Reduce screen use where it suits you
Lower brightness and shorten the screen timeout if the display is a major part of your use. Samsung identifies high brightness and a long screen timeout as factors that can substantially reduce battery life. You can also turn off Always On Display if you do not find it useful. Keep your preferred resolution unless you need more runtime; changing every display setting at once makes it harder to tell which change helped.

Test 60 Hz if you can trade smoothness for runtime
The S25 Ultra has a 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive refresh up to 120 Hz, according to Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series specification sheet. A lower refresh rate can reduce display demand, but scrolling may look less smooth. To judge the effect on your own routine, try Standard or 60 Hz for a day and compare with your usual setting.
In Tom’s Guide’s continuous 5G web-browsing test at 150 nits, the S25 Ultra lasted 17 hours 14 minutes in the reported standard/adaptive mode and 18 hours 35 minutes at 60 Hz. That is a 1 hour 21 minute difference under Tom’s Guide’s test conditions, not a prediction of your screen-on time or a guarantee of the same improvement in everyday use.

Limit background activity selectively
For apps that do not need immediate updates, use Samsung’s sleeping or deep sleeping app categories. Samsung explains that sleeping apps use less power because they are prevented from operating in the background; deep sleeping is a stronger limit. Avoid putting messaging, navigation, health, security or other time-sensitive apps in deep sleep if delayed sync, alerts or updates would cause problems. Use Power saving when the restrictions are worth it
Samsung describes enabling Power saving from the Quick panel as the easiest way to save power. The mode can change settings that affect consumption, and the available controls let you decide which restrictions you can accept. Turn it on for a long day away from a charger or another situation where runtime matters more than those features; there is no need to disable every high-power feature all the time.

Set Battery protection for long-term ownership
Battery protection is about lifespan, not squeezing more runtime from the current charge. Samsung warns: “Charging your battery to 100% for a long period can reduce its lifespan.” Its UK guidance describes Basic and Maximum protection and also mentions Adaptive protection. A lower charge ceiling can leave less capacity available for a particular day, so choose according to whether long-term battery health or maximum daily charge matters more to you. Why is my Galaxy S25 Ultra battery draining so fast?
A new phone’s usage can change as apps and habits settle, but Samsung’s general guidance does not establish a fixed settling period for the S25 Ultra.
