Troubleshoot stutter in a sensible order
Nintendo’s guidance for problems with downloaded Switch 2 software recommends the checks below. They are general troubleshooting measures, not a Streets of Survival-specific performance procedure. Nintendo’s downloaded-software troubleshooting guide has the full instructions.
- Restart the console. Use a normal restart, then launch the game again and check whether the problem continues.
- Check for game and system updates. From HOME, highlight the game without starting it, press + or –, then select Software Update and Via the Internet. Also check for a Switch 2 system update in System Settings. Update availability can change, so the console’s current listing is the best check.
- Scan the game for corrupted data. Open System Settings → Data Management → Manage Software, select The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival, then choose Scan for Corrupted Data. Follow the console’s prompts if it finds an issue.
- If the game is on a microSD card, test system memory. Nintendo’s general troubleshooting includes card checks and trying the download directly on system memory. This can help determine whether storage is involved; it does not mean that buying a new card will improve frame rate.
- Delete and redownload the game if the other checks fail. Use Nintendo’s software-management guidance and make sure you can access your account before removing the download. Then download it again and test the game.
Settings and changes that are not established fixes
A review reports that screen shake can be reduced. Treat that as a visual-comfort option: the available evidence does not show that changing it improves frame rate or removes stutter. The reviewed sources also do not establish a performance benefit from switching between handheld and docked play, changing controllers, adding a cooling accessory, or using an optimization app.

If the issue remains after Nintendo’s checks, note when it occurs and whether it began after an update or a change in storage. Those details can help distinguish a recurring game behavior from a one-off software or storage problem when seeking support.
