You go topside to scavenge, complete objectives and improve your progression, while ARC machines and other Raiders make every route uncertain. Your raid only pays off when you get out with the haul.
Start with a modest objective, bring gear you can afford to lose, monitor the map as extraction choices change, and leave when securing your progress matters more than chasing one more room. This guide explains that loop, the two extraction options, risk-based loadout decisions, and the progression systems that matter to a new or returning player.

What ARC Raiders asks you to do
The official overview describes ARC Raiders as “a multiplayer extraction adventure, set in a lethal future earth, ravaged by a mysterious mechanized threat known as ARC.” In practical terms, each raid combines four jobs:
- Enter topside: take a loadout into a dangerous map.
- Pursue a goal: collect resources, work on an objective or investigate a location.
- Manage threats: ARC machines can force fights or detours, and other Raiders may be hostile.
- Extract: leave alive with the items and progress you want to keep.
Extraction is the hinge. A successful fight or valuable find is not secured merely because it is in your inventory; the value is realized when you leave. Trials make that relationship especially explicit because raid progress is conditional on safe extraction.

That creates a different mindset from a conventional shooter. Not every sound requires a fight, and not every marked objective must be completed in one visit. A raid can be successful because you obtained a small set of materials and exited before a situation became unmanageable.
Your first raid: use a small, repeatable loop
For an opening run, choose an objective you can describe in one sentence: find a particular resource, visit a location, or make progress on a current Trial. Keep the intended value modest. Your first priority is learning how long a route takes, where attention gathers, and how extraction availability changes while you are topside.
1. Set a risk limit before queueing
Decide what you are willing to lose before selecting equipment. A low-commitment run is useful for learning routes and map conditions; a higher-commitment run is reasonable when you have a specific objective that justifies the exposure. There is no universally correct beginner loadout because the right commitment depends on the objective, the current map condition and the value of the items you already own.

Move toward the area that serves your goal and treat encounters as decisions rather than automatic battles. Fighting an ARC machine or another Raider can consume health, ammunition, time and noise budget. If an encounter does not advance the objective or protect your route, bypassing it may be the better trade.
3. Reassess after every valuable find
After you obtain the item, information or objective you entered for, ask whether another detour has enough expected value to justify the added exposure. This is an editorial decision rule drawn from the game’s risk-and-reward design, not a mandatory in-game prompt.
4. Watch the session as you move
Extraction options are not static. Standard extraction availability dwindles as a session proceeds, so waiting can reduce your choices. Keep your route and likely exit in mind rather than assuming a convenient point will remain available later.
5. Leave when the haul is worth protecting
Once the objective is complete or your carried value has become meaningful, shift from “what else can I find?” to “what is the safest practical way to secure this?” A modest extraction teaches more than a spectacular run that ends with everything lost.

Extraction choices: standard points versus Raider Hatches
The developer describes two extraction families. They solve the same problem—getting out—but trade direct cost, attention and timing differently.
| Option | Direct resource cost | Noise and attention | Speed | Availability | Squad consideration |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard extraction point | No direct cost is stated | These points attract attention | Not stated | Availability dwindles as the session proceeds | No special squad deal is stated |
| Raider Hatch | Requires a Hatch Key | Described by the developer as quieter | Described as quick | Depends on finding an available hatch and having access; do not assume one will always be present | The developer describes a three-for-one deal when extracting with a squad |
When a standard point makes sense
Standard points are the uncomplicated choice when you have no Hatch Key, when the route is already favorable, or when spending a key would not improve the outcome enough to justify its value. They are free in direct resource terms, but the attention they draw can create a dangerous final leg. Because availability diminishes during a session, a standard point may be more attractive earlier than later.
When to consider a Raider Hatch
A Hatch Key gives you access to an alternative described as quieter and quicker. That can matter when you are carrying a valuable haul, when a standard point is likely to attract too much attention, or when a faster departure reduces exposure. The key itself is a resource, however, so using a hatch is not automatically safer or always the correct economic choice.
According to the developer article, Hatch Keys may be bought, crafted or found. Treat the exact ways to obtain them as update-sensitive and verify the current in-game requirements. A hatch can also be unavailable, contested or poorly positioned for your route; a key does not guarantee a risk-free exit.
How squad extraction changes the calculation
The developer describes hatch use with a squad as a three-for-one deal. Because the wording and implementation can change with updates, check the current game rules before relying on a particular number of players or keys. The broader lesson is stable: in a squad, divide the key’s value across the group and compare that shared benefit with the attention and route risk of a standard point.
Do not treat “quieter” as “safe”
“Quieter” describes the hatch’s attention profile, not an immunity from danger. You still need access, a viable route and enough time to use it. Other players, ARC activity and the current map condition can make either extraction family hazardous. Choose the option that lowers your total exposure for this raid, not the option with the better label in isolation.
Choosing gear without chasing a universal best loadout
Gear should express the raid you intend to play. A low-risk scavenging trip and a high-value objective should not require the same commitment, and an update can change the entry rules for a particular map condition. No sourced universal weapon ranking or beginner tier list establishes one loadout as best for every player.

Match commitment to the objective
- Learning or scouting: use equipment whose loss will not prevent another attempt. Your goal is information, route familiarity and a safe extraction.
- Resource run: carry enough capability to handle likely threats, but avoid adding expensive items that do not help you collect or leave.
- High-value objective: increase commitment only when the objective’s reward or importance justifies the potential loss and the route demands it.
- Squad operation: coordinate who is taking the most risk and who is preserving the ability to extract. A group can distribute responsibilities rather than making every player equally expensive.
Use map conditions as a loadout constraint
Map conditions and special scenarios can alter what is sensible or permitted. Live Update 1.33.0, released June 16, 2026, temporarily disabled free loadouts for Night Raid and Close Scrutiny for three weeks as a test. The stated reason was that those scenarios offered better loot and the team wanted players to commit to an appropriate level of risk and reward.
That was explicitly time-limited historical behavior, not proof that the restriction remains in force on October 13, 2026. Before queueing, read the current condition and entry rules for the map or scenario you selected. If free equipment is unavailable, recalculate whether the objective still justifies the required commitment.
Ask three questions before you confirm
- What am I trying to accomplish? Name the objective or resource rather than entering with an undefined hope of finding something valuable.
- What can I afford to lose? Include the equipment and the opportunity cost of the time invested in the raid.
- What is my exit plan? Know whether you are likely to use a standard point, whether you have a Hatch Key, and what you will do if the preferred route is unavailable.
Do not overpack for hypothetical fights
Extra capability can make a raid feel safer while quietly increasing the cost of failure. Bring what supports the objective and a realistic response to threats you expect on that route. If you cannot explain why an item improves collection, survival or extraction, it may be commitment without a clear payoff.
Progression is more than the items in your stash
ARC Raiders layers several forms of progression. Treat them as separate reasons to enter a raid rather than assuming every reward comes from ordinary scavenging.
Trials: raid progress that depends on extraction
Trials are tied to raid activity and reward safe extraction. A task may be achievable topside, but the progress matters only when you successfully leave. This makes a completed objective followed by a failed extraction a different outcome from a modest objective that you bring home.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTrials schedules and objectives are update-sensitive. Trials Season 6 began October 8, 2026, and is scheduled through November 16, 2026. Use the current in-game description for the exact requirements and reward list rather than assuming an earlier season’s structure carries forward.
Feats and Reward Passes
Feats feed into Reward Passes, which unlock rewards as you complete the relevant accomplishments. When planning a session, check whether a current Feat can be combined with your primary objective. That can turn an otherwise ordinary resource run into progress on a second track without requiring a reckless detour.

The precise Feat list and Reward Pass contents can change. Read the active pass and its conditions before deciding that a particular item or milestone is worth extending a raid.
Projects and upgrade systems
Projects and other upgrade systems provide longer-horizon goals. They can make a low-risk trip worthwhile when you need a particular material, even if the immediate loot is unremarkable. Separate “needed for an upgrade” from “valuable because it is rare” in your planning; the former gives you a concrete reason to extract, while the latter can tempt you into staying too long.

What Frozen Trail adds right now
Frozen Trail launched October 8, 2026. As of the October 13, 2026 information date, Pendola Pass is available and the update has added several progression and mobility elements. These are current-update details and may change in later patches.
Pendola Pass and the Outpost
The update recommends establishing an Outpost. It can amplify weapons to a fifth tier and unlock special abilities. For a new player, this means an Outpost objective may justify a different kind of raid planning: identify the materials or milestones it currently requires, then choose a commitment level that protects the chance of extracting them.
New skills and movement tools
Frozen Trail adds new skills, Tethers and the Grapple Hook. Their exact behavior, availability and requirements should be checked in the current game interface. Do not assume that owning a new mobility item automatically makes every route or extraction safe; use it to support a defined objective and keep an exit route in mind.
Weekly objectives and challenges
An October 12 announcement describes weekly objectives and challenges involving Pendola Pass and its new threats. These goals can change the value of a raid route from week to week. Check the active objectives immediately before queueing, because a route that is efficient for one week’s challenge may be poor for the next.
A practical decision framework for staying or extracting

- Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
- Confirm what is secured only by extraction. If the activity is a Trial or another raid-bound objective, surviving to an exit is part of the task.
- Estimate the next gain. Is the next room likely to advance a current objective, project or Feat, or are you searching without a defined payoff?
- Count the added exposure. More minutes topside can mean more ARC encounters, more contact with Raiders and fewer standard extraction choices.
- Compare your exits. A standard point costs no direct resource but attracts attention and may become unavailable; a hatch costs a key and is described as quieter and quick, but it may not be positioned or accessible.
- Choose the route you can execute now. The best theoretical extraction is useless if reaching it requires an exposed crossing or an unnecessary fight.
This framework does not promise a safe raid. It prevents an undefined “one more stop” from becoming the default decision after your original objective is already complete.
Common beginner mistakes and corrections
Staying because the inventory is not full
Capacity is not the same as value. If you have completed the meaningful objective, the remaining question is whether additional items justify another exposure cycle. Extracting with a partial haul can be the correct result.
Assuming a hatch is always the superior exit
A Hatch Key has an opportunity cost, and a hatch may be unavailable or inconvenient. Compare the key, route, attention and timing with the standard point in the current session.

Bringing expensive gear to learn a map
Learning is a legitimate objective, but it does not require maximum commitment. Use a loadout that lets you attempt the route repeatedly; reserve higher-risk equipment for objectives that justify it.
Treating a historical rule as a permanent rule
The June 2026 free-loadout test demonstrates that entry rules can be changed for particular scenarios. It does not establish the October 2026 rules. Read the current map condition every time you queue.
Ignoring the extraction requirement on Trials
Completing a Trial-related task topside is not equivalent to banking the progress. Plan the final leg before beginning an objective that depends on safe extraction.
Following an old progression checklist
Frozen Trail added Pendola Pass, the Outpost, fifth-tier weapon amplification, new skills, Tethers and the Grapple Hook. Seasonal and weekly content can alter priorities, so use the active objectives and requirements rather than a static list made for an earlier update.
Check before you queue
- Read the current map condition and any special entry restrictions.
- Confirm the exact objective, Trial, Feat, project or weekly challenge you intend to advance.
- Choose gear whose loss matches the objective’s value and the route’s risk.
- Look at available standard extraction points and remember that their availability dwindles during the session.
- Check whether you have a Hatch Key and whether a hatch is actually useful for this route; do not assume it is automatically safer.
- Decide the point at which you will stop searching and secure the haul.
- After extracting, verify that the objective or progression reward registered before planning the next commitment.
The Bottom Line
Begin ARC Raiders by treating every raid as a risk-managed trip: take a manageable objective, commit only the gear that objective warrants, and make extraction part of the plan from the moment you queue. Standard points are free but attention-grabbing and less available over time; Raider Hatches consume a key but are described as quieter and quick. Check current map conditions, seasonal objectives and upgrade requirements before each run, because those rules and rewards change.
