To make an HP OmniBook Ultra last longer on a charge, lower screen brightness, choose a power-saving option, reduce demanding or unnecessary activity, and disconnect devices you are not using. The exact OmniBook Ultra configuration matters: battery capacity, Windows settings, workload, temperature, and battery age all affect runtime, so no single setting guarantees a fixed number of extra hours.
Make these changes first
- Lower screen brightness. Open Windows Quick Settings from the taskbar and move the brightness slider down to the lowest comfortable level. If your device does not show a slider there, look in Settings for Display brightness controls; labels can vary by Windows version and configuration.
- Choose a power-saving option. In Windows, open Settings and look under System > Power & battery for the power mode or energy-saver controls available on your build. HP recommends HP Recommended or Power saver. The exact labels and options may differ by device and Windows version.
- Close unused and demanding applications. Save your work, then exit apps you do not need. Games, graphics-heavy work, and other intensive tasks can use more power than lighter activities. If runtime has changed, check which apps and workloads are active rather than assuming one particular app is at fault.
- Unplug idle peripherals. Disconnect devices such as external drives when you are not using them. Turn off Wi-Fi or Bluetooth only if you can work without those connections; doing so is not useful if you still need network access or a wireless device.
These are practical ways to reduce power use, not guaranteed runtime multipliers. HP says battery performance is also affected by workload, environment, temperature, wireless use, system configuration, and power-management settings. Check which OmniBook Ultra you have
“HP OmniBook Ultra” covers more than one series and configuration. HP’s product specifications list 68Wh for the 14-fd0000 series and 70Wh for the 14-kd0000 and 14-kg0000 series. These are family-level listed design capacities, not a promise for every SKU or region; HP notes that actual battery Wh can vary and a new battery’s full charge capacity may differ from its design capacity. Capacity figures alone do not predict how many hours your laptop will run.

Find the exact product number or series on the laptop’s label, in Windows device information, or in HP Support Assistant, then use that information when checking HP OmniBook Ultra product specifications and support options. Different processors, displays, configurations, and battery condition can affect how long a charge lasts.

Separate runtime from long-term battery health
Settings that reduce power use during a session can help you get more time from the current charge. Battery health is a separate concern: batteries naturally lose capacity over time, and HP says use and environmental conditions can affect that decline.
Adaptive Battery Optimizer
HP recommends leaving Adaptive Battery Optimizer enabled where the feature is supported to help maximize battery lifespan. Its protective measures may slightly reduce runtime while active. HP’s guidance does not establish that the feature is available on every OmniBook Ultra SKU, so check your exact model’s BIOS or diagnostics rather than expecting to find it on all units. Investigate a sudden or severe drop in runtime
If battery life has worsened sharply rather than gradually, first review recent changes in workload and connected devices. Then use HP Support Assistant or the PC diagnostics available for your exact model to check battery condition. HP provides model-specific support and diagnostic resources; follow the instructions for your device rather than relying on a procedure intended for a different OmniBook series.
If diagnostics indicate battery wear or a fault, check HP’s support options for the exact product number. Do not open the laptop or order an internal replacement based only on the OmniBook Ultra name: the correct part and service procedure depend on the model.

When a USB-C power bank makes sense
A compatible USB-C Power Delivery power bank can provide an additional energy source when you are away from an outlet; it does not make the laptop use less power or improve the internal battery’s efficiency. HP specifications list USB Power Delivery on the cited OmniBook Ultra ports and a 65W USB-C adapter. Before choosing a power bank, confirm its USB-C PD output and compatibility with your exact model.
