How to identify AI-generated songs on YouTube Music and Deezer

Check the platform’s own disclosure first. In YouTube Music, open the song’s player page and look for the new AI-music notice, including any expanded “how this content was made” information. Deezer can display an AI-generated content warning on an album or track. If neither service shows a notice, investigate the artist’s history, search the title and lyrics on generation platforms such as Suno or Udio, and use an audio detector only as supporting evidence. A missing label does not prove that people made the recording: both services have limited coverage, and neither has published a universal accuracy rate for partial-AI music.

What the labels actually tell you

Platform labels are the most useful starting point because they combine information that an individual listener cannot see, such as delivery metadata, creator disclosures and automated analysis. They are indicators, not a complete census of every song that contains an AI-assisted element.

Service Where to look Primary focus What a missing label means
YouTube Music Song player page; expand information or “how this content was made” details Songs created primarily with generative AI, using partner disclosures and YouTube detection It may be undisclosed, not yet detected, or outside the rollout; it is not proof of human-only production
Deezer Warning shown on an album or track Fully synthetic music and detectable AI signatures, including output from major song generators No public evidence establishes perfect recall, especially when AI was used for only part of a recording

These labels also describe different thresholds. YouTube’s wording is tied to a significant or primary generative-AI role. Deezer’s system is designed to identify fully synthetic material and recognizable machine signatures. A song made by a human who used an AI tool for a backing vocal, mastering pass or isolated sound may therefore be treated differently from a track generated from a text prompt.

How to check a song in YouTube Music

1. Open the full player page

  1. Start the track in YouTube Music.
  2. Open the expanded player rather than relying on the compact mini-player or a playlist row.
  3. Scroll through the track information and open any information, disclosure or “how this content was made” panel.

YouTube says it is rolling out labels “to make it easier to see when a song was created primarily using generative AI.” When the service has an applicable notice, it is intended to appear directly on the player page, where it can be seen while the song is playing.

2. Record the exact wording

Capture the label text and the date you saw it. Wording matters: a notice about generative-AI creation is different from a generic synthetic-media disclosure, a rights notice or a statement that a creator used an editing tool. Recording the text prevents a later change in the interface from changing your evidence.

3. Understand where YouTube’s information comes from

Music partners can disclose generative-AI use through DDEX or CSV metadata. Uploads made through YouTube Studio can use attributes in the upload flow, and YouTube also applies its own detection systems. The general disclosure guidance says AI-generated music may receive a player label; creators can correct an erroneous disclosure through the AI-disclosure survey.

Because the process depends on partner data, creator behavior, automated detection and a rollout that may not reach every account at once, an unlabelled track remains unresolved. It could be human-made, AI-assisted below the service’s threshold, incorrectly disclosed, or simply not yet covered.

What counts as useful evidence on YouTube

  • Strongest platform signal: an explicit AI notice on the player page.
  • Useful context: a matching disclosure in the creator’s description or upload information.
  • Weak signal: unusual pronunciation, repetitive lyrics or a highly uniform vocal tone. Human performers and conventional production can create the same artifacts.

How to check a song in Deezer

1. Inspect both the track and album views

  1. Open the track in Deezer’s web player or app.
  2. View the album page as well as the individual track, because the warning can be attached at either level.
  3. Look for the visible wording AI-generated content.

Deezer’s 2025 announcement describes a detection tool that can identify fully synthetic music from prolific generators such as Suno and Udio and apply tags to albums or tracks. The Associated Press has reported that the app and website show an “AI-generated content” warning when some tracks on an album were created with song generators.

2. Interpret an album-level warning carefully

An album warning does not necessarily mean every second of every track was generated. The reported interface can warn when some tracks on an album qualify. Open the individual song to determine whether the notice is attached to that track or inherited from the release view.

3. Put Deezer’s published figures in context

Deezer reported that 28% of all music delivered to its service was fully AI-generated in September 2025. That is a Deezer platform snapshot for one month, not a measurement of all streaming services or all music released worldwide. An earlier Associated Press report, also citing Deezer in 2025, said about 18% of songs uploaded each day—roughly 20,000 tracks—were completely AI-generated. The later September figure supersedes that older daily-upload snapshot for describing Deezer’s own data, so the two numbers should not be combined or treated as a trend line.

YouTube Music and Deezer: the practical differences

Question YouTube Music Deezer
Where will I see a notice? On the player page, including expanded production-information areas On an album or track as an “AI-generated content” warning
How does information enter the system? Music-partner DDEX or CSV metadata, YouTube Studio attributes and YouTube detection Automated analysis aimed at synthetic signatures and fully generated releases
What kind of creation is emphasized? Primarily generative-AI-created songs or cases where AI played a significant role Fully synthetic material and detectable output associated with song generators
Can absence clear a song? No; disclosure and rollout coverage are incomplete No; partial-AI recordings and undetected signatures may not be tagged
Best follow-up if there is no notice Artist-history research, source-platform search and corroborating detector result The same three checks, with attention to album-versus-track scope

The services therefore answer slightly different questions. YouTube’s notice asks whether generative AI played a primary or significant role according to available disclosures and detection. Deezer’s notice is most informative when the recording is fully synthetic or carries a detectable signature. Neither label should be read as a guarantee that every human performance element—or every AI-assisted production step—has been classified.

A fallback investigation when no platform label appears

Use several independent clues rather than trying to “hear” AI from one vocal quirk. The following sequence is practical for a track whose artist is unfamiliar or whose platform information is sparse.

1. Check the artist’s real-world footprint

  • Look for a consistent social presence extending beyond a newly created profile.
  • Check older posts, release history and credits that predate the track in question.
  • Look for announced live dates, ticket sales, rehearsal clips or concert footage that identify the same performer.
  • See whether a credible label, publisher or distributor lists the artist consistently across releases.

The Associated Press describes these external signs as some of the most obvious cues because they do not depend on subtle audio artifacts. They are not conclusive: a legitimate virtual act, anonymous producer or new artist can have little history, while a fabricated profile can imitate one. Treat the footprint as corroboration, not a pass/fail test.

2. Search the likely creation source

  1. Search the exact track title in quotation marks.
  2. Search a distinctive lyric line and the artist or creator handle.
  3. Repeat the search on Suno and Udio, where creators often publish generated songs.
  4. Compare the upload date, lyrics, artwork and audio preview with the streaming version.

An exact match on a source page is strong evidence that the recording originated there. Access may require an account, and no search result proves anything: creators can delete posts, use a different title or keep the generation private. Save the source-page URL and date if you are documenting the finding.

3. Use a detector only as a second opinion

The IRCAM Amplify detector is one publicly discussed option. Run the same track more than once only if the service itself recommends it, and preserve the original file or stream details. A detector score is not an authorship certificate. Models can be trained on particular generators, misclassify heavily processed human recordings and miss AI used for only one component.

4. Compare signals before reaching a conclusion

A platform label, a matching source-page upload and a coherent artist-history gap point in the same direction. A single detector score or a hunch based on pronunciation does not. Write down which observations are direct (for example, a visible label), which are corroborating (a source-page match) and which are subjective (a vocal impression).

Why audio clues alone are unreliable

Older synthetic vocals often had obvious timing, sibilance or vowel problems. Current generators can produce convincing performances, and ordinary production can introduce similar artifacts through pitch correction, time stretching, noise reduction, layered backing vocals or a deliberately stylized delivery. Lyrics that repeat a phrase, abrupt genre changes and generic artist biographies may raise a question, but none identifies the production method by itself.

Partial-AI workflows make classification harder. A human might write lyrics and sing the lead while using a model for harmony, drums, arrangement ideas or mastering. Another producer might generate a complete demo and replace the vocal before release. A detector trained to find fully synthetic audio may miss both cases, while a platform policy focused on songs created primarily with generative AI may not apply.

What detector accuracy can—and cannot—be claimed

No source currently establishes a validated accuracy percentage for YouTube Music’s detector or Deezer’s detector across every form of AI-assisted music. That missing number is important: a percentage from one test set, one generator or one version of a model would not describe the track in front of you.

Use detectors as evidence with known limits:

  • Training bias: a tool may recognize generators represented in its training data and miss newer systems.
  • Compression: streaming codecs, screen recordings and low-bitrate files can remove the very features a detector uses.
  • Editing: a human performance mixed with generated stems may fall between “human” and “synthetic” classes.
  • Adversarial changes: pitch shifts, resampling, filtering or re-recording through speakers can alter a result.
  • False positives: unusual but genuine singers, choirs and heavily processed genres can look synthetic.

If a detector gives a probability or category, quote it exactly and identify the tool and date. Do not convert that output into a claim that a person or platform has proven authorship.

A repeatable evidence worksheet

For a single listening decision, a short note is enough. For journalism, moderation, rights disputes or catalog cleanup, keep a fuller record:

  1. Identify the item: copy the track title, artist name, album, catalog identifier if shown, and the page URL.
  2. Timestamp the observation: record the date, service, country or account context when relevant, and app or web interface.
  3. Capture platform wording: quote the YouTube Music or Deezer label exactly; do not paraphrase an absence into “human-made.”
  4. Check the creator: note older releases, live evidence, profiles and credits, separating verified facts from assumptions.
  5. Search source platforms: save matching Suno or Udio pages, or note that no public match was found after searching the title, lyrics and handle.
  6. Run corroboration: if you use a detector, preserve its name, version or page, input file, result and date.
  7. State confidence narrowly: say “labelled by Deezer,” “matching source upload found” or “detector flagged,” rather than claiming certainty about how every element was made.

Common situations and the safest interpretation

The song has a YouTube Music AI notice

Treat the notice as the service’s determination that generative AI played a significant or primary role under its disclosure and detection process. It does not tell you which vocal, lyric or instrumental layer was generated unless the creator supplies that detail.

Deezer labels the album but not an individual track

Read the warning as album-level context and inspect each track page. The reported interface can warn when some tracks on a release are generated; do not automatically assign the same status to every song without a track-level notice or additional evidence.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There is no label, but the artist has no history

Continue with source-platform searches and independent checks. An empty biography is a reason to investigate, not proof of synthetic music; new, anonymous and virtual artists can be legitimate.

A detector says “AI,” but the artist has extensive live footage

Do not force a binary conclusion. The recording may contain generated accompaniment, an altered stem or artifacts from processing. Seek a platform disclosure, credits or a source upload and describe the disagreement explicitly.

The track sounds artificial but no tool agrees

Set the suspicion aside unless stronger evidence appears. Human vocal effects, translation, deliberate character voices and low-quality uploads can all sound unusual. A listening impression is useful for deciding what to investigate, not for making an attribution.

What listeners should do with an uncertain result

If your goal is simply to decide whether to play a song, mark it as “unverified” rather than spreading an accusation. If you are reporting a catalog entry, provide the platform label and date so the service can review a possible error. For rights, payment or impersonation disputes, preserve the original pages and contact the relevant service or rights administrator; a consumer detector result alone is not a substitute for that process.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Labels and detection systems can change as services expand coverage, correct disclosures or update models. Recheck an important finding rather than assuming that a result from one interface or date will remain identical.

The practical decision rule

Use a platform label as your first and strongest clue, then seek an independent source or artist-history match. Treat a detector as supporting material, especially when AI may have been used for only one part of the production. The defensible conclusion is usually specific—“Deezer labelled this track,” “a matching generator upload exists,” or “the available signals are inconclusive”—not a blanket claim that every unlabelled recording was made by humans.
