What Riot means by Radiance’s rare treatments
Ultimate Rare
Ultimate Rare is the top rarity tier explicitly singled out in Riot’s Radiance overview. Radiance includes Overnumbered variants for its nine new Legends. Riot also says those variants can be found with an artist signature. An unsigned Overnumber and a signed Overnumber are therefore related treatments, but they are not interchangeable descriptions: the signature is an additional identifying feature on the signed version.

The official overview does not publish a serial-number format, signature placement, or a complete visual checklist in the supplied information. Use the current gallery image and card entry to establish exactly which Legend, treatment, and signature variant you have. Do not infer that every signed card is an Ultimate Rare; Riot lists signed Overnumbers and Ultimate Rare as separate concepts.
Special cards and Special Alt Art cards
Special cards are another named treatment in the Radiance overview. Riot says Special Alt Art Cards appear at roughly the same frequency as Alt Art cards. That frequency comparison does not make Special Alt Art and Special cards identical, and it does not provide an exact percentage for either one. Keep the labels exactly as the gallery presents them.
How to identify a Radiance card step by step
- Confirm that the card belongs to Radiance. Check the set name, set symbol or numbering, language, and the current official card-gallery entry. Radiance is set 5 and contains 167 cards, including 61 Showcase cards, according to Riot’s set announcement. A card from another Riftbound set can share an art style or character and still be unrelated to the Radiance chase list.
- Read the treatment name, not just the surface finish. The relevant categories named by Riot are Alt Art, Special Alt Art, Special, Overnumber, signed Overnumber, and Ultimate Rare. Foil, texture, color, or an unusual border can help you notice a variant, but the official treatment designation is the deciding evidence.
- Check whether the card is one of the nine new Legends. Those Legends are the cards for which Riot specifically confirms Overnumbered variants. If a card is not one of those Legends, do not assume that a similarly styled card is an Overnumber simply because it has premium artwork.
- Separate an Overnumber from a signed Overnumber. Look for the artist signature shown in the official listing. Record the underlying card and the signature variant separately in your collection notes; a signature should not be silently treated as a different card name.
- Use the gallery for the Ultimate Rare’s identity. Riot’s rarity statement confirms the tier but the supplied overview excerpt does not state the card’s name. Wait for the current official image and entry before writing a label, trading, or cataloging a specific name.
- Verify the language edition. Radiance is planned in English, French, and Chinese. The same character and treatment can appear in multiple language editions, so include the language when recording a card or comparing an image.
This process is deliberately conservative. It prevents a common identification error: treating every premium-looking card as the same chase treatment. Radiance has several overlapping visual categories, and only the official gallery can settle a card’s exact designation when the printed appearance is ambiguous.
Does Radiance have K/DA cards?
Yes. Riot identifies K/DA as the set’s confirmed music crossover through Special cards. In the Collectibility section of the overview, published September 25, 2026, Riot writes: "We couldn’t have a music themed set without featuring the K/DA girls." The statement confirms the crossover and the Special-card treatment; it does not say that K/DA cards are Overnumbers or Ultimate Rares.

When cataloging a K/DA card, retain the word Special as the treatment and then verify whether the specific gallery entry gives a more detailed designation. Do not replace it with Special Alt Art unless Riot’s card entry does so. The overview’s statement that Special Alt Art Cards occur at roughly the same frequency as Alt Art cards is a general frequency comparison, not a K/DA-specific pull rate.
Are Heartsteel cards in Radiance?
Yes. Riot identifies Heartsteel Overnumbers in the same Radiance overview. This is a different confirmed crossover treatment from the K/DA Special cards: Heartsteel is attached to the Overnumber category, while K/DA is attached to Special cards.
That distinction matters when searching a gallery, sorting a binder, or evaluating a trade. A Heartsteel card should not be advertised as a K/DA Special, and a K/DA Special should not be described as a Heartsteel Overnumber. The supplied official material confirms those two acts only; it does not establish additional Riot music groups as Radiance crossovers.

The Riot Games Store uses a simplified product description for the physical pack: 14 cards consisting of seven Commons, three Uncommons, two foil Rares or better, one foil of any rarity, and one token slot. The detailed set overview is the better reference for interpreting the premium variable slot, while the store copy explains the advertised 14-card format. Those descriptions should not be mixed into an invented guarantee about a particular treatment.
What does 0.025% mean?
Riot reports an average Ultimate Rare appearance rate of approximately 0.025% of Radiance booster packs across the entire print run. Converting the percentage to a simple ratio gives roughly one Ultimate Rare-containing pack per 4,000 packs on average. That is an arithmetic interpretation of the published average, not a promised collation ratio for every production batch.
Riot expressly warns that pack contents are randomized and that the averages are not guarantees for an individual pack, display, or case. One display can contain no Ultimate Rare, and another can contain one or more, without either result disproving the print-run average. The overview also says a pack can contain at most one Ultimate Rare. It does not publish a guaranteed box rate, case rate, or a probability distribution that would let a collector calculate a dependable display-level chance.

A sealed display is useful when you want the opening experience, sealed product, or a chance at several different treatments. It is not a precision search method. The premium slot can resolve to several categories, and the Ultimate Rare average applies across all booster packs in the print run rather than to a named card in a specific display. Even a full 24-pack display therefore cannot be described as containing a particular Ultimate Rare, K/DA card, Heartsteel card, or signed Overnumber.

Treat any listing that promises a specific pull from a sealed display as a seller claim requiring independent verification, not as an official Radiance guarantee.

Riot’s set announcement schedules Radiance for October 23, 2026, with English, French, and Chinese releases. Until that date, previews, gallery entries, and product availability can change. A card image circulating before release may be a preview rather than the final gallery record, so preserve the edition and publication date when saving identification notes.
Radiance is identified as Riftbound set 5 and contains 167 cards, of which 61 are Showcase cards. Riot’s announcement lists booster packs and displays alongside Seraphine versus Evelynn Showdown Decks, a Vault Bundle, and Pre-Rift kits. Those products are part of the launch context, but the Ultimate Rare average applies to booster packs across the print run; it should not be extended to a deck, bundle, or kit unless Riot publishes a separate collation statement.

- Record the card name, language, set identification, treatment, and whether an artist signature is present.
- Use Ultimate Rare only after the gallery confirms the card’s identity; the overview excerpt does not name it.
- Use K/DA Special and Heartsteel Overnumber as separate labels.
- For a Legend, check whether the card is an Overnumber and whether the signature variant is shown.
- Do not turn the 0.025% print-run average into a display or case guarantee.
- Check the Riot Store listing again before relying on display stock, because an Out of Stock label can change.

Calling every premium foil an Ultimate Rare

Combining the K/DA and Heartsteel labels
The official overview assigns K/DA to Special cards and Heartsteel to Overnumbers. Combining the names obscures the treatment a buyer or trader is actually discussing.
Using an average as a promise
Approximately 0.025% is averaged across the print run. It is useful for understanding how exceptionally uncommon the tier is, but it cannot predict the contents of one pack, display, or case.
Assuming the Ultimate Rare’s name from an unofficial list
The supplied overview excerpt names the tier but not the card. Until the official gallery provides the name and image, leave the card identified as the Radiance Ultimate Rare rather than publishing an unverified name.

Start with the official gallery, then classify the treatment exactly as Riot does. The Ultimate Rare is the rarest tier explicitly identified, with an approximately 0.025% average across the full booster print run. K/DA belongs to the Special-card crossover, Heartsteel belongs to the Overnumber crossover, and signed Overnumbers are a further variant of the Overnumber concept. Sealed packs and 24-pack displays provide randomized chances, not a dependable route to any named card.
