If movement in Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun Boom feels late or unresponsive, start with the game’s own control menu. Verify whether auto-fire is enabled, test it both ways, review manual button binding, and compare touch input with a compatible phone controller if the game exposes that option. These changes can alter comfort and perceived responsiveness, but no official source provides a measured latency reduction, a guaranteed setting, or a device-specific fix.
This guide covers Boltgun Boom, the mobile iOS and Android FPS—not the earlier Boltgun release for PC and consoles. Menus and available controls can differ by version, operating system, phone and input device.

First, identify the game and establish what “lag” means
The title is easy to confuse with the original Boltgun. Boltgun Boom is the mobile game announced for iOS and Android, with a product description built around fast movement and mobile-optimized controls. Advice written for the PC or console game may refer to configuration files, console commands or graphics options that do not exist in Boom.

#1 Best Overall
- Compatible with Windows and Android.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
Also separate several problems that players commonly call “input lag”:
- Control delay: you press or drag, and the character begins moving noticeably later.
- Low or uneven frame delivery: movement starts promptly but appears to stutter or skip.
- Control friction: the virtual stick, buttons or camera placement make an intended action difficult to perform.
- Action behavior: firing or another action is automated, so the game does not respond in the way you expect.
A recent community discussion includes one player’s description that the movement controls were “just not responsive.” That is a useful symptom report, not a controlled latency measurement. Treat your own impression in the same way: record what feels wrong, then change one variable at a time so you can tell whether the change helped.
Check the in-game control menu before changing the phone
A player report says Boom has an auto-fire setting, a controller option and manual control binding. The report is community evidence rather than a complete, version-independent manual, so verify each item in your installed copy.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Launch Boltgun Boom and open its settings or pause menu.
- Choose the section labelled for controls, input or a similar term.
- Read every available touch and controller option before changing anything. Labels and menu locations may differ between releases.
- Change one setting, return to play and test the same movement or firing action for a few minutes.
- Record which option was active and whether the problem was delayed movement, missed input, uncomfortable layout or something else.
If an option mentioned below is absent, do not substitute a setting from a guide for the original Boltgun. The feature may not be present in your build, may be limited to a particular operating system or device, or may have been renamed.

Test auto-fire on and off
The player report says auto-fire is enabled by default and can be disabled. If your menu contains that switch, play a short, repeatable section with auto-fire on, then repeat it with auto-fire off.
- With auto-fire enabled, concentrate on movement, aiming and when the weapon begins firing. Automatic firing can make the game feel more immediate for some touch layouts, while making precise timing harder for others.
- With auto-fire disabled, press the fire control deliberately while moving. This adds a separate touch action, but it may make your intended sequence easier to control.
- Judge the result by whether the character and weapon perform the action you intended, not by assuming either mode changes the phone’s physical latency.
No official latency test establishes that either mode is faster. The useful result is the mode that makes your inputs easier to recognize and repeat on your device.
Review manual bindings
The same community report says controls can be bound manually. If your version exposes binding, inspect every movement, look, jump, fire and other action that you use regularly.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Select an action in the binding screen.
- Press the desired touch or physical input when the game asks for it.
- Check whether the new input replaced an existing binding or created a second binding.
- Look for conflicts, especially when one button is assigned to two actions.
- Save or apply the layout, then test it in a safe area before entering a difficult encounter.
Manual binding changes what an input does; it does not constitute proof of lower latency. If the game shows no way to move or resize on-screen controls, do not assume a layout editor exists. The player who reported the other options also requested a way to edit the on-screen layout, which indicates that such editing was not confirmed as available in that discussion.

Make a controlled touch-input comparison
Touch is the default path for a mobile FPS, but comfort and consistency depend on the phone, screen size, finger position and the game’s current interface. Use a repeatable comparison rather than changing several settings at once.
Use the same test each time
- Choose one short area with enough room to walk, turn and fire.
- Start with the current default controls and note how long it takes for a movement or turn to begin after your finger input.
- Repeat the route with auto-fire changed, if that option exists.
- If manual binding is available, alter only one action and repeat the route.
- Keep the phone orientation, grip and test route the same for each run.
This procedure cannot produce a laboratory latency number. It helps distinguish a configuration that feels easier from one that merely seems different because the test changed.
Do not assume undocumented sensitivity or graphics fixes
The official material reviewed does not document recommended sensitivity values, graphics settings, frame-rate targets, synchronization switches or device-specific tweaks for Boom. Do not present a particular sensitivity number as a proven fix, and do not claim that lowering graphics, disabling synchronization or changing a frame-rate setting cures input lag in this game.
Recommended Free Tools
If your version does expose one of those controls, you may test it as an experiment, but label the result accurately: it is a personal observation on your phone and build, not an official Boom recommendation or a measured latency improvement.

Try a compatible controller as an alternative input method
The community report says Boom includes a controller option. A phone-compatible Bluetooth controller may give you physical sticks and buttons instead of a virtual layout. That can improve comfort, precision or button access for a particular player, but the available sources do not show that a controller reduces measured input latency.
Verify compatibility before buying
- Confirm that your phone supports the controller’s connection method and operating system.
- Confirm that the current Boom build recognizes that type of controller; phone-level pairing alone does not prove in-game support.
- Check whether the game has a controller toggle or binding screen in its own controls menu.
- Keep touch controls available until you have tested movement, camera, firing and every action you need.
Pair and test without changing several variables
- Pair the controller with the phone using the phone’s normal Bluetooth procedure.
- Open Boom and enable its controller option if the menu provides one.
- Check the displayed bindings or manually bind controls if the game permits it.
- Repeat the same short movement-and-firing route used for the touch test.
- Compare comfort, precision, button access and perceived responsiveness—not an assumed latency advantage.
If the controller is not detected, first check whether the phone shows it as connected and whether Boom has an explicit controller setting. If it works in the phone but not in Boom, compatibility with the game remains unconfirmed; do not treat the accessory as a guaranteed solution.
Touch versus controller: choose for the problem you actually have
| Factor | Touch controls | Compatible controller |
|---|---|---|
| Comfort | Uses the phone screen and your chosen grip; comfort varies with the on-screen layout. | Provides physical sticks and buttons, which some players may find easier to hold consistently. |
| Precision | Depends on finger placement and the controls exposed by the current build. | May feel more predictable for analog movement or repeated button presses, but no universal result is established. |
| Button access | Can require reaching across the screen; manual binding may help if available. | Physical buttons can make simultaneous actions easier for some players. |
| Compatibility | Available as the native mobile method, subject to the game’s current interface. | Requires support from both the phone and Boom; pairing with the phone alone is insufficient. |
| Perceived responsiveness | May feel better or worse depending on layout, grip and the individual device. | May feel more consistent to an individual player, but no reviewed source reports a measured reduction in Boom latency. |
There is no evidence here for declaring one input method universally faster. Select the method that lets you perform the same action reliably and comfortably.
Use a simple troubleshooting decision path
If the character does not move when you expect
- Open the controls menu and verify that movement is bound to the input you are using.
- Check for a conflicting manual binding.
- Test the same movement with auto-fire unchanged; auto-fire concerns firing behavior, not a proven movement-latency fix.
- Repeat the route with another supported input method if available.
If firing or aiming feels wrong but movement is immediate
- Test auto-fire on and off separately.
- Inspect the fire and aim bindings.
- Check whether the issue is a missed touch or an action that occurs automatically, rather than delayed movement.
If a controller feels no better
- Verify that Boom recognizes it, not only that the phone is paired.
- Review the game’s controller bindings.
- Compare the same test route with touch input.
- Keep the method that gives you better control; the sources do not support promising a latency reduction from the accessory.
If the game still feels slow after input checks
The reviewed official sources do not provide a controlled diagnosis for device-specific lag, a recommended frame-rate setting or a verified phone/controller combination. At that point, document your phone model, operating system, Boom version, input method, exact symptom and whether the delay affects movement, camera or firing. That information is more useful for a reproducible support report than a general claim that “the game is laggy.”

Do not import fixes for the original Boltgun
Search results for the PC and console Boltgun may discuss configuration-file edits, console commands, synchronization changes, frame-rate changes or other platform-specific settings. Those instructions concern a different release. Applying them to Boom can waste time, produce no effect or lead you to misdiagnose a touch-control problem as a graphics problem.
For the mobile game, use the controls shown in your installed version. The evidence currently supports checking auto-fire, trying the reported controller option and reviewing manual bindings where those controls are actually present. It does not support claiming that a particular graphics setting, synchronization switch, frame rate, device tweak or controller model is a proven Boom input-lag cure.
A practical order of operations
- Confirm the title: make sure you are troubleshooting mobile Boltgun Boom, not the earlier Boltgun.
- Record the symptom: identify whether the issue is delayed movement, missed touch, awkward layout, automatic firing or visual stutter.
- Check the current menu: note your installed version and verify which control options are present.
- Test auto-fire: compare on and off if the switch exists.
- Review bindings: remove conflicts and test one manual change at a time.
- Compare input methods: test touch against a compatible controller only if the phone and game both support it.
- Keep the evidence straight: describe a personal improvement as perceived responsiveness, not as a measured latency reduction.
This sequence gives you a defensible answer about what changed on your setup without turning an individual feel test into a universal performance claim. Boom’s official descriptions establish fast movement and mobile-focused controls, while the available player report supplies practical options to verify; neither provides a published latency benchmark or exact settings that guarantee a fix.
