The most effective way to stretch the realme P4 5G’s battery is to find which apps drain it, restrict background activity for the ones that don’t need it, and turn on sleep standby optimization if the phone loses charge overnight. This guide uses the realme UI 6.0 (Android 15) paths for the India-market P4 5G. Labels can shift after updates. If one doesn’t match, search Settings for “battery”.
What to expect from the P4’s battery
realme India’s specifications list the P4 5G’s battery at 7000 mAh typical and 6830 mAh minimum, running realme UI 6.0 on Android 15. That is a large cell. realme also says actual battery life depends on usage conditions, so no setting can promise a fixed number of hours. The product page includes realme Lab endurance claims, but those are manufacturer figures for specific scenarios. No independent battery test of the P4 was found, so don’t treat them as what you will get.

Step 1: Find what is draining the battery
Start with evidence from your own phone rather than changing settings at random.

- Use the phone normally until you notice a clear drop in charge.
- Open Settings > Battery > Battery usage by app.
- Look at which apps consumed the most, and check their foreground and background activity.
An app you used heavily on screen is expected to rank high. An app you barely opened that shows large background use is the one to deal with in the next step.

Step 2: Restrict background activity for specific apps
Go to Settings > Battery > Power saving settings > App battery management and pick the app. realme UI 6.0 offers these options:
- Allow background activity: the app runs freely. Keep this for messaging, email, banking alerts, calendars and anything where timely notifications matter.
- Smart mode: the system decides how much background activity to allow.
- Restrict background activity: the strongest limit. Use it for apps you open occasionally, such as shopping, games or rarely used social apps.
Restrictions can change how an app behaves, for example by delaying syncs or notifications. Change one or two apps at a time and see whether anything you rely on stops working.

Step 3: Cut idle drain overnight
If the battery falls noticeably while the phone sits untouched, turn on sleep standby optimization at Settings > Battery > Power saver options > Turn on sleep standby optimization.

Charging habits and battery health
Runtime on one charge and battery health over the years are different things. realme describes Wise charging and optimized night charging as ways to manage charging and help slow battery aging. They are aimed at long-term capacity, not at making today’s charge last longer, so enable them for the long run but don’t expect a same-day improvement.
The P4 5G supports up to 80 W charging, according to realme India’s product page. Reaching that maximum requires realme’s 80 W charger and the original cable. This affects charging speed only, not how long a charge lasts.
What won’t help
A power bank adds energy when you are away from an outlet, but it doesn’t make the P4 more efficient. No evidence supports accessories like battery cases or replacement batteries as a fix for drain on this model, so address the software settings first.
