You can request that your house be blurred in Google Street View and, where Look Around is available, ask Apple to blur your home there. Those requests affect street-level photographs, not necessarily the address text, map pin, property record, satellite imagery, or pictures supplied by other services. Decide which exposure you are trying to reduce before submitting anything.
Google has the clearest published process: a homeowner or tenant opens the house in Street View, chooses Report a Problem, selects My home, proves authority over the address, and submits a supporting document. Google says a blur that it applies is permanent. Apple accepts requests to blur a person’s own house in Look Around, but its public materials do not document the same proof requirements or a universal turnaround time.

What “hiding your address” can mean
Online maps expose several different kinds of information. A street-level panorama may show the façade, driveway, windows, vehicles, or house number. A map search may display the postal address and a location marker. A satellite layer may show the roof and lot from above. Property databases and other websites may publish the same address independently.
A street-view blur addresses only the first category: imagery supplied by that mapping service. It does not automatically delete the address from search, move or remove a map pin, erase a public property record, or affect another company’s photographs. Google explicitly says it does not blur satellite or aerial imagery. The practical objective is therefore to identify the exact image or listing that concerns you and file the request with its owner.

How to blur your house on Google Street View
Google’s published flow works from the Street View image itself and is available on desktop and mobile. You must be the owner or tenant of the home. Google asks for proof that connects you to the residential location, and it may contact you if you provide an email address.
Step-by-step request
- Open Google Maps and search for your home or navigate to it on the map.
- Enter the relevant Street View panorama. Check the address, camera position, and date or angle so you are reporting the correct image.
- Open the image’s Report a Problem control. On a computer this appears in the Street View image interface; on a phone, open the image options and choose the same reporting command.
- Choose My home as the reason for the requested blur.
- Certify that you have authority to request the change. Google limits this home-blur route to the home owner or tenant.
- Enter the residential location and attach an acceptable proof-of-address document. Make sure the document identifies the same property shown in the panorama.
- Submit the report. Google reviews it and may email you for clarification. The help page does not promise a particular review time, so do not assume that a submission will be applied by a specific date.
Documents Google accepts
Google lists several examples of evidence. A letter, utility bill, or bank statement must be dated within six months of the request. A lease is acceptable even when it is more than six months old. Homeowners insurance and property-tax records are also listed options.
| Document | Condition stated by Google |
|---|---|
| Letter, utility bill, or bank statement | Must show the address and be dated within six months of the request |
| Lease | Accepted for the address, including leases older than six months |
| Homeowners insurance | Accepted when it identifies the location being blurred |
| Property-tax record | Accepted when it identifies the location being blurred |
| P.O. box-only document | Not accepted as proof of the physical home address |
The document must match the location you selected in Street View. A bill for another property, a mailing address that is only a P.O. box, or an image where the address cannot be read can delay or prevent approval.

Accepted upload formats are PNG, JPG, and PDF, and each file must be under 10 MB. Google says uploaded proof documents are permanently deleted from all its systems after 60 days. That deletion period applies to the uploaded evidence; it does not mean the Street View blur will expire.
The permanence decision
Read the selected panorama carefully before submitting. Google Maps Help states: When we receive and apply a blur request, the blur is permanent.
The statement concerns a blur after Google applies it. It is not a promise that every report will be approved, and the help page does not specify a review deadline. If you later decide that a clear version would be useful, treat the request as irreversible and verify the camera angle, house, and neighboring structures first.
How to request a blur in Apple Maps Look Around
Apple’s Maps Image Collection materials say that a person can contact Apple to request blurring of their own house in Look Around. Look Around coverage depends on location, so the feature may not be available at your address.
Recommended Free Tools
Apple’s privacy notice for reports says a Look Around blur request may be associated with the Apple Account or email address shown before submission. Apple may use the information to resolve the report and may contact the requester by email for clarification or to tell them that a fix was made.

What the published Apple material establishes
- The request concerns a house shown in Look Around imagery.
- The person making the request should be asking about their own home.
- An Apple Account or email association may be displayed before the report is sent.
- Apple may follow up by email.
- The public material reviewed does not specify a matching set of proof-of-address documents, a file-size limit, a guaranteed completion time, or whether an applied blur can later be reversed.
Because Apple’s general map-issue help covers many report types, do not assume that a generic pin-correction form is the same as a Look Around privacy request. Use the Look Around-specific contact or reporting route described in Apple’s Maps Image Collection information, and read the account or email disclosure on the submission screen.

What a street-view blur does not remove
Address text and map pins
Blurring the façade does not inherently remove a street address from a search result, suppress a location marker, or delete a property record. The official materials reviewed do not establish a universal procedure for removing an ordinary residential address from map databases. If your concern is the label or pin rather than the photograph, you need to identify the source of that listing and use that provider’s address-data process, if one exists.
Satellite and aerial photographs
Google explicitly says it does not blur satellite or aerial imagery. It directs government requests to third-party imagery providers and notes that overhead images can also be commercially available from other map services. A Street View request therefore cannot hide your roof, lot, or driveway from an overhead layer. Find the attribution for the satellite image you are viewing, then ask that imagery provider about its own privacy or correction process.

Images supplied by users
Google distinguishes its own Street View imagery from user-contributed content. For submitted 360-degree videos, Google says it automatically blurs faces and license plates. Non-video user content is not automatically blurred under the same rule, and contributors can blur their own imagery with third-party tools. If someone else’s photograph or panorama shows your home or identifying information, open that item and use its Report a problem feature. Report the specific contribution; do not rely on a request aimed at Google’s official Street View capture.

Prepare a request that is less likely to fail
- Define the target. Write down whether you want the house façade, an overhead image, a map pin, an address label, or a user-uploaded photograph changed.
- Capture the exact view. Confirm that the panorama or Look Around scene actually shows your home. Neighboring buildings can look similar, and a report on the wrong image may not address your concern.
- Use the correct authority. For Google’s home route, be the owner or tenant. If you are reporting for someone else, the published process does not establish that you can make the request on their behalf.
- Select suitable evidence. Choose a recent bill, letter, or bank statement; an address-matching lease; homeowners insurance; or property-tax records. A P.O. box alone is insufficient.
- Redact carefully. Leave the address and document date readable, remove account and payment information, and save the file as PNG, JPG, or PDF under 10 MB.
- Review permanence. Google’s applied blur cannot be treated as temporary. Check the selected image and understand that a later reversal is not promised.
- Record what you submitted. Keep the report date, image location, and any confirmation email. This helps you distinguish a pending review from a report aimed at a different imagery layer.
Troubleshooting common outcomes
The form asks for proof you do not want to upload
Google’s stated route requires proof of address. Redact everything except the address and document date, and use one of the listed document types. If you cannot provide evidence connecting you to the home, the published instructions do not describe an alternative verification method.
The upload is rejected
Check the file extension and size first: PNG, JPG, or PDF under 10 MB. Confirm that the physical address, not only a P.O. box, is visible and that a letter, utility bill, or bank statement is no more than six months old. A lease, homeowners-insurance document, or property-tax record can be used instead when it identifies the same location.
The house is still visible from above
That is expected when you submitted a Street View request. Google says satellite and aerial imagery are not blurred through that process. Use the image attribution to find the overhead provider and pursue its own policy.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe address still appears in search
An imagery blur is not an address-deletion request. The reviewed official materials do not establish a general way to remove a normal residential address or pin. Separate the map-data issue from the photograph and look for the specific provider’s listing-correction or privacy channel.
Best Value
A user’s photo still shows the property
Open the individual user contribution and report that item. Google’s automatic treatment of faces and license plates in submitted 360-degree videos does not mean every user photograph is automatically blurred.
You cannot find Look Around
Look Around is location-dependent. If no Look Around imagery exists for the address, Apple’s house-blur request may not apply to that location. The reviewed Apple materials do not provide a universal coverage guarantee or a substitute process for other imagery layers.
Privacy checklist before you submit
- Is the exposure a street-level panorama, an overhead image, a map label, or a user contribution?
- Are you the owner or tenant of the home for a Google request?
- Does your evidence show the physical address and meet the date rule where applicable?
- Have you redacted names, account numbers, payment details, and health information while leaving the address and date visible?
- Is the file PNG, JPG, or PDF and below 10 MB?
- Have you inspected the exact camera view and accepted that a Google-applied blur is permanent?
- Have you noted whether Apple will associate the report with your Apple Account or email?
- Are you avoiding the assumption that an imagery request removes the address, pin, property record, satellite image, or other providers’ copies?
Bottom line for each goal
To hide the visible house in Google Street View, use the image’s Report a Problem flow, choose My home, verify that you are the owner or tenant, and provide redacted proof of address. Google says the resulting blur is permanent and does not cover aerial imagery.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
To request the same kind of treatment in Apple Maps, use Apple’s Look Around house-blur contact route where coverage exists. Apple may associate the report with your Apple Account or email, while its public materials do not state equivalent evidence requirements or reversibility rules.
To hide an address label, map pin, satellite view, or someone else’s upload, treat it as a separate provider-specific problem. A street-view blur alone is not a universal removal of your home from online maps.
