How to Host a Remote Game Night Around a Browser Golf Game

The easiest remote golf night is a small, browser-first session with the room size checked before you invite everyone. Use PUTTLE for an explicitly documented live two-player match, Three Pins for a real-time party room whose capacity you verify in advance, or Plazmah if phone motion controls are the main attraction. If your group is larger and everyone can install a desktop game, Steam lists Golf With Your Friends for online play with up to 12 players.

Choose the game before you send the invitation

A browser link does not automatically mean that a game can host a large live party. The decisive questions are how many people can enter the same session, whether play is synchronous, what each person must install or hold, and how you will talk while playing.

Option Live-player information Setup Formats or controls Communication and caveats
PUTTLE One live match is 1v1 on a five-hole course. Open in a browser; no download or account is required. The host creates a battle and sends an invite link. Live match; two-player scramble; separate daily course and friend ghost challenges. No in-game voice or text chat. A live session is not pass-and-play on one screen. The daily course and crew board are alternatives for people who cannot join the same live match.
Three Pins Party mode is designed for real-time group play, but the reviewed page does not state a maximum party size. Create a party, then share its room code or link. Stroke play, skins, match play and horse-race elimination. Check the lobby’s actual capacity before promising a large event.
Plazmah The product page describes online challenges but does not establish a remote room limit. The host opens the game on a computer or smart-TV browser. Players scan a QR code with their phones. Phones act as motion controllers; the page also describes local competition. Remote-room steps and online capacity are not detailed publicly. Test the intended mode and group first.
Golf With Your Friends (Steam) Steam lists online multiplayer for up to 12 players. Each participant needs the downloadable game and compatible desktop hardware. Installed online multiplayer rather than a browser-only session. Use it when installation is acceptable. The Steam listing shows a region-dependent price, so no single worldwide price applies.

For a two-person evening with the least friction, PUTTLE is the clearest choice. For a browser-based group room, Three Pins is the strongest fit found here, provided you verify its capacity. Plazmah is the specialist option for phone-based motion input, not a room-size certainty. A group that can install software has the most clearly published large-session figure with Golf With Your Friends.

Run a two-player browser match with PUTTLE

PUTTLE’s live flow is deliberately short: the host opens the game, creates a match, and shares the invitation. Its official multiplayer documentation, updated 3 October 2026, says a live match is two players and uses a five-hole course. No account or download is required, but both players need an internet connection.

  • Digital Stereo Sound: Fine-tuned drivers provide enhanced digital audio for music, calls, meetings and more
  • Rotating Noise Canceling Mic: Minimizes unwanted background noise for clear conversations; the rotating boom arm can be tucked out of the way when you’re not using it
  • Handy In-line Controls: Simple in-line controls on the headset cable let you adjust the volume or mute calls without disruption
  • Plug-and-Play USB Computer Headset: Simply plug the USB-A connector into your computer and you’re ready to talk or listen without the need to install software
  • Padded Comfort: Comfortable headphones with adjustable headband features swivel-mounted, leatherette ear cushions for hours of comfort and is easy to clean

Host steps

  1. Open PUTTLE in a browser.
  2. Choose Live with a friend.
  3. Select 1v1.
  4. Start the battle.
  5. Copy the generated invite link and send it to the other player.
  6. Wait for the guest to enter, then agree on whether you are playing competitively or treating the round as a practice match.

The labels matter: choosing the live-friend path is different from opening the daily course. The daily course is asynchronous; a friend can challenge your score through a ghost rather than taking shots at the same time. That is useful when schedules do not overlap, but it is not a live room.

Use scramble when you want cooperation

PUTTLE also describes a scramble in which two players share a team. Decide before starting whether you will alternate shots, let the better position dictate the next shot, or use another house rule. Put the rule in the invitation so neither player assumes that the mode is a head-to-head match.

Plan conversation outside the game

PUTTLE expressly has no voice or text chat. Its official multiplayer page states: “There’s no live matchmaking with strangers (the daily foursome is against their ghosts) and no voice or text chat — live games have emotes only.” Share a separate voice or video-call link in the same message as the game invite. A headset with a microphone can make that call clearer, but it is optional equipment, not a game requirement.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Know what PUTTLE cannot do

There is no pass-and-play mode on one screen for a larger gathering. PUTTLE’s documentation says that a live match is two players; for a bigger social group it points to sharing the daily course and using a crew board or the Weekly Open. The crew board can support up to 50 members, but that is a score-and-community feature, not a 50-person live match. If six friends arrive expecting one simultaneous room, switch to Three Pins, test Plazmah, or use an installed game instead of trying to improvise a local pass-around.

Host a real-time group room with Three Pins

Three Pins’ Party mode is the most direct browser-style route for a live group night in the available options. The host creates a room, then distributes a code or link so participants can enter the same holes in real time.

Create and share the party

  1. Open Three Pins and choose Party.
  2. Create a room.
  3. Copy the room code or invite link.
  4. Send it with the start time and the format you selected.
  5. Have every guest join the lobby before the first hole begins.

The reviewed live page does not publish a party-size limit. Do not advertise “unlimited players” or promise that a large workplace or family group will fit. Open the lobby ahead of time, add the intended number of participants, and confirm that everyone appears before sending a final reminder. If the interface rejects the last entrant, reduce the field or divide the night into rotations.

Amazon Basics On Ear Wired Computer Headset with Adjustable Microphone, 3.5mm Port or in-Line Control with USB-A Port, Foldable, Clear Sound, Small/Medium Size, Black
  • How it Fits: On-ear compact design may feel snug initially—adjust properly and wear 30-60 minutes daily for the first week. Optimal comfort achieved after 1-2 weeks as ear cups conform to your ears. Take 10-minute breaks during extended use.
  • Wired computer headset with foldable design; ideal for calls, meetings, online learning, and more. Compact headset measures 6.1" W x 7.2" H with 2.8" ear cups and 4.4" boom mic. Ideal fit for small to medium head sizes
  • Flexible, adjustable boom mic can be positioned at any angle; unidirectional mic reduces the background noise to ensure crisp, bright conversations (Provided that your conversation is under the correct direction of the microphone)
  • 32mm speaker drivers offer an immersive listening experience with clear sound quality
  • One-touch mute/unmute with intuitive in-line control box; Using microphone, slide the button upward to unmute and enabled audio settings in your device. For USB connection, ensure the 3.5mm jack (4-pin) is fully inserted into the USB adapter. For direct 3.5mm connection, first remove the USB adapter from your device

Pick a format that matches the group

  • Stroke play: compare total strokes across the round. It is the simplest format for mixed skill levels because everyone can play the same holes and the lowest total wins.
  • Skins: award each hole to its winner. Decide in advance what happens when two or more players tie; carrying the skin forward is a clear house rule.
  • Match play: compare players hole by hole rather than adding every stroke. It works well for a bracket or a small number of head-to-head pairings.
  • Horse-race elimination: remove players according to the game’s elimination flow. Explain whether eliminated guests should remain on the call as spectators or join a later round.

Because the page lists these modes but does not establish every scoring detail, explain your tie and rematch rule in the invitation. That prevents a pause in the lobby while everyone debates what a tied hole means.

Use Plazmah when phones should be the controllers

Plazmah’s distinguishing idea is motion input from players’ phones. The host opens the game on a computer or smart-TV browser, and participants scan a QR code to connect their phones as controllers. The product page describes both local competition and online challenges.

Prepare the controller flow

  1. Open Plazmah on the host computer or smart-TV browser.
  2. Display the QR code supplied by the game.
  3. Ask each player to scan it with a phone and keep that phone available as the controller.
  4. Confirm that each phone is connected before starting a round.
  5. Run a short test so players understand the motion input and the host can see every connected participant.

The public page does not give detailed instructions for creating a remote room, state an online capacity, or establish how reliable the online challenge mode is for a particular group. Treat those as questions to answer in a rehearsal, not assumptions to make on game night. If the QR flow works only for local play in your setup, keep a browser-room backup ready.

When installing a game is the better choice

If the group is too large for a verified browser room, or everyone is comfortable installing software, Steam lists Golf With Your Friends with online multiplayer for up to 12 players. The listing gives a release date of 19 May 2020. Each guest must install the game and have compatible desktop hardware, so this is not the low-friction browser option.

Send installation instructions at least a day early, and ask guests to launch the game before the call. The Steam price shown to one shopper can vary by region, so tell guests to check their own store page rather than quoting a universal amount. If even one participant cannot install it, return to a browser option or split the group into smaller sessions.

A practical run-of-show for remote game night

The host’s job is mostly expectation management. Use this sequence to avoid discovering a missing controller, an overcrowded room or a silent game after everyone arrives.

1. Count the people who will actually play

Make a list of confirmed players, not just invitees. Separate active players from spectators, children who may share a device, and late arrivals. Match that count to a published limit where one exists. For Three Pins and Plazmah, the public material here does not establish a maximum, so capacity checking is part of preparation.

2. Choose the lowest-friction option that fits

  • Choose PUTTLE for exactly two simultaneous players who want a quick browser match.
  • Choose Three Pins for a live group room after confirming the lobby accepts the intended headcount.
  • Choose Plazmah when phone motion control is more important than a clearly documented remote capacity.
  • Choose Golf With Your Friends when up to 12 online players and desktop installation fit the group.

3. Send one complete invitation

Put the game name, join link or code, start time with time zone, equipment requirement, communication link and format in one message. State plainly whether guests need only a browser, a desktop installation, or a phone in addition to the host screen. Ask them to open the game before the official start so troubleshooting does not consume the first hole.

A useful message has this shape: “Join at [time] using the game link below. You need [browser only / installed desktop game / phone plus browser]. We will play [format]. Join the voice call here. Please enter five minutes early so we can check the room.” If you use a template variable, replace it before sending; do not leave brackets in the final invitation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

4. Open communication separately

Use a voice or video call when the game lacks chat, as PUTTLE does. Put the call link beside the game link rather than sending it later. Participants who do not want video can join audio-only. A headset is useful for reducing speaker feedback, but no dedicated audio hardware is necessary.

5. Explain the rules in one minute

State whether the night is individual or team-based, how ties are handled, whether a disconnected player gets a retry, and how many rounds you expect. For Three Pins, name the selected mode. For PUTTLE scramble, explain how teammates decide the next shot. A short rule briefing is more effective than changing scoring halfway through.

6. Perform a lobby check

Ask each guest to say their screen name when they enter. Confirm that the host sees the same participants, that the selected mode is correct and that anyone using a phone controller has a connected device. If the last person cannot join, stop before starting and decide whether to remove a participant, create a second room or move to the backup plan.

7. Keep a recovery plan visible

Save the invite link, room code and call link in the host’s notes. If a live room fails, use an asynchronous daily course or ghost challenge for players who can continue on their own schedule. For a large group, run two heats and compare winners rather than forcing everyone into an unverified room.

Design formats for mixed-skill groups

Short competitive night

Use one short round, announce the winner by total strokes or holes won, then offer an optional rematch. This keeps the commitment small for guests who are new to the game.

Cooperative night

Use PUTTLE scramble for a two-person team. Agree on shot selection before the first hole and treat the score as a shared result. If more than two people attend, make rotating pairs and let the waiting players comment on the active match.

Tournament night

For Three Pins, divide the evening into a qualifying round and a final. Stroke play is easy to score across a field; match play is better for a bracket. Explain whether a tie creates a playoff, a shared place or a rematch in the next session.

Drop-in social night

Use a room code and a flexible start window. Keep one round running while late guests join the call, then place them in the next heat if the current game cannot accept entrants. This is safer than promising that a late arrival can join an active round.

Troubleshoot the common failure points

The room is full or the capacity is unclear

Do not infer a limit from the word Party. For Three Pins, test the actual lobby with the planned headcount. For Plazmah, test both the QR connection and the online challenge mode. If the room cannot fit everyone, split into heats or choose the installed option whose listing states a 12-player limit.

A guest expected voice chat

Explain before the start that PUTTLE has no voice or text chat and provides emotes only in live games. Move conversation to the separate call. If someone cannot use a call, use the game’s available emotes and a text channel outside the game.

A player did not receive the invite

Resend the complete link or code rather than a screenshot of a partially visible lobby. Ask the guest to open the link in the same browser session they will use to play, then verify that their name appears in the host’s room. Keep the code in plain text so it can be copied accurately.

Phone controls are not connecting

For Plazmah, return to the host screen, display the QR code again and have the player rescan it. Check that the phone remains awake and that the host can see the controller before beginning. If the online mode still cannot be verified, switch to a standard browser room or run a local demonstration rather than delaying the whole group.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Someone cannot install the desktop game

Do not make installation a last-minute requirement. Move that player to a browser option, or schedule a separate browser round. The downloadable game is an alternative, not a browser-compatible fallback.

Make the invitation honest about what guests need

List every requirement in a compact checklist:

  • Game name and exact join link or room code.
  • Start time and time zone.
  • Browser-only, desktop-installation or phone-controller requirement.
  • Separate voice or video-call link when chat is not built in.
  • Chosen scoring mode and tie rule.
  • Early-arrival time for the lobby check.
  • Backup plan if the room limit or connection fails.

This wording prevents the most common mismatch: a guest assumes “browser game” means any number of people can join instantly, while the selected title actually supports only a small live match or has an unpublished capacity.

Decision guide: which setup should you use?

Your situation Best starting point Reason Check before inviting
Two people, no installation PUTTLE Live with a friend The documented flow is browser-based, account-free and explicitly 1v1. Both players have internet access; arrange a separate call if you want conversation.
Three or more people who want one live browser room Three Pins Party It offers a room code or link and several real-time formats. Verify the lobby capacity because the public page does not state a maximum.
Players want motion controls Plazmah Phones can serve as controllers through a QR join flow. Rehearse online joining and confirm the group size works.
Large group willing to install Golf With Your Friends on Steam The store listing states online play for up to 12 players. Everyone has compatible desktop hardware and has installed the game in advance.
Schedules do not overlap PUTTLE daily course and ghost challenge Players can compare attempts asynchronously. Agree on a deadline and how you will record the result.

The reliable hosting principle is simple: advertise only the capacity and setup you have verified. PUTTLE’s two-player live limit is explicit; Three Pins’ room is promising but its maximum is unstated; Plazmah’s phone flow is distinctive but needs a rehearsal; and the installed Steam option has the clearest published large-group figure.
