Stats is an open-source macOS menu bar system monitor that can display CPU, GPU, memory, disk, network, battery, sensor, Bluetooth, and clock information. The project supports macOS 12 Monterey and newer, and documents installation either from a downloaded disk image or with Homebrew. Install it, enable only the modules you need, then use the troubleshooting steps below if its icons or readings do not appear.
What Stats monitors
Stats places selected system information in the macOS menu bar. Its documented modules cover:

- CPU and GPU utilization
- Memory and disk utilization
- Network usage, including a public IP display
- Battery level
- Sensor information, including temperature, voltage, and power
- Bluetooth devices
- Clocks for multiple time zones
Fan control is also present, but the project describes it as a legacy feature that receives no ongoing updates or fixes. It should not be treated as a maintained fan-control tool.

Check macOS compatibility
The Stats project documents macOS 12 Monterey or newer as the supported baseline and says beta macOS releases are not supported. The project also links a legacy version for older systems, but the supported older macOS versions are not established here. No release-specific or Mac-model compatibility matrix is provided.

Install Stats
Use either installation route documented by the project:
Install from the disk image
- Download the latest
Stats.dmgfrom the official Stats project repository. - Open the downloaded disk image.
- Move Stats to your Applications folder.
- Open Stats from Applications and configure its modules.
Install with Homebrew
- Open Terminal.
- Run
brew install stats. - Open Stats and choose the menu bar modules you want to use.
Configure the menu bar modules
Activate the modules that answer questions you actually need to monitor, then choose and arrange the corresponding widgets in the menu bar. For example, a compact setup might show CPU, memory, and battery, while network and sensor readings can be added when they are useful. Each module has a different resource cost; the Stats project identifies Sensors and Bluetooth as its least efficient modules.

Desktop widgets show no data

Stats cautions that sensor readings represent thermal zones, not necessarily per-core measurements. A label such as “CPU Efficient Core 1” refers to a sensor within a cluster and does not prove that the reading belongs to one individual core. Sensor keys also change between Apple SoCs, which can make matching sensors take time.

Privacy and network requests
The Stats project says the app collects no telemetry or analytics. Its documentation lists requests to api.mac-stats.com for update checks and retrieving the public IP address, with api.github.com as a fallback for update checks. The project says blocking those servers prevents update checks and removes the public IP display from the network module. These are the project’s own disclosures, not an independent security audit.
Source code and license
Stats is open source under the MIT license. The project says its full source code is available to read, learn from, fork, and build upon in the exelban/Stats repository.
