If noise cancelling seems weak on your Nothing Headphone (1) Pro, start by checking the Noise Control setting in Nothing X and making sure both ear cushions seal evenly around your ears. For calls, distinguish what you hear from the voice and background noise the other person hears: ANC is for listening, while the microphones’ Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) is designed to reduce background noise in your outgoing audio.
Make sure the cushions seal around your ears
A loose, displaced, or poorly fitted cushion can reduce or even negate noise cancellation, according to Nothing Support. Check both sides: the cushions should sit snugly all the way around your ears, without hair or glasses disrupting contact. Reseat the headphones and adjust the headband if one side feels less secure.

Check the Noise Control mode in Nothing X
Open the Nothing X app and go to Noise Control. Nothing lists High, Medium, Low, and Adaptive modes for Headphone (1) Pro. Try the available modes in the place where cancellation feels weak; there is no single mode established as best for every environment or listener.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteCompare how much steady background noise you perceive, whether the setting remains comfortable, and whether it affects call intelligibility for the person at the other end. Nothing advertises ANC of up to 46 dB, but that is a manufacturer maximum-depth claim, not a guaranteed reduction for every frequency, fit, or user. It should not be treated as a direct prediction of what you will hear in a particular room.

Give ANC Strong time to settle
Nothing Support says ANC Strong can take 7–15 seconds for FIR convergence when you first put on the headphones or switch into that mode. Wait for that interval before deciding whether the setting has helped.
Separate listening noise cancellation from call noise reduction
ANC reduces outside noise that reaches your ears while listening. ENC—Environmental Noise Cancellation—works on background noise picked up by the microphones during calls and voicenotes. Nothing describes two microphones on each side as part of this call-focused processing. If you can hear nearby noise yourself, that does not by itself establish what the other person hears; ask them whether the problem is background noise in your outgoing voice.

Nothing says its Clear Voice Technology was trained on 30 million scenarios. That is the company’s description, not an independently verified measure of call quality. A TechRadar reviewer reported that callers found the reviewer’s voice clear during a windy-day test on the Dorset coastline, but that is one reviewer’s observation, not a controlled benchmark or a guarantee across rooms, phones, calling apps, and network conditions.
