A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Start by identifying which “New Beginnings” pack you own: the original HR: New Beginnings runs on Minecraft 1.15.2, while HR: New Beginnings 2 is a separate 1.16.5 pack. Download that pack’s server files, install the exact Forge build named by the release, use a 64-bit Java runtime that is compatible with the pack, and give the server a fixed heap such as -Xms4G -Xmx4G. The client and server must use the same Minecraft version, Forge version, mods and configuration files.
Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.

| Pack | Minecraft version shown in the listing | Loader | Server-file information | How much to trust the date |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HR: New Beginnings (original) | 1.15.2 | Forge | A file named “New Beginnings 2.0 Server” is listed in April 2020. A later search listing reports “New Beginnings Server 2.6.0” on February 15, 2021. | The April 2020 entry is a medium-confidence listing; the 2.6.0 date is only a low-confidence cached summary. Confirm the current Files tab. |
| HR: New Beginnings 2 | 1.16.5 | Forge | The most recent listing found is “New Beginnings 2 2.0.1,” dated August 17, 2021. | Listings are several years old and may be cached. Check for a newer release before installing. |
Open the project’s Files tab and record the exact file name, Minecraft version, Forge build and whether a separate server pack is available. Do not infer a Forge build from the Minecraft version alone. The original pack’s 1.15.2 files cannot be mixed with the sequel’s 1.16.5 files.
Choose self-hosting or a managed panel
| Consideration | Self-hosted PC or VPS | Managed game-server panel |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | You pay for the computer or VPS and its electricity or rental time. The software itself is normally free. | You pay a recurring hosting fee; the provider supplies the machine and panel. |
| Initial setup | You install Java, Forge, the server pack, firewall rules and backups yourself. | A modpack installer may create the instance, install Java and set memory automatically. |
| Control | Full control of Java, Forge, ports, files, scripts and update timing. | Control depends on the panel. Some settings, Java images or custom jars may be restricted. |
| Maintenance | You perform updates, monitor crashes and secure the operating system. | The panel can simplify restarts and file management, but you still need to verify versions and back up worlds. |
| Best fit | Administrators who want maximum control and are comfortable with command-line work. | Groups that prefer a guided install and predictable availability. |
The project page has described automated installation through at least one paid host, but that is an option rather than a requirement. A one-click installer does not remove the need to verify the pack release, Java image, Forge version and memory allocation.

Prerequisites and information to collect
- The exact client release and its Minecraft version (1.15.2 or 1.16.5).
- The matching author-provided server pack, not the client-only download.
- A 64-bit Java runtime compatible with that Minecraft generation. Generic 1.15.2 guidance commonly points to Java 8, but the pack’s files and your host’s supported image take priority. The exact Java requirement for these packs has not been confirmed in the available listings.
- A machine with enough memory for the operating system, Java and the players’ activity.
- Permission to open the chosen listening port if people outside your home network will connect.
- A backup location with enough space for the world, configuration files and uploaded server pack.
Keep the client and server release files together while installing. If a launcher profile says one version but the server download page shows another, stop and resolve that mismatch before launching.
Install the server on your own computer or VPS
1. Create a clean server directory
Make a new directory dedicated to this instance, such as new-beginnings-server. Avoid placing it inside the client’s installation directory. A clean directory makes backups, upgrades and rollback easier and prevents old mods from being loaded accidentally.
2. Download the author’s server pack
Use the server file attached to the exact release you selected. A client pack often contains files intended for a launcher and may omit server scripts or include client-only mods. Extract the server archive into the new directory without nesting it several levels deep. You should be able to see the supplied launch script, Forge files, a mods directory or equivalent, and configuration files in the instance’s top level.
3. Install the matching Forge build
Use the Forge build named by that release. “Forge for 1.15.2” or “Forge for 1.16.5” is not precise enough when several builds exist. The client and server must run the same Forge version exactly; a different build can reject the connection even when the Minecraft version matches.

When the server archive already includes a Forge jar or an installer script, use those supplied files rather than downloading a newer Forge build. If the archive expects you to run an installer, run it in the server directory and select the server-install option. Do not start the server until the installation has completed and the launch script points to the generated Forge server files.
4. Select and verify Java
Install a 64-bit Java runtime and check which executable the launch script uses. On a machine with several Java versions, an operating-system default may point to an incompatible runtime. The safest approach is to set the script or panel’s Java path explicitly, then verify its reported version before the first launch.
For 1.15.2-era packs, general hosting guidance frequently uses Java 8; that is a starting point, not a pack-author confirmation. For 1.16.5, use the Java image supported by the selected Forge build and the host. If Forge exits before creating files, or reports an unsupported class version, change the Java runtime rather than repeatedly reinstalling mods.
5. Set a fixed heap
Configure the launch script with equal minimum and maximum heap values. For example, a four-gigabyte allocation uses -Xms4G -Xmx4G; a six-gigabyte allocation uses -Xms6G -Xmx6G. Equal values prevent the JVM from repeatedly resizing the heap while players are online.

These numbers are starting points from generic modded-server guidance, not a measured requirement for either New Beginnings pack. Guides commonly cite about 4 GB as a minimum and 6 GB as a recommendation for servers with roughly 20–40 mods, with more memory needed as player count, view distance and chunk activity rise. Leave memory for the operating system and do not assign all physical RAM to Java.
6. Accept the EULA and perform the first launch
- Run the supplied server script once. It will normally stop after creating
eula.txtand initial configuration files. - Open
eula.txt, read the linked terms, and change the acceptance line toeula=trueif you agree. - Run the same script again. The first successful start can take several minutes while Forge and the mods create registries and a world.
- Wait for the console to report that the server is ready before connecting. Stopping it while files are still being generated can leave an incomplete world or configuration.
Use the script supplied with the server pack whenever possible. If you must create your own script, preserve the Forge arguments generated by the installer and add the fixed -Xms and -Xmx values; do not replace the Forge jar with a guessed filename.

- Stop the server cleanly from its console before editing files.
- Set the server name, difficulty, game mode, view distance and whitelist in
server.propertiesaccording to your group’s preferences. - Keep the default listening port unless another service already uses it. If you change it, distribute the new port to players and open that same port in the firewall and router.
- Enable a whitelist for a private group and add players from the console.
- Review the pack’s configuration directory for settings that affect world generation, progression or performance. Do not copy configuration files from the other New Beginnings pack.
8. Make the server reachable
Players on the same home network can usually connect to the host computer’s local address. Internet players need the server port allowed through the operating-system firewall and, on a home connection, forwarded from the router to the host machine. A VPS generally needs an inbound firewall rule in both the provider console and the operating system. Only expose the port you need, keep the operating system patched, and never share remote-administration credentials with players.
Give remote players your public address and configured port only after testing locally. If your internet service uses carrier-grade NAT, ordinary port forwarding may not work; use a reachable VPS or a tunneling solution that you understand and trust.

Install through a hosting panel
- Create a new Minecraft instance and choose the modpack installer, if the panel lists the exact New Beginnings release.
- Select the matching Minecraft version: 1.15.2 for the original or 1.16.5 for New Beginnings 2.
- Confirm that the installer is using the author’s server pack rather than asking you to upload a client archive.
- Check the Java image and memory fields. A panel may select them automatically, but verify that Java is compatible with the selected Minecraft and Forge versions.
- After installation, inspect the file manager for the expected
mods, configuration and Forge files. Compare the Forge version with the client profile. - Set the panel’s minimum and maximum memory to the same value, then start the instance and accept the EULA through the panel or file manager.
- Use the panel’s console to wait for a ready message, then connect with the address and port shown by the panel.
If the panel offers only a similarly named pack or a different Minecraft version, do not install it as a substitute. Upload the correct server archive manually only when the host supports custom Forge instances and you can select a compatible Java image.
Prepare every player’s client
Each player must install the same New Beginnings release, Minecraft version, Forge build and mod configuration. The easiest route is to import the same release into the launcher used by the pack and avoid manually adding or removing mods.
- A client on 1.15.2 cannot join a 1.16.5 server, and the reverse is also true.
- A different Forge build can produce a version-mismatch error even when the mod list looks identical.
- Client-only performance or graphics mods may be acceptable on a client, but do not add server-required mods to only one side. Follow each mod’s stated side requirement.
- When the server administrator changes the pack release, have everyone close the game, update to the same release and back up any local saves before reconnecting.
Diagnose the most common failures
The server stops immediately with a Java or class-version error
Check the Java executable used by the script or panel, not merely the version installed on the machine. Switch to a 64-bit runtime compatible with the Minecraft and Forge generation, then start again. Do not solve a class-version error by changing the Forge jar at random.
Players receive a Forge or mod-list mismatch
Compare the server’s Forge build and pack release with the client profile. Reinstall the exact server pack if files were copied from another release. Remove stray mods and restore the release’s original configuration files before testing again.

The process crashes or the machine becomes unresponsive
Check available physical memory, not just the Java heap. A heap that consumes nearly all RAM leaves no room for the operating system. Start with the generic 4 GB or 6 GB range, watch memory use during exploration and additional players, and increase allocation only when the machine has headroom. Also check the console for a specific mod error before assuming the problem is RAM.
The server runs but nobody outside the host can connect
Confirm that the server is listening on the configured port, the operating-system firewall allows it, and a home router forwards it to the correct local address. Verify the public address from outside the home network. A changing public address or carrier-grade NAT can make a previously working setup unreachable.
The world or configuration becomes corrupted
Stop the server with its console command, never by killing the process during a save. Restore the world and configuration from a backup made before the failed change. Keep separate backups for the world, server.properties, the pack’s configuration directory and the launch script.
Updates, backups and safe changes
Before an update
- Record the current pack release, Minecraft version and Forge build.
- Stop the server cleanly and copy the complete instance directory, excluding temporary logs only if storage is limited.
- Tell players that the world may be upgraded and that they must update their clients together.
- Read the release notes and check whether the author supplied a new server archive. Never assume that replacing only the mods directory is sufficient.
Test an update safely
Copy the backup to a separate test directory and launch it with a different world name or on a private port. Check that Forge loads, the world opens and essential progression systems work before applying the release to the public instance. Keep the old directory intact until the new one has been stable.
Schedule backups
For a small private server, make an automatic daily backup and a manual backup before every mod, Forge or configuration change. Retain several generations on a different disk or machine. A backup that remains on the same failing VPS does not protect the world.

Practical launch checklist
- Correct pack selected: original 1.15.2 or New Beginnings 2 at 1.16.5.
- Current server file obtained from the project’s Files tab; cached dates treated as unconfirmed.
- Author-provided server archive used instead of the client pack.
- Forge build exactly matches the client.
- 64-bit, compatible Java selected and explicitly used by the launch script or panel.
-Xmsand-Xmxset to the same value with operating-system headroom.- EULA accepted and first launch completed without interrupting file generation.
- Firewall, router or VPS rules allow the configured port.
- Whitelist, backups and player permissions configured before public access.
- Every player installed the same release, Minecraft version, Forge build and required mods.
What is and is not confirmed about versions and memory
The available CurseForge listings identify the original pack as a 1.15.2 Forge pack and the sequel as a 1.16.x pack, with the cited sequel file supporting 1.16.5. They do not establish a permanent latest release: the reported original 2.6.0 file is from February 2021, and the reported sequel 2.0.1 file is from August 2021. Treat those as historical references and verify the live Files tab.
No pack-specific Forge build, Java requirement or author-verified RAM figure is established by those listings. The 4 GB minimum and 6 GB recommendation are generic guidance for modded servers in the approximate 20–40-mod range, not a guarantee for New Beginnings. Your actual requirement depends on player count, loaded chunks, view distance, JVM behavior and the machine’s total RAM.
