Install it through the latest NVIDIA app, then enable the October beta Frame Generation Performance Mode if you want the new model. DLSS 5 is not a universal driver switch: each game must ship a supported integration. NBA 2K27 is the first listed title, with Hogwarts Legacy and Where Winds Meet scheduled for later updates. RTX Remix has a separate update scheduled for October 23, 2026.
What the October DLSS 5 update changes
NVIDIA announced the RTX Spark rollout on October 13, 2026, with release on October 16. The October model is designed to reduce the cost of neural rendering while keeping visual quality comparable to the September version. NVIDIA reports approximately 118 million parameters, a 24% smaller model footprint, and 20% lower 4K VRAM usage. It also says the model has half the GPU overhead of the September version at comparable visual fidelity.

Those figures describe NVIDIA’s model comparison, not a guaranteed result for every laptop, resolution, game, or graphics preset. The same announcement reports up to a 1.4× frame-rate uplift for the new model in NBA 2K27. Treat that as an NVIDIA-reported, title-specific maximum rather than a promise for your RTX Spark system.
DLSS 5 support is delivered through game integrations. The NVIDIA app can install the software and apply supported driver overrides, but it cannot add DLSS 5 to a game that has no compatible implementation. In a supported title, the game’s own graphics menu determines which Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, or 3D-Guided Neural Rendering controls appear.

Check compatibility before you update
- Hardware: Use an RTX Spark laptop or PC running Windows. The rollout described by NVIDIA is specifically for RTX Spark systems; an unrelated GeForce model will not gain RTX Spark availability from these steps.
- NVIDIA app: You need the current NVIDIA app. The newest build can be installed from NVIDIA’s website or updated from inside the app.
- Supported game: DLSS 5 appears only in games that ship the relevant integration. NBA 2K27 is listed for the October 16 launch. Hogwarts Legacy is scheduled for November 5, and Where Winds Meet is scheduled for late November.
- RTX Remix users: RTX Remix follows a separate October 23 update and has its own runtime setting. The normal game path does not replace that procedure.
- Restart capability: Keep a system restart available. NVIDIA specifically says to reboot when the Preset C option is not visible after selecting the custom model preset.
Before changing settings, close games and launchers that may be using the GPU. Updating while a game is running can leave the app or driver override in a partially refreshed state.
Install the NVIDIA app update
- On the RTX Spark Windows system, open the NVIDIA app.
- Install the newest update shown by the app. If the app does not offer an update, download the latest NVIDIA app update from NVIDIA’s website and run that installer.
- Allow the installer to finish, then reopen the NVIDIA app if it closes. Confirm that the updated app loads normally before launching a game.
- Open the app’s Settings > About page. This is where the October beta opt-in is exposed; it is separate from the ordinary app update.
The app update is the distribution channel for the RTX Spark DLSS 5 features. Installing a graphics driver alone does not force DLSS 5 into every game, and there is no supported universal toggle that bypasses a title’s integration.
Opt in to the October Frame Generation Performance Mode
The faster October Frame Generation Performance Mode is delivered as a beta or experimental package. You must explicitly opt in before the package appears.
- In the NVIDIA app, open Settings > About.
- Tick Opt in to access Beta or experimental features.
- Wait for the beta package to download. Keep the app open until the download completes.
- When the on-screen installation prompt appears, click it and let the package install.
- Restart the NVIDIA app after installation if its Graphics page does not refresh automatically.
Because this is an experimental opt-in, the labels or package timing can differ slightly from the regular app update. If the checkbox is missing, verify that the app update itself completed and that you are using the RTX Spark Windows system covered by the rollout.

Set the DLSS 5 Frame Generation model preset
After the beta package is installed, configure the model override for a supported game. The override is selected per game, or globally for every supported game.
- Open the NVIDIA app’s Graphics page.
- Select a supported game that exposes Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation, or Dynamic Multi Frame Generation.
- To apply the setting only to that title, edit the game’s profile. To apply it to all supported titles, choose Global Settings.
- Open Driver Settings.
- Choose DLSS Override – Model Presets.
- Select Custom.
- Open the Frame Generation drop-down, select Preset C, and click Apply.
- Reboot the computer if Preset C is not visible. NVIDIA specifically recommends a reboot for that condition, after which you should return to the same path and check the drop-down again.
A global setting affects every supported game profile, not games that lack a DLSS integration. If a title has its own model or frame-generation selector, use the game’s control after applying the app setting; the game may expose only the features its developer enabled.
Turn on DLSS 5 in an installed game
Launch the supported game and open its graphics or display settings. Look for the DLSS controls supplied by that game. Depending on the integration, the menu can expose Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, or 3D-Guided Neural Rendering. Enable only the options the game presents, then apply the changes and restart the game if it requests one.

Do not expect a new DLSS 5 entry in every title after the NVIDIA app update. A driver override can select a model preset for a supported feature, but it cannot create a missing 3D-Guided Neural Rendering implementation, add frame generation to an incompatible renderer, or make an older game appear on NVIDIA’s support list.

DLSS 5 game rollout on RTX Spark
| Game or platform | DLSS 5 status | Scheduled or available date | What to configure |
|---|---|---|---|
| NBA 2K27 | First listed game with the faster model | Available with the RTX Spark launch on October 16, 2026 | Install the NVIDIA app update, optionally opt into the beta Performance Mode, set Preset C, then enable the game’s own DLSS controls |
| Hogwarts Legacy | DLSS 5 with 3D-Guided Neural Rendering scheduled | November 5, 2026 | Update the game when its integration arrives; use the in-game DLSS menu and the NVIDIA app profile |
| Where Winds Meet | DLSS 5 3D-Guided Neural Rendering scheduled | Late November 2026 | Wait for the title update, then configure the options the game exposes |
| Other games | Not established by the listed rollout | Not stated | The NVIDIA app cannot force DLSS 5 into an unsupported title |
The dates for Hogwarts Legacy and Where Winds Meet are schedules, not evidence that the feature is already present before those updates. Check the game’s update notes and graphics menu after the stated rollout window.
Enable DLSS 5 in RTX Remix
RTX Remix has a separate update scheduled for October 23, 2026. Use the RTX Remix package from the NVIDIA app Home screen or from its GitHub distribution, then configure the runtime rather than the ordinary game profile.
- Install or update RTX Remix after the October 23 release is available.
- Start the Remix project or game.
- Press Alt + X to open the RTX Remix Runtime User Guide overlay.
- Open Developer Settings.
- Enable DLSS 5 in the runtime or toolkit menu.
- Return to the project and use the runtime’s graphics controls to choose the supported DLSS features.
If Alt + X does nothing, focus the Remix window and verify that the updated runtime is actually loaded. The RTX Remix setting is independent of the NVIDIA app’s per-game profile, so changing Preset C in the app does not by itself enable DLSS 5 in a Remix runtime.

Troubleshoot missing options
The NVIDIA app has no October update
Close and reopen the app, then check for updates again. If no update appears, install the newest NVIDIA app package from NVIDIA’s website. Confirm that the system is an RTX Spark Windows machine and that the installation completed before checking the About page for the beta checkbox.

The beta checkbox is missing
The checkbox is under Settings > About, not the game profile. Update the app first and restart it. If it still is not shown, the current app build or system may not yet be included in the RTX Spark beta rollout.
Preset C is not listed
Follow the complete path: Graphics > Driver Settings > DLSS Override – Model Presets > Custom > Frame Generation. Reboot when NVIDIA’s app instructions call for it, then reopen the same menu. Make sure you are editing a supported Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation, or Dynamic Multi Frame Generation profile rather than an unrelated title.
DLSS 5 is absent from the game
Check the rollout table and the game’s patch status. DLSS 5 is title-specific; the October 16 RTX Spark launch does not mean every installed game receives the feature. A game may support Super Resolution but not Frame Generation or 3D-Guided Neural Rendering, so use only the controls it exposes.

NVIDIA’s 1.4× figure is an “up to” result reported for NBA 2K27 and should not be generalized. Frame-rate gains depend on the game, output resolution, CPU and GPU load, selected DLSS mode, and whether the title’s integration uses Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, or another feature. Compare the same resolution and graphics settings before and after changing the model, and disable the override if a particular title shows instability or visual artifacts.
October model specifications and practical meaning
| Reported change | Value | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Model size | Approximately 118 million parameters | NVIDIA’s stated size for the October model |
| Footprint | 24% smaller than the September version | Less model storage overhead; this is not a promise of a 24% frame-rate increase |
| 4K VRAM use | 20% lower than the September version | Measured for 4K usage according to NVIDIA’s announcement; other resolutions and games can differ |
| GPU overhead | Half that of the September version at comparable visual fidelity | Potentially more headroom for rendering, but the final result depends on the game integration |
| NBA 2K27 uplift | Up to 1.4× | NVIDIA-reported maximum for the new model in that title |
The model-size and VRAM figures are implementation characteristics, while frame-rate uplift is an end-to-end game result. They should not be treated as interchangeable measurements.
Quick installation checklist
- Use an RTX Spark Windows laptop or PC.
- Update the NVIDIA app from inside the app or from NVIDIA’s website.
- For the October beta Performance Mode, open Settings > About and select Opt in to access Beta or experimental features.
- Install the beta package when prompted.
