For a downtown Syracuse event, start with the venue’s current arrival instructions: parking, traffic and transit arrangements can differ by event. For events at The Oncenter, its garage on E. Adams Street and lot on Harrison Street are the venue’s primary parking choices. If those do not fit your vehicle or are full, the Downtown Committee’s parking guide lists other facilities, including lots designated for special-event parking.
What parking options are available when attending an event in Downtown Syracuse?
Confirm the event venue before choosing a destination. The Oncenter’s parking is intended for events at its Convention Center, War Memorial Arena and Civic Center Theaters; it should not be assumed to be the best option for every downtown venue. The venue’s parking page and directions provide its current arrival information.

Other downtown lots and garages
The Downtown Committee of Syracuse parking guide lists public lots and garages and identifies the National Grid and One Herald Place lots as available for special-event parking. Check the facility operator for current rates, access details and availability; the guide warns that parking information and rates can change.
Check vehicle clearance, event rates and parking rules
The Oncenter garage’s posted clearance is 9 ft 6 in on the first floor and 6 ft 9 in on the second floor and above. Measure the vehicle, including any roof-mounted equipment, and compare it with the clearance for the level you may need. If it will not fit, contact the venue about the surface lot or find another facility before driving to the garage.

- 31% larger map with a bigger type size than the Rand McNally Folded Map
- Clearly labeled Interstate, U.S., state, and county highways

The Oncenter says parking is first-come, first-served, overnight parking is not permitted, and rates vary by vehicle size, entry time and event. Event-specific rates are posted on the entry signage; there is no single rate to rely on for all events. Arrive with time to find a space and walk to the venue.
For on-street parking, the Downtown Committee’s 2026 guide reports $2 per hour with a two-hour maximum. Treat that as guide-reported information, not a guarantee for every curb or event: check the signs at the space for current rules, hours and restrictions.

Plan the route and arrival time
- Open the venue’s current directions. Use the event venue’s own arrival instructions for the correct entrance and parking destination. For The Oncenter, consult its official parking and directions page.
- Check the parking facility separately. Confirm the lot or garage is open and suitable for your vehicle, and review any event-day instructions or posted rates.
- Allow time for traffic and parking. The Oncenter advises allowing extra time. The right approach and any road restrictions depend on the event date and your starting point, so check a current map and local travel updates rather than relying on a generic turn-by-turn route.
- Have a backup facility in mind. Use the Downtown Committee’s parking guide and map to identify alternatives, then verify details with the operator.
Consider transit, a shuttle, ridesharing or micromobility
The Downtown Committee lists Centro, the Connective Corridor shuttle, ridesharing and Veo as alternatives to driving. Centro also publishes Park-N-Ride locations and service information and alerts. These listings do not establish that a particular route or event shuttle will operate at your event time. Check current schedules, service alerts and event-specific instructions for the date you plan to travel.

Choose the option that fits your event
- For a Convention Center event: The Oncenter garage is a direct option, with a skybridge to the Convention Center. Check garage height limits and event-day parking information first.
- For a taller vehicle: The garage’s upper levels may not provide enough clearance. Ask The Oncenter about its Harrison Street lot or choose a suitable alternative after confirming details.
- If the primary facility is full or unsuitable: Check the Downtown Committee guide for other facilities, including National Grid and One Herald Place, and verify with the operator before driving there.
- If you would rather not park downtown: Check Centro Park-N-Ride, current transit service, rideshare availability or Veo options for your location and event time.
- If accessible parking matters: The Oncenter lists accessible-space counts for its garage and lot, but those figures do not establish event-day availability. Confirm access arrangements with the venue and use the event’s current instructions.
