Download the server-pack release that exactly matches the clients, start Fabric once to generate its files, accept the EULA, deploy the pack contents, assign memory for your player count, and test a client connection before inviting everyone.
Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
CurseForge currently lists Create: Astral as a Fabric modpack for Minecraft 1.18.2. The project page shows Create Astral Server Pack v2.1.5b as its latest displayed release, dated August 23, 2026. Treat that release information as time-sensitive: always verify the project page immediately before installing.

What you need before installing
A reliable installation depends more on matching versions than on any single command. Prepare these items first:
- A machine with an SSD, dependable network connectivity, and enough free storage for the server, world, logs, backups, and future updates.
- Java 17. Fabric’s server guidance places Minecraft 1.18.2 in the Java 17 range; Java 8, 11, or a newer untested runtime can cause launch or mod-loading failures.
- The exact Minecraft 1.18.2 Create: Astral release your group will use.
- The matching Fabric loader and the separate Create Astral Server Pack file from the project’s CurseForge files.
- A dedicated server directory that is not mixed with another Minecraft instance.
- A backup destination separate from the live world directory.
CurseForge labels the pack with a custom license. Read that license before redistributing the pack, mirroring its files, or publishing a preconfigured server image. Direct-use questions about Astral-specific resources should be directed to the project team.

Confirm the exact Create: Astral release
Do this before downloading Java installers or copying files. Modpacks can change their mod lists, configurations, recipes, and loader requirements between releases.
- Open the Create: Astral project’s files on CurseForge.
- Record the Minecraft version, Fabric designation, pack release number, and the corresponding server-pack filename.
- At the time covered by this guide, those details are Minecraft 1.18.2, Fabric, and Create Astral Server Pack v2.1.5b.
- Give your players the same release information so every client is built from one version.
Do not pair a client profile from one release with a server pack from another. A server can start while still producing confusing client disconnects if the mod list or configuration differs. CurseForge’s compatibility guidance makes the practical rule clear: game version and modloader must be compatible, and the host and clients must use the same pack release.

Self-hosting
Self-hosting gives you direct control over the files, console, logs, backups, upgrade timing, and network configuration. You are also responsible for installing Java and Fabric, maintaining the server pack, securing the machine, exposing the Minecraft port, monitoring crashes, and restoring backups.
Port forwarding, firewall syntax, service managers, and scheduled-backup commands vary by operating system and router, so there is no single safe command that applies to every machine. Keep the server private while you test, and expose it publicly only after you understand your firewall and router rules.
Managed hosting
A managed provider can remove much of the operating-system and networking work. Modrinth Hosting says it integrates modpack installation and supports Fabric, and its published managed tiers include 4 GB, 6 GB, and 8 GB options. Astroworld documents a Create: Astral-specific installer that selects Fabric and Java versions and applies the server pack.
These services change their prices, available regions, stock, backup features, and support policies. Check those details at purchase time rather than treating a current plan page as permanent. A one-click installer is useful only if it imports the exact Create: Astral release your players installed.
| Decision factor | Self-hosting | Managed hosting |
|---|---|---|
| Initial setup | Install Java, Fabric, the server pack, and scripts yourself. | Usually provides a control panel and integrated modpack installation. |
| File and log access | Direct access to every file and process. | Depends on the provider’s panel, file manager, and console. |
| Networking | You handle firewall rules, port forwarding, and public exposure. | The provider normally handles the listening port; verify its firewall and DDoS policy. |
| Backups | You design, schedule, test, and store them. | Confirm frequency, retention, restore controls, and whether backups are downloadable. |
| Scaling | Upgrade your machine or move the instance yourself. | Often allows a RAM-tier change; verify CPU allocation and upgrade terms. |
| Data portability | Full control of the world and configuration files. | Check cancellation and data-export procedures before uploading a valuable world. |
Install Java 17 and prepare the server directory
Verify Java before launching
Install a 64-bit Java 17 runtime and verify it from a terminal or command prompt:
java -version
The output should identify Java 17. If the command reports another major version, fix the system path or use the full path to the Java 17 executable in your start script. Fabric’s documentation recommends Java 17 for Minecraft 1.17 through 1.20.4 and specifically lists 1.18.2 in that range.
Create an isolated directory
Create a directory used only by this server. Keep the installer, Fabric launcher, vanilla server jar, pack files, world, logs, and configuration files together unless the pack’s own instructions specify a different layout. Avoid installing into a client profile directory; client launchers often contain files that are not appropriate for a dedicated server.
Before inviting players, decide where automated backups will live. A backup on the same disk is not sufficient protection against disk failure or accidental deletion. The world, configuration, and server files all matter: saving only the world can leave you without the matching mod settings needed to load it correctly.

- The classic UNO card game builds fun on game night with a Minecraft theme.
- UNO Minecraft features a deck and storage tin decorated with graphics from the popular video game.
- Players match colors and numbers to the card on top of the discard pile as in the classic game.
- The Creeper card unique to this deck forces other players to draw 3 cards.
- Makes a great gift for kid, teen, adult and family game nights with 2 to 10 players ages 7 years and older, especially Minecraft and video game fans.
Install Fabric for Minecraft 1.18.2
Fabric documents two equivalent server-installation routes. Use the route that suits your operating system and keep the resulting filenames visible so your launch script points to the right file.
Executable server-jar route
- Place the Fabric executable server jar in the dedicated server directory.
- Run it from that directory with Java 17 and the headless option.
- Allow the first run to generate the server files, then stop the process cleanly.
Fabric Installer server-tab route
- Open the Fabric installer and select its Server tab.
- Choose Minecraft 1.18.2 and the loader version required by the selected Create: Astral release.
- Set the installation location to your dedicated server directory.
- Complete the installation. The documented result includes
fabric-server-launch.jarand a vanillaserver.jarin that directory.
For a headless server, Fabric shows this launch pattern:
java -Xmx2G -jar <fabric server launcher jar file name> nogui
The 2G value is only Fabric’s documentation example, not a recommendation for Create: Astral. Replace it with a heap appropriate to your player count, as described below.
Complete the first start and EULA step
- Start the Fabric launcher once with the
noguioption. - Wait for the initial files to be generated, then stop the server from its console rather than closing the terminal abruptly.
- Open
eula.txtand read Mojang’s EULA. - Change
eula=falsetoeula=trueonly if you accept the EULA. - Start the server again and watch the console until it reports that the server is ready for connections.
Fabric’s Windows tutorial documents generating a start script and launching with fabric-server-launch.jar nogui. The exact script extension differs by operating system, but the important details are the Java 17 executable, the Fabric launcher filename, the heap setting, and the headless flag.

Deploy the Create: Astral server pack
Download the server-pack file that matches the client release you recorded earlier. The project exposes a distinct Create Astral Server Pack; downloading only a client profile does not create a clean dedicated server.

- Now Minecraft lovers can play a special version of UNO!
- Same as Basic UNO but features Minecraft characters and includes special Creeper rule card. Draw this card and the other players have to draw three more cards from the pile!
- The goal is to get rid of all the cards in your hand.
- First player or team to 500 wins.
- When you're down to one card, don't forget to yell "UNO"!
- Stop the server before copying or replacing files.
- Extract the server-pack archive exactly as instructed by the project, preserving its directory structure.
- Copy the supplied contents into the Fabric server directory, allowing the pack’s configurations and required libraries to be present.
- Do not overwrite files from a different Create: Astral release unless the project’s instructions explicitly require it.
- Start the server and inspect the console for missing dependencies, loader errors, or a clear ready message.
If the archive includes its own start script or launch instructions, compare its Java and memory settings with your chosen configuration before using it. Keep a copy of the original pack files so you can reproduce the installation after a failed upgrade.
Choose memory for your player count
No official mod-author minimum RAM figure is established for Create: Astral. The available numbers are hosting-provider planning guidance, so treat them as starting points and monitor the running server. World-generation speed, view distance, entity counts, chunk-loading behavior, and additional mods can change actual needs.

| Concurrent players | Starting heap guidance | Evidence and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Two or three | 5 GB | Astroworld’s 2026 practical guidance. |
| Mid-sized group | 6 GB | Astroworld’s 2026 practical guidance; also a published Modrinth managed tier. |
| Nine or more | 8 GB | Astroworld’s 2026 practical guidance; also a published Modrinth managed tier. |
| Small managed plan | 4 GB | Modrinth Hosting publishes a 4 GB tier; suitability depends on the actual group and workload. |
Set the maximum heap in the launch command. For example, a six-gigabyte starting allocation uses the same Fabric pattern with -Xmx6G:
java -Xmx6G -jar fabric-server-launch.jar nogui
Do not allocate every gigabyte of the machine to Java. The operating system, Java process overhead, file cache, and other services need headroom. If the server spends time near its limit, pauses during garbage collection, or falls behind while players explore new chunks, first check CPU load, storage latency, and view distance as well as increasing RAM.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Set up client installations and connect
Every player should install the same Minecraft 1.18.2 release, compatible Fabric loader family, Create: Astral version, and pack configuration. A client that merely has the Create mod, or a different release of the full pack, is not equivalent to the server.
Best Value
- Distribute the exact pack release number and loader details to the group.
- Have each player install that release through their launcher or the project’s documented client method.
- Start with one test client while the server remains private.
- Connect using the server’s local address for a home-network test or its public address after firewall and router configuration is complete.
- Only after a successful test should you share the address with the full group.
If a player is rejected, compare the client’s mod list, versions, and configuration with the server pack first. Then verify Java and Fabric loader versions. Do not solve a mismatch by adding random newer mods; reproduce the exact release that the server is running.

Troubleshoot the failures that matter most
“Incompatible mod set” or disconnect during login
Recheck the Minecraft version, Fabric loader, Create: Astral release, and every mod file against the server pack. Remove client-only additions that are not part of the pack, and do not copy a newer configuration over the server’s files.
The server will not launch
Run java -version, confirm Java 17 is actually being used, and verify that the launch command names the existing Fabric launcher jar. Read the first error in the console rather than the final shutdown message; a missing library, wrong loader, or malformed configuration usually appears earlier.
The console reports that the EULA is not accepted
Stop the process, open the generated eula.txt, review the license, and set eula=true only if you agree. Save the file in the same directory from which the launcher is running.
Players cannot reach the server
Test locally first. If local connections work, inspect the host firewall, router port-forwarding rule, server address, and whether your internet connection permits inbound connections. Managed hosts handle much of this networking layer, but you still need to use the address and port shown in their control panel.
Lag appears when exploring
Watch the console and system metrics while reproducing the problem. Separate memory pressure from CPU saturation, slow storage, and the cost of generating new chunks. Reduce unnecessary view or simulation distance before assuming that adding RAM alone will solve the issue, and keep scheduled backups from running during the busiest play period.
Backups, upgrades, and routine maintenance
Back up before every change
Stop the server cleanly, copy the world and configuration files to the backup destination, and record the pack release, Fabric loader, Java version, and any changes to server.properties. Test restoring a copy on a separate directory; a backup that has never been restored is only an assumption.
Upgrade in a separate instance
Do not replace the live installation while players are connected. Copy the world and configuration files, install the candidate Create: Astral release in a separate directory, and test it with one client. Keep the old instance untouched until the new one has loaded the world and completed a connection test.
Quick Recap
Maintain an operator record
- Exact Minecraft and Create: Astral versions.
- Fabric loader version.
- Java 17 installation or executable path.
