The most reliable way to make an MSI Claw last longer is to reduce power use in stages: select a lower-power scenario in MSI Center M, use an efficiency-oriented Windows power mode when available, lower brightness, and then reduce the workload of each game. Update the Claw through MSI Center M before troubleshooting further. If charge disappears while the device is asleep, investigate standby and hibernation separately; if maximum capacity has fallen, calibration can improve measurement but cannot restore worn-out cells.
There is no single setting that produces a published, guaranteed number of extra hours. The best configuration depends on the Claw model, MSI Center M version, game, frame-rate target, display settings and whether the device is actively playing or sitting idle.

1. Select a lower-power system configuration
Choose a scenario in MSI Center M
Open MSI Center M with the MSI button or from Windows, then open the scenario or performance profile controls. MSI’s Claw walkthrough describes choices that include Super Battery for extended use. Your model or software version may display newer names or a different set of profiles.
- Open MSI Center M.
- Open the scenario, user-scenario or performance-profile control.
- Select the lowest-power or battery-focused profile that still delivers an acceptable frame rate.
- Launch the game and check whether performance remains comfortable before making further changes.
A lower-power profile limits available power rather than creating energy from nowhere. A demanding title may run at a lower frame rate or reduce its boost performance. Switch back to a higher-performance scenario when you are plugged in or when a game needs it.
Use Windows efficiency settings when available
Open Windows Settings and inspect the system’s power or battery controls. Select an efficiency-oriented mode if your Claw exposes one. Microsoft and MSI can change the exact wording between Windows builds, so use the option that explicitly favors efficiency rather than maximum performance. Do not assume that a Windows mode overrides every MSI Center M setting; check the resulting behavior in the game.

Dim the display and remove unused connections
Set brightness to the lowest level that remains comfortable. MSI’s general battery guidance recommends disabling wireless radios and disconnecting peripherals when they are not needed; on a handheld, apply that advice only when the relevant Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connection or accessory is genuinely unused. Turning off a connection you still need can cause reconnects or interrupt a game.

These changes reduce system demand without requiring you to alter a game’s graphics. They are sensible first steps, but MSI’s published guidance does not quantify how many minutes or hours any one setting adds.
2. Tune the game instead of relying on one universal profile
Different games load the Claw’s GPU differently. A simple 2D title, an older game and a modern 3D game can draw very different amounts of power even when the same system scenario is selected. MSI’s Claw-series settings FAQ therefore recommends per-game display settings rather than one configuration for every title.
Change the frame-rate target first
If the game offers a frame-rate limit, lower it to the smoothness you actually need. A title that is rendering far more frames than the display or your play style requires is doing unnecessary GPU work. Competitive games may justify a higher target; a turn-based or story game may remain comfortable at a lower one.
Reduce resolution or upscaling demand
Lower the game’s render resolution or choose its balanced performance/upscaling option if available. This can reduce the number of pixels the GPU must process. The cost is a softer image or more visible scaling artifacts, so compare the result at the normal viewing distance.

Reduce expensive effects
Lower shadows, reflections, volumetric effects, ambient occlusion, view distance and other GPU-heavy options before cutting every setting to its minimum. Keep texture quality higher if the game has enough memory and textures are important to you; the best compromise differs by title.
Test one change at a time
- Record the current scenario, brightness, frame-rate target and graphics preset.
- Change one game setting, such as the frame-rate cap.
- Play the same type of scene for long enough to judge smoothness and heat.
- Keep the change only if the visual or performance cost is acceptable.
- Repeat with resolution or individual effects until the workload is reasonable.

MSI also documents high-performance configurations for maximizing game performance. Those recommendations are not battery-saving settings; use them when plugged in or when endurance is less important.
3. Install current BIOS and driver updates
Outdated firmware or drivers can leave you troubleshooting behavior that a current release already addresses. MSI’s Claw optimization guidance recommends using current BIOS and drivers for the exact device. Updates may alter power behavior, but MSI does not state that a particular version adds a measured amount of battery life.
- Open MSI Center M.
- Go to News and Updates.
- Select Scan.
- Review the offered BIOS, firmware and driver packages for your exact Claw model.
- Install them according to MSI’s prompts, keeping the device connected to reliable external power during firmware work.
- Restart if requested, then recheck your scenario and game settings.
Do not substitute an update for a different Claw model just because its version number looks newer. Model-specific firmware is the relevant comparison.

4. Work out why the battery drains quickly during play
“Fast drain” can mean a high-power game, a bright display, an aggressive performance scenario, an unneeded wireless connection or a battery whose usable capacity has declined. Use this sequence to separate those causes without changing everything at once.
- Check the selected MSI Center M scenario and switch to the lower-power profile for a controlled comparison.
- Set a comfortable but lower brightness.
- Apply a frame-rate limit and reduce one demanding game setting.
- Repeat the comparison in the same game and a similar scene; different titles cannot be compared as if they had the same workload.
- Install available model-specific updates from MSI Center M.
- If the percentage still falls unusually quickly in light use, or the Claw shuts down unexpectedly, treat the issue as a battery-health or hardware-support problem rather than continually lowering graphics.
None of these steps establishes a universal runtime figure. Battery percentage also reflects the current load and the battery’s remaining capacity, so a setting that helps one game may have little visible effect in another.

If the Claw loses a noticeable amount of charge while it appears to be asleep, investigate standby separately from gaming runtime. MSI’s sleep-mode battery-drain FAQ explains that Windows Modern Standby can continue using power to preserve connectivity and discusses Hibernate for longer idle periods. That article is written for notebooks with 11th-generation Intel CPUs or later; the cited material does not confirm the exact standby implementation of every Claw model.

Use hibernation for longer breaks where supported
- Open Windows power and sleep settings and review what the power button or sleep action does.
- Check whether Hibernate is available in your Claw’s power menu. If it is hidden, Windows’ advanced power controls may offer an option to enable it.
- Use Sleep for short pauses when quick resume matters.
- Use Hibernate or shut down for a long break, travel or overnight storage when charge retention is more important than instant resume.
Standby behavior, available power states and menu labels vary by Windows configuration and hardware. If Hibernate is not offered, do not assume that a third-party utility or an unverified registry change is appropriate; use the power controls supported by your model.

6. Separate battery runtime from battery health
Power-saving settings reduce current consumption. They cannot rebuild capacity lost through normal chemical aging or a deteriorated cell. MSI’s battery-health guidance distinguishes calibration from restoring a worn battery, and its short-runtime troubleshooting page explains that a declining maximum capacity may require support rather than another performance profile.
When calibration is useful
Calibration can help the system estimate the remaining charge more accurately when the percentage reading or reported maximum capacity appears inconsistent. MSI’s Claw guide recommends calibration every three months for devices that offer the feature. Treat that as vendor guidance, not a promise of longer physical runtime.
- Open MSI Center M and look for the battery-calibration function supported by your model.
- Read the on-screen instructions and connect the supplied or model-compatible charger as directed.
- Allow the complete charge and discharge sequence to finish without interrupting it.
- Afterward, compare the reported capacity and percentage behavior rather than expecting a new capacity figure.
Do not repeatedly calibrate as a way to repair deterioration. If the maximum capacity remains substantially below its original level, the device drains abnormally while idle, charging stops unexpectedly or the battery swells, stop experimenting and follow MSI support guidance.

- Use the exact model’s support page for service instructions; battery replacement is not a routine consequence of ordinary game-session drain.
7. Charge safely when you are away from an outlet
A model-compatible USB-C charger or power bank can be useful for travel, but compatibility depends on the specific Claw version and the accessory’s output specifications. Check the exact model documentation before buying. Do not choose solely by a headline wattage or assume that an accessory that charges another handheld will charge yours at its intended rate.
MSI’s Claw walkthrough states: “It has a fast charging function that can power up 50% of your battery in a snap. Just plug it in for 30 minutes and you’re good to go.” The cited passage does not provide test conditions, identify every model covered, or establish compatibility with third-party power banks. Treat the 50%-in-30-minutes figure as MSI’s product statement, not an independently verified result for every Claw.
Check before purchasing an external charger
- Confirm the exact Claw model and its required charging input in its specifications.
- Compare the charger’s or power bank’s supported output with that requirement.
- Use a cable and charger rated for the stated output.
- Expect charging speed to vary while playing, because the device is using power at the same time.

A practical maintenance routine
When you install a new game, begin with the lower-power scenario and a comfortable brightness. Set a sensible frame-rate target, then adjust resolution or effects only if the result is still too demanding. Keep MSI Center M’s News and Updates scan current for your model. Every few months, check whether your model offers MSI’s calibration routine; use it for measurement rather than capacity repair. Before a long period of storage or travel, choose Hibernate or shut down if your model supports the option and charge with a verified, compatible accessory.
The useful goal is not the lowest possible power number. It is the lowest workload that preserves the frame rate, image quality and resume behavior you actually need. Because MSI publishes no controlled battery-life increase for any one of these settings, judge the result by your own game, display brightness and idle pattern rather than by a promised number of extra hours.
