To let someone start a YouTube live stream, invite them through YouTube Studio: open Settings → Permissions → Invite, enter their email, assign the appropriate role, and select Done. They must accept the invitation. A channel delegate can start a stream only from YouTube Live Control Room—not directly from an encoder.
Invite someone to manage live streams

Sign in to YouTube Studio with an account that can manage the channel’s permissions.

In the left menu, select Settings, then Permissions.

Select Invite, enter the person’s email address, and choose an access role.

Select Done. The invitee must accept the invitation and then sign in to YouTube using the invited account.
Do not share the channel owner’s Google password. YouTube’s role-based permissions give the invitee access without sharing the owner’s sign-in details. Invitations expire after 30 days.
Choose the right role
For live-stream management, YouTube documents both Manager and Editor as eligible roles. Choose Manager if the person also needs to administer channel permissions; otherwise, Editor can manage live streams without being able to manage permissions.

Give only the access needed for the person’s work. In particular, Editor does not have permission to invite other users or change channel permissions.
How the manager starts the stream

The invitee accepts the invitation and signs in to YouTube with the invited account.

In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live to open Live Control Room.

For an encoder stream, the encoder sends the stream feed. The operator checks the preview and starts the broadcast in Live Control Room.

YouTube says channel delegates can start a live stream only from Live Control Room. If the delegate tries to start it somewhere else, use that control room instead.

The channel uses Brand Account access
If the channel still uses Brand Account access, the owner may need to migrate it to channel permissions before the invite workflow appears. Follow YouTube’s instructions for migrating from Brand Account roles to channel permissions.

The invite controls are missing or the invitee cannot access the channel

Confirm that the owner is signed in to an account with permission to manage channel access and is using the intended channel in YouTube Studio.

Check that the invitation went to the correct email address, has been accepted, and has not expired. If it has expired, invite the person again.

Have the invitee sign in with the account that received and accepted the invitation.
The delegate has access but cannot start a stream
Role assignment does not override YouTube’s live-stream eligibility rules. YouTube requires the channel to be verified and to have had no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days; streamers must be at least 16. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and restrictions guidance if the channel cannot go live.
