The fastest way to improve a Galaxy FE phone’s battery life is to find the biggest drain first. Open Settings > Battery (or Settings > Battery and device care > Battery on some versions), inspect usage by app and feature, and change the setting connected to the largest avoidable load. Then use Power saving mode when you need extra hours, restrict background activity for nonessential apps, reduce unnecessary screen and radio use, and keep software current.
“Galaxy FE” covers several models, markets and One UI versions. Menu names and available controls therefore differ. Use the exact model’s manual and your local Samsung support page when a path does not match your screen. The steps below separate immediate runtime gains from practices intended to preserve battery capacity over the long term.

Start with Battery usage instead of guessing
Battery drain is personal: a navigation session, a weak mobile signal, a game, a bright display or one misbehaving app can be the largest consumer on one phone and irrelevant on another. Samsung’s battery-optimization guidance puts diagnosis first.

On some Galaxy generations, go to Settings > Battery and device care (or Device care) and select Battery.
- Review the usage graph and the list of apps or features. Expand the view if your software offers a time range or “since last charge” detail.
- Look for an app with unusually high background use, a feature that ran while you were not using the phone, or a period of heavy screen-on time.
- Change one major cause at a time, use the phone normally, and check the same screen again. This makes it possible to tell whether a change helped.
Do not conclude that the battery itself has failed from one high-use day. New-phone setup, restoring a backup, indexing photos, a system update, poor signal conditions and unusually long screen use can all change the graph. If the pattern remains abnormal after ordinary use and current updates, move to the support steps near the end of this guide.

Use Power saving mode when runtime matters today
Power saving mode is Samsung’s built-in emergency and everyday runtime option. It generally reduces background activity and may limit features such as Always On Display. Depending on the model and the options selected, it can also affect background data, location services, display behavior or performance. It is a trade-off, not a guaranteed runtime multiplier.
Turn it on
- Open Settings > Battery or Settings > Battery and device care > Battery.
- Tap Power saving (the label may be Power saving mode).
- Review the switches or limits shown on your phone, then enable the mode. Some versions let you choose which restrictions to apply.
- Turn it off from the same screen when you need normal background behavior or performance.

Check time-sensitive apps after enabling the mode. If a navigation, work, security or messaging app must remain connected, adjust the Power saving options or leave that app unrestricted where your software allows it.
Stop unnecessary background work without breaking notifications
Samsung lets you place apps into sleeping categories. This is useful for shopping, games, social networks or other apps that do not need to run between uses, but it can delay updates.
Sleeping apps
Sleeping apps have their background activity reduced. Depending on the app and One UI version, notifications or content refreshes may be delayed.

- Open Settings > Battery or Battery and device care > Battery.
- Tap Background usage limits (sometimes shown as Background usage).
- Select Sleeping apps, add an app, and confirm.
Deep sleeping apps
Deep sleeping is more restrictive. A deep-sleeping app normally runs only after you open it, so background notifications and automatic updates can stop entirely. Do not use this category for calls, two-factor authentication, health or safety alerts, navigation, work messaging, alarms or any other time-sensitive function.
- From Background usage limits, choose Deep sleeping apps.
- Add only apps that can safely remain inactive.
- If an expected alert is late or missing, remove the app from the list and test again.
Keep essential apps available
Messaging, emergency, authentication, wearable, smart-home and transport apps often need background access. If your FE phone offers an Never sleeping apps list, use it selectively rather than exempting everything. Broad exemptions cancel much of the battery benefit.
Reduce display drain with settings you can live with
The display is often a major consumer when the screen stays on for long periods. Lowering brightness and shortening the timeout helps when it does not make the phone difficult to read.

- Pull down Quick settings and move the brightness slider to the lowest comfortable level.
- In Settings > Display, enable Adaptive brightness if you want the phone to adjust to ambient light. The exact label can differ.
- Avoid leaving brightness at maximum indoors. In direct sunlight, higher brightness may be necessary for safe, practical use.
Screen timeout and display features
- Open Settings > Display > Screen timeout.
- Choose a shorter period that still lets you read without repeatedly waking the phone.
- Review Always On Display, edge lighting, motion wake and similar options. Disable features you do not use, or schedule them if your model provides scheduling.
Dark mode can reduce power on phones with AMOLED displays, particularly when much of the interface is black, but the benefit depends on the app, brightness and what is on screen. Treat it as an optional comfort and power adjustment, not a promised percentage saving.

Manage Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, location and mobile connections intelligently
Connectivity consumes power when radios are active, scanning or maintaining a weak connection. There is no universal rule that Wi-Fi or mobile data should always be disabled: a strong Wi-Fi connection can be preferable to a difficult cellular connection, while turning Wi-Fi off in a familiar Wi-Fi area can force mobile data use. Change only radios you are not using.
Quick checks
- Turn off Bluetooth when you are not using headphones, a watch, a car system or another accessory.
- Turn off Location only when no app or service needs it. Navigation, emergency features, weather automation and location sharing can stop working or become less accurate.
- Disable mobile hotspot immediately after use; it keeps a radio and often several connected devices active.
- Use Wi-Fi where it is reliable and available. Do not disable it automatically if you depend on Wi-Fi calling or a stable indoor connection.
- In areas with very weak cellular coverage, expect higher drain while the phone searches for service. Airplane mode can save power only when you genuinely do not need calls, messages or data; re-enable the required connection afterward.
On models with 5G controls, selecting a lower network mode may reduce radio work in some conditions, but the available choices and effect vary by carrier, region and signal. Follow the options shown under Settings > Connections > Mobile networks rather than applying a model-specific instruction to every FE phone.
Keep the operating system and apps current
Samsung and app developers distribute fixes that can address excessive background activity, crashes and compatibility problems. Open Settings > Software update > Download and install and install updates offered for your exact model and region. Update apps through the Galaxy Store and Google Play using their respective update screens.

Drain can vary during this period; Samsung does not publish one settling time that applies to every Galaxy FE model. If one app remains at the top without a clear reason, update it, remove its unnecessary permissions or reinstall it. Back up important data before uninstalling an app that stores local information.

Choose a lighter performance profile when your model offers one
Some Samsung phones include Light performance mode under battery or device-care settings. Samsung’s Canadian support material describes it as an option that prioritizes battery efficiency and thermal behavior by adjusting processing performance. Availability, wording and the effect on a particular FE model are not universal.
- Open Settings > Battery and device care (or Device care).
- Look for Performance profile, Light performance mode or a similarly named control.
- Read the on-screen explanation and enable it only if the resulting performance is sufficient for your games and demanding apps.
Do not use a lower profile as a substitute for diagnosing a runaway app. It may reduce peak performance while leaving the underlying background drain untouched.

A setting that gives you more hours today is not necessarily a battery-health practice. Samsung says prolonged charging at 100% can reduce battery lifespan and provides Battery protection controls on supported devices.

Find the controls on your exact FE model
- Open Settings > Battery or Settings > Battery and device care > Battery.
- Tap Battery protection. The feature may be under a charging or battery-more-settings submenu on some software versions.
- Read the modes shown on your phone. One version may offer adaptive behavior, a maximum-charge limit or an option that pauses charging overnight; another may show fewer choices.
- Select the mode that fits your routine and the instructions displayed for your model. Do not assume one percentage is a universal prescription.
Battery protection can reduce time spent fully charged, but it will not repair a battery that is already worn or make a high-drain app efficient. Keep the phone and charger within the temperature and compatibility guidance supplied for the exact model.

Use a power bank for capacity, not efficiency
A USB-C power bank is useful when you will be away from an outlet. It adds external charging capacity; it does not improve the phone’s efficiency or restore battery health. Verify USB-C charging compatibility, supported input power and cable requirements for your specific Galaxy FE model. A power bank is a practical backup after you have addressed settings, not a fix for abnormal drain.
Troubleshoot persistent or unusual drain
When one app dominates Battery usage
- Install its current update.
- Check whether it is allowed to run in the background or use location continuously.
- Move it to Sleeping apps if delayed notifications are acceptable.
- Use Deep sleeping only when the app can safely run only after opening.
- Clear the app’s cache or reinstall it if the problem continues, after protecting any local data.
When the phone is warm or drains while idle
- Check Battery usage for a process, app or feature active during the idle period.
- Review hotspot, location, Bluetooth, wearable connections and weak-signal conditions.
- Restart the phone and install pending system and app updates.
- Remove recently installed apps one at a time if the timing points to a new installation.
When drain remains abnormal
Record the model name, One UI version, update date, approximate idle period and the top Battery-usage entries. Contact Samsung through the Samsung Members app or your local Samsung support channel for device-specific diagnosis. An authorized service center can assess the battery and charging hardware when appropriate. Eligibility, pricing and service availability vary by location, so confirm those details locally. Symptoms alone cannot establish that the battery has failed.
A practical order for your next charge cycle
- Inspect Battery usage and note the largest avoidable consumer.
- Restrict that app’s background activity, choosing Sleeping rather than Deep sleeping when notifications matter.
- Set comfortable brightness and a shorter screen timeout; review Always On Display and similar features.
- Disable unused Bluetooth, location, hotspot and other connections without interrupting services you need.
- Enable Power saving mode when you need additional runtime immediately.
- Install current system and app updates, then recheck the Battery screen after normal use.
- Configure Battery protection for long-term care using the options your exact model provides.
- Escalate persistent unusual behavior through Samsung Members or local Samsung support.
What varies across Galaxy FE phones
There is no single “Galaxy FE battery” menu. The Galaxy S23 FE manual, for example, is a model-specific resource rather than authority for every FE generation. Region, carrier firmware and One UI version can change whether a control is present, where it appears and which restrictions Power saving applies. Treat the paths in this guide as starting points, then follow the labels on your phone and the current local Samsung instructions.
