Route from the Root Depths campsite
- Fast-travel or walk to the Giant Tree: Root Depths campsite in Chapter 7’s Giant Tree Zone.
- Face away from the current objective marker. The chest is not directly on the marked route.
- Run up the short grassy slope beside the camp.
- Jump onto the raised metal platform holding the shipping containers.
- Walk around the containers until you see the unlocked gold strongbox, then open it to collect the Amber Breastplate.
The campsite is close enough to serve as a reliable return point if you miss the jump or need to change equipment before testing the armor. Alternative cable-car approach
If you are reaching the area before using the campsite as your checkpoint, follow the Chapter 7 objective toward the Giant Tree and take the yellow cable car. As the car turns back, drop onto the raised container platform. The Defense mismatch comes from two interfaces rather than two versions of the armor: the dedicated location guide records 48 on the pickup popup and 49 in the equipment menu, while the item reference lists 49. If you see 48 immediately after opening the chest, check the equipped-item screen before assuming the reward is defective.
Is six the maximum number of slots?
In the comparison guide, six Spirit Stone Slots is the highest slot count among the armor pieces it lists. That does not make the Amber Breastplate universally strongest, but it does make it easier to carry a complete stone configuration when you change into it. A build that depends on five or six stones can therefore preserve more of its intended effects than it would with a lower-slot replacement.

What the 90 Acid Resistance means in practice
Use it for acid-focused encounters
Equip the Amber Breastplate when acid damage is the immediate threat. The Giant Tree Zone coverage specifically frames it as useful for the Corvus fight, where reducing acid damage can matter more than choosing the armor with the highest raw Defense. The resistance is a targeted answer to a damage type, not proof that every enemy in Chapter 7 is best handled with this chest piece.
Resistance should be judged against the encounter you are actually about to enter. If an arena repeatedly applies acid and you are spending healing resources to recover from it, the 90 Acid Resistance can have more practical value than a small Defense advantage. If the fight is mostly physical or uses another element, the Amber Breastplate’s headline stat may contribute little while its awareness drawback remains.
Keep a second armor ready
Because the Amber Breastplate has six Spirit Stone Slots, changing into it does not automatically force you to abandon a six-slot build. Save a loadout or keep your preferred stones organized so you can make the swap before an acid-heavy arena and reverse it afterward. The best choice depends on the next encounter’s damage type, your current stealth needs, and whether the extra Defense on another item prevents more damage than acid resistance would.

Extreme Enemy Awareness is the armor’s central cost. It does not lower Defense or remove Spirit Stone slots; it changes how readily enemies detect Emma. That can turn a route that was manageable with low or medium awareness into an alert-heavy run, especially when you are trying to bypass patrols, preserve resources, or approach an encounter on your own terms.

When to avoid it
- Stealth traversal through patrol-heavy sections where being seen starts unnecessary fights.
- Resource-conserving runs in which you want to skip minor enemies.
- Approaches that depend on getting close before an enemy enters an alert state.
- Backtracking through familiar areas where acid is no longer a meaningful threat.
When the drawback is acceptable
- A boss or elite encounter is dealing meaningful acid damage.
- You are already committed to open combat, so earlier detection has little practical cost.
