net, then use the Xbox app on Windows to find and launch it from a combined library. In this workflow, the Xbox app is a library and launch point—not the Battle.net installer or a documented tool for updating, moving, repairing, or uninstalling Battle.net game files.
What the Xbox app can manage—and what it cannot
“Manage” can mean either organizing and launching games from one library or operating on the files that make up an installed game. Xbox documents the first role for Battle.net titles: games installed from supported PC storefronts appear in the Xbox app’s My Library and Most Recent lists. Xbox names Battle.net as a supported storefront in its September 15, 2025 announcement.

The documented flow starts with installing the game through its storefront. The Xbox announcement describes library aggregation and launching; it does not establish that the Xbox app installs Battle.net games or handles their updates, file locations, repairs, or uninstallation. Use Battle.net for those game-file operations.
Install a Battle.net game and launch it from Xbox
- Install the game through Battle.net. Use Battle.net’s own installation flow; the Xbox app’s documented role begins after the title is installed.
- Open the Xbox app on your PC. Look for the installed title in My Library or Most Recent. Xbox says games installed from supported PC storefronts automatically appear in those areas.
- Select the title in the Xbox app to launch it. The app provides a consolidated library and launch access; the game remains associated with the storefront through which you installed it.
If a title does not appear, the cited Xbox guidance does not provide Battle.net-specific troubleshooting steps. Confirm that the game is installed through Battle.net and check whether the Battle.net storefront listing is enabled in the Xbox app’s library settings.

Hide Battle.net titles from the Xbox library
If you do not want games from a particular storefront listed in the Xbox app, Xbox’s documented control is:
- Select your profile picture in the Xbox app.
- Open Settings, then Library & Extensions.
- Turn off the listing for the storefront you want to hide.
Xbox says titles from a disabled storefront will no longer appear in the Xbox library. This changes library visibility; it is not an uninstall and does not remove the game from Battle.net or from your PC.

Features that do not change Battle.net file management
Xbox app add-on controls
Xbox has described managing add-ons for installed games through a Manage view in the Xbox PC app in its September 25, 2024 update. That announcement concerns add-ons; it does not say that the controls manage Battle.net game files.

Manual library additions on handhelds
In an April 30, 2026 update, Xbox described manually adding installed games and apps to the Xbox library on handheld devices regardless of installation source. The update also describes customizing an entry’s name, icon, launch options, and advanced launch commands. This is a handheld-specific feature announcement; it does not establish the same manual-add workflow for desktop PCs generally.

Historical Insider install-management preview
Xbox’s November 18, 2021 Insider preview article covered features such as choosing install locations, accessing local files, moving games, and repairing eligible games. It was preview guidance for Xbox Insiders, not evidence that the current Xbox app supports those operations on Battle.net titles.
