Choose the method that fits your music

Transfer music files from a computer
If you already have audio files, Samsung supports moving them to a Galaxy phone or tablet using a USB cable. Once copied, look for them in My Files or open them in a compatible music player. Connector types, computer software, and prompts can vary, so follow the instructions shown for your phone and computer. Samsung’s USB transfer guide covers the PC route and directs Mac users to Android File Transfer.

- Connect the Galaxy to the computer with a USB cable that supports data transfer. A charging-only cable will not transfer files.
- Unlock the phone and respond to any USB connection prompt. If asked, choose the option that permits file transfer.
- On the computer, open the connected Galaxy’s storage and copy the music files into a folder on the phone, such as Music.
- Eject or safely disconnect the phone when the copy finishes. On the Galaxy, open My Files to check that the files are present, or open them in a compatible player.
A USB-C data cable is useful only for this computer-transfer method, and the cable must match your device’s connector and support data transfer.
Play transferred files with Samsung Music
Samsung Music is a local music player: Samsung says it searches for audio files saved on the device when the app opens. Samsung lists MP3, WMA, AAC, and FLAC among supported formats, but cautions that some formats may not work on Android 12. Compatibility can therefore depend on the file and the Galaxy’s software. If a copied track does not appear, confirm that the file is on the phone, then reopen the player. If it still will not play, the format may not be supported on that device or software version; try a compatible player or a supported audio format.
Download music in streaming apps
Spotify
Spotify requires Premium to download music for offline listening. Its mobile instructions say to find the music while online and tap Download. An individual song cannot be downloaded directly: add it to a playlist, then download that playlist. Spotify says downloads are maintained by connecting to the internet at least once every 30 days. Spotify says Wi-Fi is the default for downloads and that cellular downloads can be enabled in settings. Download over Wi-Fi if you want to avoid using mobile data.
YouTube Music
YouTube Music Premium members can download music to a mobile device for offline listening. Google says to reconnect at least once every 30 days to maintain downloads. Podcasts may be downloadable without membership, although some episodes or shows do not support audio-only downloads. Features can differ by country or region. Amazon Music
Download options depend on the plan. Amazon says Prime users can download All-Access Playlists for offline listening, while Amazon Music Unlimited and Standard plans allow downloads of songs, albums, and playlists. With a streaming service, use that service’s app to play its offline downloads. With transferred music files, use My Files or a compatible local music player. This distinction is important if you want to move tracks between apps or keep access independent of a streaming membership: service downloads are app-managed, while local files are the files you copied to the phone.
