In Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, the Lucky Locator is a Sprite Mastery reward: a current guide updated September 21, 2026, reports that you earn one after mastering 21 Sprites. It is not ordinary chest loot. Once you unlock it, activate it from the Gizmo Wheel to locate a buried Sprite Chest, then dig it up and collect the Sprite.
How to unlock the Lucky Locator
- Progress through the Sprite Mastery track by mastering Sprites.
- For Chapter 7 Season 4, Beebom’s guide updated September 21, 2026, reports that the Lucky Locator is awarded at 21 mastered Sprites. Epic’s official v41.30 notes confirm Sprite Mastery as the reward route, but do not state this Season 4 threshold. Check the current in-game track in case the seasonal reward changes. Beebom’s current guide and Epic’s v41.30 update notes describe the respective details.
- Claim the reward when it becomes available on the track.
Do not look for the Locator in ordinary chests or containers: the current guide identifies it as a Sprite Mastery reward, not a loot drop.

How to use the Lucky Locator
- Hold your pickaxe and open the Gizmo Wheel. Beebom lists Y or Triangle on controller, or L on keyboard; controls can vary with platform and custom bindings.
- Select Lucky Locator and activate it. It marks a buried Sprite Chest on your map.
- Travel to the marker and dig the spot with your pickaxe.
- Collect the Sprite from the chest. Beebom recommends using a Portable Extractor for the extraction step.
Epic describes the Lucky Locator as a Gizmo that “guarantees a Chest containing a Sprite you haven’t collected yet” in its v41.30 notes. The guarantee is about the chest containing an uncollected Sprite; the current guide explains that the Locator points you to the buried chest.

Extraction Gizmos are consumables accessed through the pickaxe slot. Epic Player Support says Gizmo inventory carries through the season but expires when the season ends; the Battle Royale mode selection screen or Gizmo Wheel shows the in-game expiration timer. Use that timer for the actual deadline rather than relying on a date from an older season. Epic’s Extraction Gizmos support page also says Gizmos cannot be traded or dropped when eliminated, and lists Bonus Goals quests, exchanging Sprite Dust, and Sprite Mastery as ways to earn more.

Beebom reports that the Lucky Locator is account-bound and consumed when activated, even if you are eliminated before collecting the Sprite. That detail comes from the current secondary guide rather than Epic’s support page, so treat it as guide-reported behavior.
