To make outgoing cellular calls from a Samsung Galaxy show as private, open the Phone app and set Show your caller ID to Never. The option is usually under ⋮ > Settings > Supplementary services, though menu names and availability vary by device, software version, carrier and country. Your carrier must support caller ID suppression for the setting to work.
Hide your number in the Samsung Phone app

Open Samsung’s Phone app.

Tap ⋮ (More options), then Settings.

Tap Supplementary services. Depending on the phone and software, look instead under Call settings, More settings or Additional settings.

Select Never to ask the mobile network to withhold your number on outgoing calls. Samsung’s UK support guide documents this menu route and notes that older Android versions may use a different path.

The setting controls caller ID for cellular calls; it does not make the call untraceable or change the identity information available to your carrier.

Choose the caller ID behavior you want

| Never | Requests that the network withhold your number on outgoing calls. | Use it for private caller ID if your carrier and country allow suppression. |
| Always | Sends your caller ID. | Use it when you want your number shown, if the line supports the setting. |
These labels and choices are documented in Samsung UK’s caller ID instructions. They may not appear exactly the same on every Galaxy model or network.
If the option is missing or your number still appears
Caller ID suppression is a network service, not solely a phone setting. Samsung UK warns that some carriers and countries do not allow number hiding. If you cannot find the control, or calls still display your number after selecting Never, check that the SIM is active and ask your mobile carrier whether suppression is enabled and supported for your line and region. Menu placement can also differ across devices and software builds. Samsung notes that call settings may vary by device, software and carrier; consult Samsung’s device-specific call settings guidance if the labels do not match your screen.

It applies to outgoing calls, not text messages. Hiding caller ID for voice calls does not hide your number when you send SMS messages, according to Samsung UK Support.

The recipient may not get the call. People can block or reject private and unknown callers. Samsung discusses this possibility in its caller ID support guidance and call troubleshooting information.

It is not a general Samsung privacy mode. Secure Folder protects apps and stored content on supported devices; Private Share provides controls for sharing files. Neither changes the caller ID sent on a cellular call.

Show your number again
Return to Phone > ⋮ > Settings > Supplementary services (or the equivalent call-settings menu), open Show your caller ID, and choose Always to send your number or Network default to let your carrier determine the normal behavior. The network still determines what is possible on your line.
Using a code to hide caller ID for one call
Dialing codes for one-call suppression vary by country and carrier. Samsung Germany documents a regional code in its German support article, but that does not establish that the code works elsewhere. Ask your local carrier for the correct code before using one.
