If Guns of Eschaton is running at low FPS or stuttering, first check whether graphics auto-detection set the game to Epic. A notice on the game’s Steam Community page says this is happening to many players, including those on lower-end hardware, and is causing performance problems. Lower the preset and compare performance in the same scene; the notice does not specify a best preset or guarantee a particular improvement. Also confirm whether you are playing the standalone demo or the main game, since they have separate Steam listings.
First, check which version you are playing
The standalone demo has its own Steam listing, which gives its release date as October 5, 2026: Guns of Eschaton Demo on Steam. The main game’s official Steam listing currently says it is not yet available: Guns of Eschaton on Steam. Check the title shown in your Steam library before reporting a performance problem, so it is clear whether the issue is in the demo or the full game.

Lower the graphics preset if auto-detection chose Epic
The game’s Steam Community notice says: “We’re aware that graphics auto-detection isn’t working correctly right now. It sets many players to Epic settings even on lower-end hardware, which causes low FPS and performance issues.” The notice does not give a patch number, date for a fix, recommended preset, or setting-by-setting guidance. - Open the game’s graphics settings and check the selected overall preset.
- If it is set to Epic, choose a lower preset. The notice does not identify which one to use, so treat this as a test rather than a guaranteed solution.
- Compare FPS and stuttering in the same area or encounter before and after the change. Keep the scene and resolution consistent, and note the preset you tested.
This comparison is a practical way to check whether lowering the preset helps on your PC; it is not a developer-published benchmark.

If the game is installed on a hard drive, the listing’s SSD requirement is a reason to check its installation drive. It does not establish that buying a faster SSD will increase FPS or resolve stuttering. Likewise, being below a listed CPU or GPU tier does not by itself identify the cause of your specific problem.

If performance is still poor, gather details before reporting it
If lowering the preset does not help, provide enough information for others to distinguish a settings issue from a hardware or version-specific problem. Use the game’s official community channels, and include:

- What you observe, such as consistently low FPS or stutters in a particular area.
- Whether you compared performance in the same scene before and after lowering the preset.
The cited official notice does not recommend driver changes, configuration-file edits, launch options, or overlays, so those should not be presented as verified fixes for this game.
