You generally cannot scrape TCGplayer price history under its published rules. TCGplayer’s Terms of Service prohibit crawling, scraping, or spidering its websites without express permission, and its API terms restrict automated collection of site content to authorized API use. The official developer guide currently says TCGplayer is not granting new API access. Its documented pricing endpoints describe current price fields—not a historical time-series endpoint.
If you already have approved API credentials, use only the endpoints, data, and purpose TCGplayer approved. Otherwise, ask TCGplayer about authorized access or evaluate an independent card-price history service. Do not treat a browser request or an undocumented endpoint as permission to collect the data.
Can you scrape TCGplayer price history?
Not without express permission. TCGplayer’s published Terms of Service say, “You agree not to crawl, scrape or spider any of our websites without express permission from us.” Its API terms likewise prohibit automated collection of site content—including pricing—except through access and use allowed under those terms.
The distinction matters: seeing price history on a consumer-facing page does not establish that an automated history feed is available or authorized. The official pricing documentation cited below describes current price fields. It does not document an endpoint for retrieving historical price observations.
#1 Best Overall
TCGplayer’s API terms say access requires an application and may be granted or denied at TCGplayer’s discretion. If access is granted, it is limited to the approved party and purpose. The terms also restrict redistribution and uses that compete with or undermine TCGplayer’s business interests or the unique value of its content, absent the required prior written consent. An API key is not blanket permission for any data use; check the live terms against your specific project.
What TCGplayer’s official API documents provide
The official pricing overview and its endpoint references describe pricing lookups, not a historical time series:
- Market pricing: the “Get Market Price by SKU” reference describes the current market price for a SKU identified by a productConditionId.
- Other current price fields: the documented pricing references include low, mid, high, direct-low, and buylist values across endpoints.
- Product pricing workflow: “List Product Market Prices” returns price fields for product IDs. The documentation describes searching for products and then requesting their prices, and recommends local caching rather than making a new pricing request every time a displayed price is needed.
Those fields answer questions about documented current pricing. They do not, in the cited documentation, provide dated historical observations, an interval for collecting them, or a history query. If your requirement is a chart or trend line, confirm directly with TCGplayer whether an authorized history source exists for your use case; do not infer one from current-price endpoints.
API access status and what existing users should check
TCGplayer’s Getting Started guide identifies the API as a REST API, lists an API Developer Key as a prerequisite, labels the version shown on the page as v1.39.0, and states: “We are no longer granting new API access at this time.” This is a changeable access-status notice; check the live guide before making plans. The version label is documentation metadata, not evidence that a historical endpoint exists.

- The Pokémon TCG: Pokémon Day 2026 Collection includes 1 foil promo card featuring Pikachu with a Pokémon Day stamp.
- This also comes with 1 Pokémon coin.
- You will also receive 3 Pokémon TCG booster packs.
- Booster Packs May Vary from those pictured.
- The key and account are still authorized, and the intended application, users, and purpose match the approval.
- The specific endpoints and fields you intend to use are included in your approved access.
- Your storage, display, retention, and any sharing or commercial use meet the current API terms.
- You can meet the required source attribution and non-endorsement notice conditions. The API terms require identifying TCGplayer as the pricing source and linking to the relevant product page or search result, and require a prominent non-endorsement notice for services using the TCG Offering.
For a project that combines prices, redistributes data, serves third parties, or competes with a TCGplayer offering, read the live API Terms & Conditions closely and seek TCGplayer’s written confirmation where needed. The terms describe restrictions on automated collection outside the API, combining TCGplayer pricing with other pricing data, commercial or competitive redistribution, and building similar or competing services without required consent.
How to proceed without violating the published rules
If you already have approved access
- Read the current API terms and developer documentation, then confirm your access and intended purpose are approved.
- Use only the documented endpoints and fields covered by that approval. The pricing references cover current price lookups; they do not establish a history endpoint.
- Cache permitted results in line with the documentation and your approved use rather than repeatedly requesting prices for every page view.
- Preserve the required source attribution and non-endorsement notice wherever the TCG Offering is used.
- If you need historical trends, ask TCGplayer whether your approved access includes an authorized way to obtain or retain dated observations. Do not assume that periodically saving current prices is permitted for your application.
If you do not have approved access
The Getting Started page currently says new API access is not being granted. Do not replace an unavailable API key with scraping, browser automation, reverse-engineered requests, or a private endpoint: the published site terms require express permission for scraping, and the API terms restrict automated collection outside approved API use. Contact TCGplayer to ask about an authorized route for your need.
If you need a historical series now
Investigate a card-price tracking service independently rather than assuming it is authorized or complete. Before relying on one, verify the specific game, set, printing, condition, and marketplace coverage; whether it retains actual dated history; where its data comes from and whether its collection is permitted; how often it updates; whether data can be exported; and its terms and cost. A service showing a current price is not necessarily a source of historical observations. No specific third-party history provider is established here as compliant or suitable.

Price history is not the same as the final amount paid
TCGplayer’s general Terms of Service caution that displayed product prices represent current seller prices and may not include shipping, tax, or processing fees; listing prices and availability are not guaranteed to be accurate or current. A price point should therefore not be treated as a guaranteed transaction total. If you are evaluating a purchase, check the live listing and checkout details.
Common mistakes and safer fixes
- Assuming visible chart data means scraping is allowed: a page’s availability to visitors is not express permission for automated collection. Ask TCGplayer for permission or use a source whose collection and reuse terms you have verified.
- Treating current market price as price history: the documented pricing fields are current values. Confirm an authorized historical source before designing a time-series workflow.
- Assuming an API key authorizes every downstream use: approval is discretionary and use is limited by the approved party, purpose, terms, and attribution requirements. Confirm the scope for storage, display, and sharing.
- Relying on old advice about new API credentials: access status can change. The current Getting Started page says no new API access is being granted; check it directly before relying on a prior tutorial or forum post.
- Comparing a listing price with a checkout total: shipping, tax, or processing fees may be excluded, and availability or prices may change. Compare like with like and verify the live order details.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server, not a TCGplayer price-history API. It can capture a page you are authorized to access, but a screenshot is a visual snapshot—not structured price data or a historical feed. A single GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Its clean-shot options accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, with the outcome identified in response headers. AI agents can use its MCP server tools, including take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf.
For an authorized page capture, install Python’s requests package and set your API key, then run this example:
Rank #3
- 50+ Pokemon Cards
- 5 Holos Guaranteed minimium per order
- 1 GX, EX, V, VMax, Full Art, Tag Team, or Secret Rare
import requests
r = requests.get(
"https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
timeout=90,
)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for supported options. This capture does not make scraping TCGplayer permitted; use it only for pages and purposes you are authorized to access.
ScreenshotNeo includes 1,000 screenshots per month on its free plan with no card required; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo’s free plan.
FAQ
Does TCGplayer’s documented pricing API return historical prices?
The cited official pricing references describe current price fields and do not document a historical time-series endpoint.
Can I use a third-party tracker instead?
Potentially, but verify its coverage, retained history, data provenance, collection permissions, update cadence, export options, terms, and cost before relying on it.
Does a screenshot provide usable historical price data?
No. A screenshot captures a visual page at a point in time; it is not a structured history feed or permission to automate access to a site.
