Start by checking the Venu X1’s Battery Manager glance to see which features are using power, then change only the settings that matter to your use. Garmin estimates up to 8 days in smartwatch mode with its default display configuration, but up to 2 days with Always On enabled; activity recording time also varies with satellite mode and music.
Check what is draining the battery
Battery Manager is the best place to begin if you want to improve battery life or explain a sudden change. Add or open the Battery Manager glance from the watch’s glance list. It can show battery percentage, estimated remaining time, drain rate, recent charge and drain history, and a list of contributing features. Where a setting is available, selecting a feature can take you to its related settings. Interface wording may vary with software, so consult the current on-watch menu or Venu X1 manual and software information if the labels differ.

What battery life Garmin estimates for the Venu X1
Garmin’s figures are reference estimates, not a promise of how long an individual watch will last. The actual result can be lower when use exceeds Garmin’s assumptions.

| Use | Garmin estimate | Conditions and trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Smartwatch mode, default display configuration | Up to 8 days | Estimate assumes Pulse Ox is disabled, no music streaming and no timed activities, among other specified usage assumptions. |
| Smartwatch mode, Always On display | Up to 2 days | Garmin’s estimate for the Always On configuration. |
| GPS-only activity, no music | Up to 16 hours | Activity estimate under Garmin’s stated interaction and alert conditions. |
| All Systems activity, no music | Up to 14 hours | Activity estimate under Garmin’s stated interaction and alert conditions. |
| Activity with music | Up to 7 hours | Garmin lists this estimate for either of the satellite modes above. |
Garmin’s Venu X1 battery-life assumptions page says the default-display estimate includes 50 notifications, 32 interactions, 10 device-generated alerts, 750 gestures per day and one hour per day outside phone Bluetooth range. The activity estimates assume a temperature range of 10–40°C and specified interaction and alert conditions. Flashlight and strobe use are not included and have a significant impact. Garmin does not provide a guaranteed runtime for every combination of settings and activity.
Adjust display settings if they are a major contributor
Turn off Always On when you do not need it
The largest clear difference in Garmin’s smartwatch-mode estimates is between the default display configuration (up to 8 days) and Always On (up to 2 days). If Battery Manager points to display use, disable Always On when persistent visibility is not worth the shorter estimate.

Reduce brightness and avoid unnecessary wake-ups
Lower brightness if the screen is brighter than you need, and avoid waking it just to check information that can wait. Garmin does not quantify how many additional hours or days either change will provide, so use Battery Manager’s estimates and subsequent drain history to judge the effect on your watch.
Choose activity settings for the outing
Leave music off when you do not need it
Garmin estimates up to 16 hours for GPS-only and up to 14 hours for All Systems without music, compared with up to 7 hours with music in either listed satellite mode. If you can listen from another device or do not need audio, do not stream music from the watch during the activity.

- Pulse Ox: Garmin’s Venu X1 default battery-life assumption has Pulse Ox disabled. Check its setting if you enabled it; do not assume it is on by default.
- Connect IQ apps and watch faces: A downloaded app or watch face may contribute to drain. Try a simpler built-in face or remove apps you do not use, then check the drain history.
- Vibration and wireless connections: Reduce vibration or limit connections only if doing so does not interfere with alerts or functions you need.
- Flashlight: Use it when needed, but Garmin notes that flashlight and strobe use can significantly affect battery life and are not included in its listed estimates.
Garmin’s broader guidance on why a wearable battery may drain faster than expected covers these kinds of contributors. The impact varies with the features and settings in use.
